Fraternal Twin is a band driven by the guitar work and gentle musing of songwriter Tom Christie. Their debut record Skin Gets Hot was released by Apollonian Sound, the label who’s team is now merging with Mt. Home Arts. Skin Gets Hot was recently reissued by Ghost Ramp, who will also be releasing their follow-up record Homeworlding. Mt. Home will also release a limited edition version of it. Tom will be performing an acoustic set at the showcase!

Paper Bee is the music of Nick Berger, a punk band full of urgency, driving choruses, and looping harmonies. Mt. Home released their record “Now I Know You and See How Wide You Are to the World” on limited edition cassette earlier this year, a split with sister project Loone. We are very excited to have them back in Brooklyn at the showcase! Listen here!

Rachel Gordon is both a visual artist and a musician, and though her cassette release with Mt. Home Arts is credited as Baby Mollusk, her songwriting moniker, her illustrations for the package are an artwork in their own right. At the showcase she will be showing artwork made during her current residency at the Manhattan Graphics Center. She will also be singing with Tim Woulfe in the soft choir.

Megan Manowitz is a visual artist and writer who is also a collective member and event organizer at Silent Barn. Mt. Home published Soft Openings, a zine and silkscreen print of words and images posted to her Tumblr in 2014. She continues to work in both the physical and virtual realm, making prints, books, t-shirts, publishing a ‘newsletter’ of writing, and organizing conceptual parties. At the showcase, Megan will be showing and selling writing and visual work.

Tim Woulfe has been self releasing his music for many years, first as Apollonian Sound, which he founded, and now as Mt. Home Arts! Tim plays soothing and introspective folky music, and will be performing at the showcase with a pick-up choir of friends involved in the event. Listen to his newest record “No World, All Thunder” here.

Alex is an illustrator, animator, and comic artist who has published several prints with Mt. Home. He self-publishes comics and participates in comic and zine fairs all over country. He and Krystal Downs will be organizing a screening of local animators at the upcoming Paper Jam Festival at the Silent Barn. Alex has been collaborating with the local artist Jensine Eckwall on an animation that will debut at the showcase! He will also have books and prints for sale.

Anna Shepperson is a painter and digital artist who also helped out with Mt. Home for a time. Mt. Home published a silkscreen printed book of her drawings, which she will have at the showcase along with some new prints, and a new book of writing and drawings.

Elaiza Santos is the mastermind behind the moniker 100%, who first rose to prominence in the diy/bedroom/internet music scene as Whatever, Dad. Together with Mt. Home, Elaiza produced a carefully crafted take-out box full of goodies, including a cassette tape of her music. Elaiza is also now a member of the Mt. Home Arts team. She will perform an acoustic set on Wednesday and then head out across the country on tour with Real Life Buildings.

Peter Schranz is a fiction writer who has been self-publishing his short stories since 2008, first as zines and more recently as print-on-demand books. Peter lives in Philadelphia and is also the webmaster of dailydoofus.com. Peter has not collaborated with Mt. Home in the past, but we are big fans of his writing, and hopefully there is something a-brewing..! He will give a reading at our showcase this Wednesday!

One of our favorite artists and now long-standing collaborator Heather Swenson is making a tiny silkscreen print every week for all of 2016! It's called The Tiny Print Project, and I'm very excited to say that we'll have almost every print from the project so far in-person and for sale at the showcase! And they each come in a tiny lil folder with the week number on the back. Heather will be showing these prints in September at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, but we're getting to em first!
advance tickets are here. FB event is here.
Real Life Buildings will be kicking off a full US tour at the Mt. Home Showcase, and they’ve got a new (and kind of secret) tape to share with you! They have a new record that is coming out later this year, but they've made cassette versions to bring on their upcoming tour. These will be physical-realm-only for now! You can only get them in person, and you can only hear these songs live in concert or via one of these tapes! It's an edition of 100, four colors on two sides of a sheet of paper all nicely folded up and glued, with a lyric booklet stapled in too. They'll be bringing a handful of Mt. Home releases across the USA with them, so if you aren't in NYC, hopefully you can still make it out to one of these shows: 08/17/16 - Brooklyn, NY @ The Silent Barn 08/19/16 - Pittsburgh, PA @ The Mr. Roboto Project 08/20/16 - Detroit, MI @ Kelly’s 08/21/16 - Chicago, IL @ Pinky Swear 08/22/16 - Minneapolis, MN @ Kitty Kat Klub 08/24/16 - Denver, CO @ BackSpace Denver 08/26/16 - Salt Lake City, UT @ Diabolical Records 08/27/16 - Boise, ID @ Boogie House 08/28/16 - Portland, OR @ TBA* 08/29/16 - Seattle, WA @ The Future* 08/30/16 - Olympia, WA @ New Moon* 09/02/16 - Arcata, CA @ The Bat Cave 09/03/16 - Oakland, CA @ Ridgeway House 09/04/16 - Los Angeles, CA @ Junior High 09/05/16 - San Diego, CA @ Che Cafe 09/06/16 - Phoenix, AZ @ Leaf House 09/07/16 - Tucson, AZ @ TBA 09/07/16 - Fort Worth, TX @ 1919 Hemphill 09/10/16 - Austin, TX @ Honey House 09/11/16 - New Orleans, LA @ Circle Bar 09/12/16 - Birmingham, AL @ Desert Island Supply Co. 09/13/16 - Raleigh, NC @ Radio Shack 09/14/16 - Washington D.C. @ Slash Run *with Dogbreth! Hi y'all, My name's Noel'le, and I'm writing this letter with my partner Nick. We are two trans folks living rurally and collectively in a small town in Western Mass. We've just had $3500 stolen from us in a professional and organized used car scam. This has harmed both us and our collective,...
This is the first time I’ve participated in crowdfunding, and frankly, have been pretty averse to doing so at other moments of need in the past. This is a hard enough time that I’m turning to y’all to help. If you’re able to contribute, that would be so deeply appreciated, and if not, please consider sharing this small campaign. Thank you so much.
