a pyramid of heads,  flies buzzing amidst the carrion.          one settles on the rotting maw of his former girlfriend,  a cruel reminder of his misdeeds.          an ever steep mine shaft,  except now he’s the one falling and the screeches of the cursed wendigos echo and reverberate on the walls     ——     they’re laughing.

TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT.          months had passed by in idle grief,  moving through each stage in turn with those lucky     (     unlucky ?   )     enough to remain standing.          they had mourned and screamed and turned upon one another,  but ultimately one another was all they had,  differences cast aside in favour of the one similarity that had glued them together in the first place.

he’d watched ashley cry,  he’d seen the blood on chris’ knuckles and said nothing.          sam had been the first to move unto a begrudging acceptance,  and many had followed suit within the next few weeks.          mike was still waiting his turn,  going along with the laughs and the jokes     (   how does he manage to launch a bowling ball with three fingers anyway ?          a magician never tells   !   )     until they felt unbearable in his mouth.          they’re still on the mountain.          is he meant to just let that fester ?

where y’think you’re going ?

his hands pause,  mechanical,  on the zip of a loaded sports bag,  the tension in his shoulders not dissuaded by the familiarity of the voice interrogating him.          the way out of his predicament isn’t clear,  so he stalls for time,  his breaths slow and steady.          he doesn’t turn to face her,  instead looking over his shoulder and barely catching her silhouette in the corner of his eye.

I’ve given this advice twice, but now I’mma put it out there for everyone to see cause I see a lot of the people I follow struggle with doing their drafts.

Drafts should never

feel like work

stress you out

make you want to procrastinate

upset you in any way other than the feelsy way

make you dread someone replying

If they do

just let them sit there

archive them with xkit

throw them in a folder on your browser

drop some

go on a semi-hiatus/full hiatus

because really drafts should

leave you super excited for the next reply

come easily if the mood is right

give you a much needed break from work/school/life

give you the best/worst feels ever

and remember

this is a hobby

none of us are getting paid for it

it’s okay to be self-centered and worry exclusively about yourself

just don’t be a dick to others

but seriously, put anything you need to above replies

and if anyone tells you otherwise

end them

but really just tell them it isn’t going to work like that

and if they don’t back off, drop them

because you are all great and deserve to be happy

and if anyone is fucking with that

seriously— end them
