I’m a big fan of fungi and fungi adjacent organisms, I’m studying science in hopes of one day becoming a mycologist. Mushrooms, lichens, slime molds and mycoheterotrophs in particular have my heart. 

I’m also a huge nature enjoyer, a bit of an adrenaline junkie, sorta accident/injury prone, and a decent player of sports and creator of art.

Like, for example. I’ve always thought that I faked my nose being broken. That I made it up, pretended it was worse than it was for sympathy or something but like… that’s genuinely straight up stupid? Why do I think that?

Like, my nose is a different shape than it used to be. There’s a clear bump in it. A doctor at a hospital told me my nose was broken, that I had nasal deformity, and a concussion as a little cherry on top. My whole face was bruised for weeks and hurt like hell, my nose bled for the first time in my life, and I’m only now, four years later in the middle of the night, starting to think that maybe I didn’t actually fake it?

I feel this way about most of my injuries. The broken arm I got when I was nine, I’ve been certain my whole life that I faked it, but now I’m thinking wait a minute, I got an x-ray at a hospital for that. There’s no way I could have faked a broken bone on an x-ray at nine years old. So there’s no way I could have faked it, why have I always thought that?

I don’t think I’ve ever actually admitted that I think I fake all my injuries, because I don’t want people to think I’m someone who does that, but I don’t fake injuries, there’s so much proof that those were all real injuries. It’s just so ingrained in my head that I’ve faked every injury I ever got in my life for attention. Which is weird because when I get hurt my instinct is to fully go on the defensive. I don’t want attention, I act like an animal backed into a corner, I’ve literally tried to drag myself away from and yelled at paramedics while injured because all my dumb lizard brain thinks when I’m in pain is that I have to fight off anyone who gets close.

So I messaged them and they were all happy to talk to me and said sorry they forgot to message they were thinking about it too but it kept getting away from them or they felt like it would be weird.

Someone free me. Get me out of this evil sport.

I saw one of these irl while out foraging once, I thought it was a dead animal at first but then I realized what it was! Very exciting stuff.
