Nobody could believe that Leiomi was actually getting married. For one, she was a baby still wet behind the ears, and two, many people back in Chicago thought it was to show up her ex. She thought Marcus was the one, especially since they were engaged. and were due to have a pregnancy. The love they had for each other was fast and consuming. Everybody saw the two of them blowing up, and they did. Now Lei was left alone while he moved on with ease, and gave the family she worked for to another.Â
Now here she was, in a bridal shop with her aunt and two cousins. âYou betta give the people train tomorrow!â Jamal was overjoyed that his baby cousin was trying her best to move on. He was the one up at night with Leiomi while she cried, so he understood that she needed some type of love. âYou donât think its too much, Kamiyah?â She looked over at her baby cousin, the one she would cross the seven seas for. âI told you I like the mermaid one, you have all that body show it off. It will be the first time he gets to see it.â In her eyes she wanted Leiomi to show him what he had in his hands .Â
âWell what do you like Omi Pie.â Her aunt, Candice, smiled as she walked up behind her. She always knew Leiomi to know the look that she wanted, and practically raising her, she knew something was wrong. She walked behind her niece, and rubbed her back and just looked at her and smiled. It was that look that got her to crack.Â
âSheâs really not coming is she?â Leiomi was talking about her mother. Their relationship was rocky to begin with, and then throwing this type of union on top of it didnât help. âOnce she remarried that pastor she changed, and it angers me to see you hurting this bad on this day, so you go back there clean yourself up, and find that dress.â They smiled at each other before she went to the back.Â
Leiomi knew that her mother held marriage to a higher standard, but she thought for her daughter that she would come around, but she wasnât. Now it was up to her to prove her mother wrong.Â
âI really lo-.â She stopped walking and talking when she came out and seen her dad.
âI told them they had to let me fly. I aint never been there for my girl, and today I gotta do better. Thatâs the one.â Derrick confirmed it for her.Â
