Taylor had just left Busy Bee’s with a bouquet of purple lilies for her house, since the last one had died on her. She stepped out onto the sidewalk, not even noticing that the heel of her shoe started to break off, until it did, making her trip and quickly hold on to something.”Oh no….no, no no, no….” she whined, looking down at her precious heel. “I had these for three summers now, why did you break…” @frostfordstart​

Diana saw the entire scene unfold and watched in horror as her heel broke. She rushed over to her, already rummaging around in her bag, hoping she had something that could help-- some glue, a stick of gum, maybe. “Shit, don’t you just hate that? And they’re so cute, too,” she grimaced. “Hold on-- I might have somethin’ to hold it together until you can get home. I’m sure you can get it fixed, they can’t be completely done for.”

“Twenty dollars right now, all yours, no strings attached,” Sol states, holding up the twenty he spoke of, before adding one string adjacent caveat, “If you can guess the weirdest cause of a fire I’ve ever uncovered. One guess maximum. Go.”

“---Only one guess? Can I get a hint, at least?” Diana tapped on her chin as she tried to think. “Did someone’s hair catch fire under one of Wanda Pritchett’s heat lamps? No, wait, wait-- I don’t think that’s my final answer, I just can’t think of anythin’ more weird than that--” she glanced around frantically, trying to think of another crazy way a fire could start-- she’d never thought of it before. 

“Read my damn mind, Di! Man, I’ve been cravin’ some nuggies.” If the drive wasn’t so far he’d be all for it, but his stomach is insisting on getting some food within the next hour, or else.

“What d’you think about Hogtied, instead? We can still get some greasy burgers and fries, and work on those fast food plans.”

“We need to go to the Hot Topic before we leave, okay? I need my fix of graphic tees and the book store,” she told @msdianahamilton​ her tone as serious as she ever was. “Where should we go first?” She stopped in front of the directory, eyeing it. They didn’t venture out to the mall very often since it was a bit of a drive, but Amanda had been dying to go for a while now, pestering her cousin about it.

“I can’t convince you to go to Dillard’s or somethin’? Get you a nice summer dress? Y’know, it’s gonna be a real hot one, all that black’s gonna make you attract even more heat,” Diana told her cousin, giving her a little smile as they stood in the middle of the mall. “--I’ll give you ten minutes in Hot Topic. Maybe I’ll find somethin’ to wear on my date tonight.” 

“I-” she started, stopping herself as her eyes scanned Diana’s face, chuckling lightly, “How old are you before I answer that question.” 

“--Should I take that as a compliment? I’m gonna take it as one. I almost had a heart attack ‘cause I thought I had a gray hair the other day. How old d’you think I look?” 

Dean’s brow furrowed, and well, while he was no gentleman, when he noticed her try not to look at him, he reached over and tossed on a shirt that was sitting near the door. “No, can’t even say I’ve seen it ‘round here before.” Then again, he wouldn’t have paid attention enough to notice either.

Diana smiled down at the cat before turning back to him and smiling sheepishly. “Must’ve wandered off and gotten lost, I’m guessin’, I’m surprised you didn’t hear her-- poor thing was cryin’,” she murmured as she cooed at the cat. “Anyways, sorry to disturb you, I’ll see if maybe she belongs to someone else around here.”

Morgan nodded along to every word that came out of Diana’s mouth, really vibing with what she was saying. It sounded very plausible and also really endearing in a way, but as soon as Diana started giggling all bets were off, and Morgan started too. Her friend’s giggles next to her, only making Morgan laugh harder herself. “I think that is a very good observation. One I might have to second for myself.” She perched up on her elbows to drink some of her own beer. “Good thing we could just sleep out here if it’s too much for us to walk back inside.”

Diana just barely managed to fight back more laughter, wiping at the tears in her eyes as she giggled, laying her head back and looking back up at the sky. “Very true. Except if anythin’ creepy crawly comes near me, I might cry,” Di replied with a chuckle. “--I didn’t realize how much I needed this tonight,” she murmured. “How’re you, though? Besides y’know...drunk off your ass?”

