Hey how’s the mtg scene now of days? You play standard or some other format?
I checked Tumblr on a whim, so I'm sorry if this question is ages old. Locally, standard was kind of dead for the last Ravnica block, which made me really sad because I really enjoyed it. MtG Arena is great if you don't mind a Hearthstone-esque user experience and playing standard. There is/was a format called Pioneer that seemingly became popular recently, but I'll be honest, I haven't looked into it much.
Modern/Legacy is always big but it can get so expensive so quickly. I play EDH most often and even that can get pricey, but budget decks are also totally possible.
My best advice would be to find a playgroup with friends, maybe visit a few shops, and see what your local scene is like. Worst case scenario, your group just ends up ordering cards online and building EDH decks to mess around with!
