I'm gonna be honest, if a Tumblr post mildly shitting on what you perceive as a flaw you have, has the capacity to make you give up on pursuing writing, then you're the type of artist who's going to be unwilling to improve or learn and will forever create bad art, which is still art, but not something I think even the people around you would lament on "missing out". The alternative is also you're the artist who will double down on said flaw just to "spite the critics", which if you also embody the average fandom tumblr-user, will probably result in the most tone deaf racist art imaginable. So also, not a big loss.

The way people will literally go out of their way to say "gnc men are super heckin valid!" and all the variations of that statement, but will get actually upset when a trans woman says "you can be a woman" like I actually kinda want you people dead ngl

I’m certainly not the first transfem to bring this up but there really is something to be said about how tmes arguing with trans women will suddenly and irrelevantly bring up their own personal trauma as a way to shut down any disagreement. I.e. once the trauma has been laid out any further disagreement with their initial argument can be framed as diminishing or even celebrating their trauma. I’ve seen this happen too many times not to notice a pattern

this is part of an interesting phenomenon i've noticed where the shorthands people come up with for things wind up being far more annoying than the thing they're actually describing. like if i see a game calling itself a "cozy game" i'm rolling my eyes like good lord we need to put this cozy game shit on the shelf already. but if the same game instead calls itself a "farming sim" i'm just like yup, that's what that is. and then i move on because it's not really my cup of tea. i don't know what to make of this
