I’ve literally no idea what’s gone on in the newest movie yet, tbh so I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RESPOND TO THIS D:
((From what I understand, it follows the idea of the Horsemen fairly close. Apocalypse chooses four mutants to be Death, War, Pestilence, and Famine, and then corrupts them (most often against their will, but sometimes willingly) and raises their power to the near-max. More often than not, and this is where I feel it’d be sad for Ceri/Con, the Horsemen prefer being that way, atleast while in that form. They also do a lot of reeeaaallly messed up stuff in the comics.))

I picked up #1 of X-Men ‘92 and it’s fantastic please read it

He smiled, again proud of his friend for her progression. “That’s a good way to sell it, that’s for sure.” To be honest, the only time he was ever really that good at fighting was when Logan put him in the highest difficulty simulation in the Danger Room. He was so full of energy that it almost felt like he was outside his own body, watching himself move instinctively. There was a part of Connel that wanted to do that again, to show people he wasn’t as weak as he felt most of the time.
“What are we defining hurt as? I’m not gonna try and knock you out or anything.” Honestly, he wasn’t even sure if he could, though her promise of dessert was a good one. “I need to work on eating like a normal person again, promises of food shouldn’t be this effective.” Laughing, Connel fixed his own gloves and took a deep breath. “Alright, I can do this.” That was moreso to himself than at Ceri.
“If I’m not spitting blood, you’re not hitting hard enough.” She was serious when she’d told him not to be so gentle with her. Cerina could take hits and wore her bruises proudly because each one meant that she was that much closer to being able to withstand stronger blows. She also needed to call up Bucky and talk him into those blunt batons that they’d discussed because she wanted to get a start on those sooner rather than later. Maybe Cerina should have been waiting for the Professor to tell her she was ready for something like that but this was something she wanted to call the shots on, period.
“Then quit talking and prove it.” Yes, she’d keep goading him until she broke him. That was the way Logan had gotten her to break out of her shell and while Bucky didn’t exactly use the same methods, he didn’t go super easy on her either. So she wasn’t going to go easy on Connel for any reason at all. It didn’t matter if they liked each other or if they would be discussing where to go from that little kiss—all of that was left at the door whenever they entered a gym or the Danger Room and she’d be sure to let him know that, too. “I’m waiting, Connel.”
Connel huffed, dropping onto the floor. He had managed that hit in, but it took a lot of taking punches to be able to, and he was fairly certain that without his powers, atleast a few ribs would be broken from how intense they both got. “Maybe instead of lunch, we could just nurse our wounds. Food can wait for after I can feel my side again.” With that he let out a little laugh and lay on the ground, his stomach quietly growling in protest.
After a second of breathing he sat back up and rolled his joints around, stretching in an effort to get feeling past the bruises. Despite the soreness and bruising, there was a definite smile on Connel’s face. “Is it bad to say I liked that? Felt better than the Danger Room, that’s for sure...” It was hard to pin down what exactly he liked about it, he tended to hate fighting of must sorts.

He rolled his eyes and smiled at her, eventually nodding in agreement. “My sleep schedule is pretty abyssmal anyways, so maybe morning exercise would do me some good. Right now, I just nap whenever possible.” Connel laughed, grateful that she had so fluidly changed the subject to something he actually agreed was interesting. He had only really ran in Genosha, and most of that was from one end of the capital to the other.
“Tai Chi? I’ve seen people use that. I’ll check out yoga first, either way.” Another shrug and he let out a little chuckle as she explained herself. “I feel the same way. The gym’s not the best place to be talking about… stuff.” He wasn’t sure what to call it. Relationship stuff, he guessed. “Really? I bet I’ll get you in atleast one of those rounds. I know I will. I’m a quick learner, you know.”
“Yoga’s good for calming the spirit. I like it because it keeps me from having spazz attacks during the day. It’s part of the reason you don’t see me wearing my gloves anymore.” She was thinking about moving onto Tai Chi eventually but she was pretty okay with just the yoga for now. Cerina had never been much for the whole battle ready thing anyway. What she was learning while training with Bucky and occasionally Logan was mostly self-defense and meant just to keep her in shape. And unbeknownst to anybody else, she wanted the skills just in case she ever had to defend someone else—like her brother. Bucky could handle himself, he’d proven that plenty of times, but he’d also come home to her wounded before and that was what sparked her interest in learning hand to hand and weapon combat.
Snorting a little bit she rolled her eyes and took her hair down for a split second so she could shake it out and pull it back up again. “Listen, if you can land a punch on me and actually make it hurt, I will not only buy your lunch but I will buy your dessert as well, and let you pick wherever it is we go.” Part of her wanted to challenge him with something else but food was the only reward she could think of that wouldn’t set her body blazing with a flare up. Promising kisses and things would only distract Cerina herself and that wasn’t the point here. Fixing the training gloves on her hands, she put her fists up and waved her fingers at him. “C’mon big shot. Put your money where your mouth is.”

It’s interesting to think about where Connel would stand in CA:CW. He’s not from DoFP anymore so he’s less paranoid about the future, but he’d almost refuse to join the conflict. It’d be interesting tbh

“I guess I just sorta meant in general? We can keep goin though, yeah. Maybe it’ll help me process.” He shrugged and took another drink before laughing a little. “Yeah, I guess you’re right, huh? We didn’t know how to deal with it then, and we don’t now. I’m sure we’ll figure something out.”
He stretched a little and sighed. “Didn’t Logan say we’d end up doing this? Ten to one he made a bet with Bobby.” He felt himself getting a little less… blabbery, which was good. “So how much more of the afternoon is me losing these practice fights?” He smirked and drew himself into a more confident stance.
“Maybe if you’d get your head out of the clouds you’d stop losing.” Back to taunting. Definitely good. “Listen, let me give you a little tip—take up yoga. It clears your head and it keeps you balanced. It’s done wonders for me and I do it with Logan almost every morning.” She had to get up at the asscrack of dawn in order to meet him in their spot on the campus so they could go through the regimen but it was well worth it. It kept her warmed up through the day and calm enough so she didn’t have to worry about flare ups unless something particularly stressful happened.
“I think it would do you a lot of good, honestly. And if you don’t want to do yoga, try Tai Chi. That will definitely help in the long run with your fluidity in battle and if you wanna be an X-Man, that’s something you should have under your belt.” No, she didn’t want to touch on the subject of them anymore. Maybe they could save that for the after-gym lunch. It was much easier to talk about this sort of thing when she wasn’t supposed to be concentrating on getting her workout in. “And before you say anything about me avoiding the subject, I’m not avoiding the subject. I’m putting it off to the side so we can finish up here and go get something to eat. So… two or three more rounds of you getting your butt kicked and we can get out of here. Does that sound okay to you?”
