clay didn’t mind parties. he didn’t. but this was far out of the realm of what he was used to. high school and college parties were nothing compared to the fanciful array of oddball foods; not one seemed to match the other. the only reason he’d come tonight was because tony had invited him to this stupid thing to begin with. but then he seemed to disappear, singing some… weird song with tabitha that felt pointed somehow. the distance was apparent since tony hadn’t seemed to be around at all.
so the appearance of a familiar face immediately filled him with relief, and for the first time that night, a smile crossed his face. dressed just like him; a spur of the moment rebellious plan. out of everyone dressed to the nines tonight, she was the best dressed. bambi always had been. “–okay, regina george, whatever you say.” he rolled his eyes as a flush crept up his neck and over his face. he shook his head and sighed, light heartedly, to mask it. “again, these very niche compliments are a you thing.” his grin widened just a bit as his eyes drifted over her. “you look good.” he blurted, before adding on quickly, stepping away from the wall to move next to her automatically. “how do you make overalls look like a fashion statement?”
—— ▸▸ bambi had been to her share events in her life. some were very upscale while others were very dressed down and laxed. this event in particular was somewhere on the spectrum that she just couldn’t quite place. she could say their prom was more organized that this seemed to be . . but she wouldn’t judge too harshly. her father always said ‘when you fail to plan . . you plan to fail’ perhaps this would be a lesson learned to the host. she found herself mingling around a few people, listening to the performances as time ticked passed . . another minute closer to her departure. a few times . . she caught the eye of the familiar charmer dressed clad like herself. a soft smile would cross her lips as she’d walk away. they seemed to always find each others eyes in a humored way. for a split second . . she heard the interesting selection by tony and tabitha finding the song humorous. those weak with words will find other ways to expose their feelings and thoughts.
eventually time would have it that the two would finally have their time to speak. of course he caught the humor in her words as she recited the iconic line. glancing down she leant against the nearby wall nodding. ❝ . . so i’ve watched the movie one too many times. sue me . . ❞ she murmured while taking a sip of her drink chuckling. though . . she did mean what she said. he did look very dashing in his one of a kind way. ❝ some say . . regina george’s speaking lines were based off of my daily vocabulary. ❞ she rolled her eyes finding herself slip closer as they talked. ❝ in all seriousness . . you look very nice tonight jensen . . word around is we are matching tonight . . i couldn’t tell ❞ she kept musing knowing very well that they’d planned this. his compliment made her blush as she glanced to her side noting he’d gotten just a little closer. slipping her hand up and into the front pocket of his overalls . . she lightly tugged him a bit closer as she smiled. ❝ you know . . i think it’s just a natural talent. ❞ keeping her fingers casually in his front pocket she took a second before asking her thought out loud. ❝ are you enjoying yourself ? ❞
