I understand why people are upset about their fave. But in all honesty what Lisa Raye wasn't incorrect. Lil’ Kim did come before Nicki. Usher is Correct when he says that Nicki Minaj is a product of Lil Kim.

Her art is wonderful visually speaking. I enjoy the contrasting colors. Im not very into pink but I appreciate the use of that color. I love the depiction of darker skinned black people in everyday life. I feel like the pink is supposed to symbolize some sort of softness to contrast the mainstream ideas about those of us of a darker hue. I will say that I feel like I've seen her art prior to the class today but I could be wrong. 4/16/2020

"hip-hop is not as multidimensional as black people are and that rap music only represents an aspect of the African-American experience." I really took issue with this statement because its not particularly true. I do understand the feeling that your generation is being defined by this one side of a culture. But that’s where that ends. I feel like this is the same issue we’re having 16 years later. Rap in 2020 sounds like a whole lot of mumbling and everything sounds THE SAME Every new young MALE rapper sounds the exact same. There is a plethora of black experiences that can be discussed but they are probably not what sells and what is popular to the world.
