There's only 2 shows left this weekend. Be at 1 or both. Seriously There has never been a time in my life that I didn't question my belonging. Belonging on this earth. Belonging in this world. Belonging in this skin. Before I realized the depths of white supremacy and the daunting affects it's has on my self perception I used to cry and ask God why would "he" give me such a confusing misleading face. Straddling a fence of ethnic palatability not quite the ideal but sliding by until my blackness becomes a disturbance. I almost didn't go to this performance. I said theater is for the prententious privileged and I dont want to be in a room full of white people objectifying a black broad feeling entitled to insight or romanticizing our struggle. I left theater because I was black the main reason I started singing professionally was because it was running away without really leaving the stage. I put aside my reservations to support a poster of a brown body that i saw in a white owned cafe. It was the sweetest surprise I've sprung on my Self in a while. @blackunicorconpegasus thank you for shaking spirits back into knowing. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I belong in the skin I am in. I am enough. I am the product of my ancestors wildest dream. This is what theater is made for.
