blender how to see how many vertices you have selected
I'm in edit mode. Clicking vertices. Selecting. Deselecting. Counting on my fingers like an absolute lunatic. You ever do that? Just sitting there. "Okay that's three, four, five – wait did I already count that one?" UGH.
Blender just... sits there. Quiet. Watching you struggle. Like a cat on a shelf. Judging.
And I'm thinking – there has to be a way, right? No way the devs forgot this.
Turns out. They didn't forget. They just hid it. Because of course they did.
Here's the fix. And I'm almost angry at how simple it is.
Right-click that bottom bar. You know. The thin gray strip at the very bottom of your screen? The one you never look at? Right-click it. A menu pops up. Check "Scene Statistics."
Numbers appear. Like magic. But also like "why wasn't this on already?!"
OR – and this is even better – look at the top-right of your viewport. See that little dropdown arrow? Next to the overlays button? Click it. Enable "Statistics."
Then. Go into edit mode. Start selecting vertices.
And the number changes. Tick tick tick. Every click. Every drag. Real time.
You hear that? The sound of your mouse? That soft plastic click? And the number jumps from 2 to 6 to 11? That feeling when you know exactly how many you've grabbed?
So satisfying. I can't even.
No more guessing. No more counting like a maniac. No more "wait was that vertex selected or is my eyesight just bad?"
Seriously. Try it right now. Open Blender. Add a cube. Tab into edit mode. Turn on Statistics. Click some vertices. Watch the number change.
I'm so mad I spent twenty minutes not knowing this.
