“guys, we literally have a dishwasher. stop leaving the spoons in the sink,” jungah called out into the apartment. she wasn’t surprised when she was met with silence– she usually was. they were all adults, but why did she feel like she was the only real adult? the alpha adult, if you will. putting the spoons in the dishwasher herself, she sighed, walking over to the bedroom and poking her head in to see both of her girls laying together. “you two are literally the messiest people i have ever met in my fucking life. i’d hire a maid, but you’d probably scare her off.”

while soori heard her clear as day, she pretended like she didn’t, burying her head into the covers with a groan, cuddling up against the youngest. head still buried into her back when jungah came in, she rolled her eyes. “or i’d seduce her and she’d fall in love with us and move in and clean up so you don’t have to,” soori grumbled back, voice a little muffled. “you’d finally get a break. isn’t that a great plan?”

“oh, i won’t do anything about it. you get free reign. but i’m also not stopping zephyr from ending your sorry ass when he sees what you’ve done to his ship.”

“i’m not an engineering machine, orion. you can’t just push me and push me without giving me any…reward or indication that you care or information about what it’s for, and expect me to keep weathering it. am i not part of this crew yet? cuz this sorta thing makes a girl really think about exploring other options.”

“i can give you a reward,” orion grumbled, eyes narrowing as his fingers danced up her thighs, pausing and resting dangerously close to sensitive areas of her body. “other options? what other options do you have? your colony was raided, and we were the ones who rescued you. the alliance will see you as a runaway, and the empire will see you as a traitor. you have nowhere else to go,” he told her. “you’re an engineer. surely you can figure it out. you’re a smart girl.”

“you know, you could try to be social every once in a while. it wouldn’t hurt you,” comet snorted. “you’ve been on the crew for, what? like a decade? and you never leave your room. how sad.”

“you know what will be sad? your funeral when i slit your throat.”

he’d felt pride when the structure had collapsed, sending the last of their foes fleeing, but that glee didn’t last very long. after a moment, his eyes widened, and he turned to his partner. “jetta, there are civilians stuck under there,” he muttered quickly. “we need to try to un-pin them. like, yesterday.”

“fuck,” jetta grumbled, quickly jumping into action. she ran for the biggest piece of crumbling infrastructure, surveying the mess. “sterling, i’ll hold this shit up-- you start evacuating people,” she told him, before bracing herself and lifting the giant concrete slab.

“it would be wise to stop,” phaedra said, playful smile on her lips. “though i want nothing more than this, we are in your library. anyone could walk in. you need not be a psychic to know how poorly that would turn out.”

“you are the harbinger, are you not?” niobe asked with a sly smile, positioning herself between phaedra’s legs and pulling her closer by the hips. “you can warn us if anyone is approaching. you say that like many people come to visit me anyway.”

“okay but….do you call the queen your highness when you’re fucking? these are the real questions.”

“i....that is...hardly appropriate,” thisbe scolded, blushing fiercely. “and hardly your business, cassandra.”

“please, ceto– i need not practice myself to death. i think you overestimate how dangerous man’s world is,” io chided lightly. “though dirtier, it is not much different than here. i need not all this extra training.”

“i care not your opinion on this matter, io,” ceto snapped. “you may believe you are above training, but you have grown rusty. man’s world or not, no amazons under my command will let their skills slip.”

“it’s not girls night if your significant other comes, you know,” yijung whined, pulling on jetta’s wrist. “i’m not saying lexie isn’t a girl. what i’m saying is you and i need to escape from the zeros for a night and just…get drinks or something.”

“you’re a handful when you’re drunk. i don’t want to have to deal with that alone-- that’s all i’m saying,” jetta countered, rolling her eyes. “you plan it, i’ll be there.”

“so…..you’re a fancy bodyguard. in a toga. with nice tits. that’s what i’m getting from this.”

“i don’t believe i am familiar with the slang you are using, my dear.”

“h-how am i supposed to concentrate if you’re doing that,” lexie asked, more flustered than frustrated as she looked up at jetta. “this is important, you know.”

“you’re not-- that’s the point,” jetta said with a smirk, teeth grazing the soft skin of lexie’s neck. “it can wait a while. you’ll survive.”

“you are much too cunning to be bullied by scylla– i know not why you put up with her needling when you could so easily put her in her place.”

“she is harmless. i think it a waste of time to wage war with her.”
