Emergency services, residents and environmental groups say military dropping flares to destroy forests and crops

Firefighters and residents of south Lebanon have accused the Israeli military of lighting wildfires in the region, as forested areas burned down in blazes sparked by Israeli bombing. Environmental groups said the fires in recent weeks were part of a longstanding Israeli practice of targeting Lebanon’s natural environment. On Tuesday, the Israeli military dropped flares in a wooded area outside Khiam, in south Lebanon, sparking blazes. When firefighters attempted to extinguish the flames, a drone struck close by, forcing them to withdraw, said the head of the civil defence in the Nabatieh region, Hussein Fakih. “Most of our missions are now related to fires,” Fakih said. “There are enormous areas of woodland that have burned, I don’t have the exact figures, but in the areas close to the [frontline], around 30-40% of the land has been affected by fires.”

Colombia Earthquake Relief

Hello, if you haven't heard yet, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit Western Colombia this morning. The death toll so far is at least 111. I'm lucky that my family living there was safe and unaffected from what I've heard so far, but many are suffering right now from loss of family, friends, homes, work, transportation and pets.

I've gathered links to donate to verified relief in the area. My heart goes out to anyone suffering in Colombia right now.

Well, you see,,,

It's kind of funny (being sarcastic) that I was diagnosed 2-4 years ago with mild OCD when I'm pretty sure my OCD is not just mild given that when I was being questioned to receive a diagnosis in the first place, I never actually considered the way I experience intrusive thoughts. It's taken me at least until the last year to realize that I DO experience intrusive thoughts (and they are FUCKING WEIRD considering that I'm asexual!!!!!! EXTREMELY weird!).

Anyway...once I go back to therapy and am PROPERLY diagnosed with OCD, IT'S OVER FOR ME, BITCHES. I mean...well, yeah. Something like that. Hopefully. lol

I realized recently how incredibly good and important the song "Put Your Records On" by Corinne Bailey Rae is, so yesterday I was looking up to find out what Corinne said about the inspiration behind the song (since she is a co-writer of it), and one of the things she said about it resonated with me SO FUCKING DEEPLY: "I found that as a young person, music was a really amazing way to find confidence and to find self-expression. You could always find that song that's like, 'That's just me. That person knows exactly how I feel.' Certain pop songs. I feel like I just put on music and feel like invincible and super confident and bold and let the music sort of carry you. To me, that's what my favorite song is doing. It would turn me from being someone that was shy or self conscious or uncomfortable into a feeling really sort of bold and confident while that song is on, you kind of live in the song."

So when I read that I decided, 'Oh yeah, this is one of the most important songs ever written.' Because she reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally gets it.

#and yes maybe part of my sudden and deep love for it is that it is beautifully a summer-esque song which is fitting for the season #AND because summer is so SUMMER this year (as every year until climate change is lessened and reversed will be) it's especially needed #to make the season better. but maybe also I'm just being nostalgic. I dunno. perhaps both #but I just am obsessed with how sweet and yet also how empowering it is - since she wrote it for her child-aged self 🥹#in that regard it is LITERALLY perfect. an absolutely perfect song.#crystal visions of lilies in the valley #I haven't even been listening to it on repeat (yet) - I was just thinking of the lyrics and went 'wait. this song is way better than I #initially thought. like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.' and then her quote about it cemented that thinking even more!
