Quiet Does Not Mean Silent

{{ We are home from Michigan all safe and sound. The interior of the house seems to be fine with no obvious damage anywhere.

We have power now and the internet and cable are both up and running. (We were told by the power company that we might not have it until the 24th, so we were really happy last night to discover it on when we got home.)

Several trees outside came down, but we were lucky in that they fell to the side instead of on the house. The back fence was taken out by fallen trees, but again, the house wasn’t touched by the falling tree and wind-thrown debris.

The only leakage from the hurricane seems to have been from the rain and water coming in around the front door so we’ll need to dry out and replace the carpet there.

I am really wiped out so plan to do a lot of sleeping today interspersed with some laundry and working on my owed tag/draft responses.

I’m just really damn glad to be back home.

It took us 15 hours to get home from Michigan last night and I’m exhausted and I ache like hell from the driving and the air mattress for the last week.

I am currently safe in Michigan, far out of reach of Hurricane Florence.

From the reports we’ve been getting there is flooding and downed trees and power lines all over the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods as well.

“Mostly rock, but sometimes I do some softer stuff on my own,” he shrugged as his own pen scrolled out notes as well. He had to do well in this class if he wanted to keep his scholarship.  “Nice to see another musician that isn’t just another pretty face, not that you aren’t,” he backpedaled.  “Okay, that sounded better in my head. I just… I meant you were smart too.”

“Maybe I’ll get to hear you play something some time, then.” she said as she continued to take notes, only looking away from her notebook when the professor wasn’t paying attention.

She turned to look at him, her smile not distracting from the fact that she was blushing slightly.  “Thank you for the compliments. Both of them.”

“Amir,” He replied, shaking her hand. He was still concerned with her scent, but she seemed nice enough. He of all people wasn’t one to judge. 

“What do you play?” He questioned, his hand running through a mass of unmanageable curls atop his head. 

“I play bass and guitar, I do a few gigs on the weekend with a few buddies of mine,” he explained.

“I play piano and keyboards, but I also sing.  I try to write or compose my own stuff sometimes.” She started taking notes as the professor started his lecture. “What kind of music do you play?”
