Already enamored with Pan!Cleo and her prey animal habits. She's always watching for people and is absolutely terrified of them. Her heart races anytime someone approaches her because she's always expecting violence from humans. Humans betrayed and killed her and now she's expecting it to happen again. And in her defense they've all been brought back from the dead just to fight and kill each other so the odds of that happening are very high. To get any sense of control in this situation she says that she simply won't get attached in the first place. That way it'll hurt less when everyone is inevitably killed.

I also find it very fascinating that a lot of Cleo's abilities are not offensive and are instead more defensive or support abilities. She wasn't lying when she told people she knows how to survive but she's not a fighter. One of her abilities buffs everyone around her and a lot of people have commented on how useful it is. Her magic build seems to be based around helping allies so to have her choose to isolate herself is such an interesting character choice. She never makes a big show of buffing people and seems to avoid drawing attention and praise to it. I have a feeling that she's afraid of people using her for her abilities only to stab her in the back when it's convenient. This combined with the way animals are drawn to her kind of implies that she isn't really meant to be alone. It's something that she's forced herself to be for her own safety but satyrs, much like goats, appear to be social creatures and don't do well on their own.

Another interesting thing is that Cleo has had so many people try to befriend her but it's only Martyn that she trusts. Martyn, the person who didn't back down from Cleo's challenge and held true to his convictions. Martyn openly and honestly telling Cleo that he will fight her for Artemis's blessing and promising to help her if she backs down earned her respect and trust. Cleo didn't make it easy for him either, she postured against him far longer than any other champion before he gave in and made the deal with her. Cleo wouldn't have won that fight and was aware of that but it was a test to see what people would do if she challenged them and Martyn passed by earning her respect and proving that he wasn't a pushover. I don't even know if Martyn knows that he earned Cleo's loyalty through that exchange but when it came to choosing which champions would fight Martyn was the only one Cleo immediately singled out as a person she wouldn't vote for. It wasn't enough for Cleo to offer her favor when he was chosen but it was enough that she didn't want to be the one to put him in harm's way. He promised to help her and he's the only one she trusts so far to keep his word. It's just a really fun character choice to be surrounded by so many people who vocally want to be your ally but to only trust the one person to stand up to you. At least that's the person who's honest enough to look you in the eyes when they stab you and that's all Cleo can ask.
