Day 15: Armadillo. Since we already covered the iconic armadillo-like dinosaur, here’s one from the same family. Minmi! This smaller ankylosaur was known for her longer legs, most likely used for running and hiding under dense foliage from predators.

Day 14: Empty. Unfortunately I got really sick after NYCC so I have a lot of catching up to do! Here is fan favorite Stegosaurus, one his more popular features being his small brain. A small brain in a big world!

Day 13: Kind. Daspletosaurus, a member of the Tyrannosaur family, has given us so much insight to the genus as a whole. Recent discoveries have found that these guys had a very sensitive snout: perfect for picking up eggs and young. They even could have used it for foreplay!

Day 12: Forget. Brontosaurus: a dinosaur that had faded from everyone’s memory after it was determined to be the same genus as Apatosaurus. Recently, studies have shown that there may be enough differences between the two to separate them, however paleontologists still can’t agree.

Day 11: Eagle. Aquilops, meaning “eagle face”, was only about the size of a bunny. This funky little dude was one the earliest, and smallest, ceratopsian around.

Day 10: Crabby. We actually know a surprising amount about the Shuvuuia! This little owl-like dinosaur was nocturnal and hunted for insects at night. Would be a bit crabby during the day don’t you think?

Day 9: Nest. Everyone’s favorite, Velociraptor. We’ve learned a lot about them over the years, the among my favorite things is the fact that most avian theropods protected their nests from predators!

Day 8: Match: For a while it’s been thought that Pachycephalosaurus, Stygimoloch, and Dracorex were not individual species, but instead one dinosaur at different growth stages. This Dracorex is trying to pick a fight with his mom.

Day 6: Bouquet. Protarchaeopteryx, unlike most feathered theropods, actually feasted on plant matter and was at least an omnivore if not a complete herbivore!

Day 5: Flame. Chenanisaurus was one of the last dinosaurs alive before the mass-extinction. The mass-extinction that caused havoc on the entirety of the environment, including wildfires.

Day 4: Scallop. Today we have a popular fan favorite, ankylosaurus! Known of course for the scalloped shaped plates down its back.

Day 3: Bat. Ambopteryx is definitely the cutest avian theropod around. These little omnivores not only had feathers but bat-like membranous wings as well!
