Itâs the call of a crow that breaks the spell. One moment, Tadashi is watching the volleyball float - actually float!!! - through the air. It almost looks like itâs moving in slow motion, and even though he doesnât know what anyone on the other side of the net will do with it, or whether it will score a point, heâs proud of himself. Heâs proud of his accomplishment here. But that moment is quickly followed by a sound, a sound that sets more than half the team on edge immediately, and has them wondering if thereâs actually a bird in here, or if one of the harpies present is going mad.
Tadashi looks up, maybe because birds mean sky, but maybe because he saw movement without realising he saw movement, and thatâs the moment it all - quite ironically - comes crashing down.
âItâ being the volleyball, and a very real crow. Confusion flies through the room, not unlike a bird, and then Tadashi is the first of the teenagers to speak. Speak might be a generous term for it though, as the words that leave out come out somewhere between a croak and a squeal.
âOh my god! I killed a bird!â After his outburst, multiple members of the team begin their rush towards the animal, but Tadashi, fuelled by pure panic and immense guilt, gets there first, shaking hands not quite touching the crow for fear of doing more damage than good.
âWhy did you fly at the ball?! Are you okay?!â The questions come out as part of panicked instinct. Tadashi is not thinking about how any of this is happening, heâs really just glad that the crow isnât actually dead.
So itâs a different voice from someone a little further away that pipes up with the words âWait, did that crow just speak?â, words that donât even reach Yamaguchi, such is his panic.
Junim is in panic mode and now heâs got to figure out how to get his stupid bird brained brother out of this mess that heâs made for himself. Again.
He needs to grab Aiden and make a run for it. Theyâve had mixed reactionâs over the years of coming into contact with two leggers over the fact that 1, they are birds and 2, they do talk. Some have been just fine, confused and curious but otherwise fine. OthersâŚ. less fine, and he doesnât really want to wait around to find out which reaction this is gonna garner, especially when his idiot brother is yelling at them. That means he needs to actually be able to run and his human form is better for that. But he doesnât have his clothesâŚ
A quick glance around the building shows him a couple of other doorways. Surely one of those has a spare set of clothes in it, right? Yeah they have to. And itâll give him the chance to change without giving himself away, then he just has to run through, grab the squawker and get the heck out. That seems like a solid plan to him so with a final glance at the growing crowd he takes off for an open doorway. âMaybe theyâll smack him while Iâm gone, would serve him right.â
Aiden himself, is still putting up quite a fuss over the whole thing, his voice ringing out with squawks and angry chitters as his feathers fluff and refluff. His only break is when heâs actually asked a question, then he focuses on the boy who caused this (as if he didnât do this to himself), the one who threw the stupid ball.
âWhat do you mean âwhyâ? You were playing a game, I wanted to play too! I didnât realize I was gonna be attacked in the process!â He gives himself a shake to try to smooth some of his feathers, his wings flicking out in the process. Okay so he wasnât hurt necessarily, but he was dizzy now.
âIâm perfectly fine! Youâre lead weighted ball didnât kill me, fool! Iâm not that delicate!â