Willow is doing her normal errands around town with her usual suspect, Edie the hen. Edie waddles just behind Willow as she checks off some items on a list, distracted only until she sees her hen make a sprint for someone just ahead of her.

She’s confused for a split second, but it all makes sense the second she spots Diana. Edie was especially fond of Diana during the months they dated, and clearly nothing has changed as the hen chirps up to her. Willow puts on a brave smile before she takes a few steps forward. “Hey, uh… sorry. You know Edie. She can never resist going over to say hi to a familiar face.”

Diana leisurely sipped on her iced coffee as she walked down Main Street, not quite paying attention to anything or anyone as she scrolling through her playlist as she prepared to head back home after a run. She wiped at her perspiring brow when she heard a familiar clucking-- she turns to see Edie, Willow’s hen charging towards her. Laughing, she stopped in her tracks, forgetting that if Edie was around, that meant Willow would be close by as she kneeled down. She quickly brushed her hair away from her face as she saw Willow, flashing her a quick smile. “It’s okay, I’d hate to upset her by not sayin’ hello,” she replied with a chuckle as she gave Edie a nuzzle against her neck with her knuckle. She really wished she hadn’t run into Willow when she looked like a gross sweaty mess. “--How’re you? Y’all headin’ home?”

Maisie laughed as she took her offered hand and pulled herself up.  “I could never turn down an offer like that!  I’ll make sure whoever’s on register gives us the employee discount,” she promised.  “Least I could do to thank you for wakin’ me up from an unplanned nap.” With her luck, she’d have rolled down the hill and into the creek or somethin ridiculous.  

“The employee discount? --Have I mentioned you’re my favorite Duchanne,” Diana teased, giving the youngest Duchanne a grin and a slight nudge with her elbow. “I knew there was a reason I liked you. But seriously, it’s on me. --Can you always fall asleep wherever you want, or did you just not get enough sleep last night?” The brunette asked, giving Maisie a small smile. 

“Ya ever wonder if any of the greats of the past look down on us from the stars? Ya know, makes me feel less alone.” Morgan asked, turning her head to look at @msdianahamilton​ as she stared up into the sky. She held her beer on her stomach, enjoying the cool air. It was perfect for a night out of just stargazing and having a few drinks. Or well a few drinks down now. The weather was perfect, it was still pretty warm and not too cold and this was exactly the kinda low key night that she needed. 

“I think that when we die, we all become a star and we shine down for millions of years. Not just the greats, but every soul who’s ever walked the Earth. That’s why there’s so many of ‘em up there,” Diana murmured back to Morgan, lifting her head up to take a sip of her own beer, sighing softly as she leaned back again. “It is pretty comfortin’, though, isn’t it? Knowin’ everyone who’s ever been is up there, watchin’ over us.” She went quiet for a moment before her body began to shake-- she tried staying quiet, but cracked up, looking over at her friend as she giggled hysterically. “--I think I’m drunk.”

“Now, to what do I owe this pleasure?” Dean greeted, shirtless and all, as he opened the front door. He wasn’t expecting company at all, then again he wouldn’t have gotten dressed for it either. @frostfordstart​

As soon as the door opened, Diana turned to face him before quickly averting her eyes. “Uhhh-- Is this your cat?” Diana held up a gray cat she’d found roaming around as she was on her way back home. “Found her roaming around, thought you might’ve lost her.”

“Sorry, you were saying…?” Josephine asked startled as she took her glance away from the far screen; she had been finished playing with her famly, her siblings had taken the kids to Custards and she had told them she’d catch them soon as she was caught with the film at the drive-in. “I was watching the film.” She pointed a the screen.

“--Oh, just that it’s your turn,” Diana replied with a quick smile. “I like watchin’ too, but I really hate not being able to hear what’s going on. Though I’ve seen The Money Pit so many times, I could probably quote it by heart.”

To say that Jamie was relieved to have Diana on the receiving end was an understatement. At least he knew she wasn’t going to smack him, but he still hated how he had stooped to the low of taking such a ridiculous dare. He chuckled. “Maybe I just wanted a kiss this time.”

“Oh, just a kiss, nothin’ else?” Diana pursed her lips in amusement as she looked up at him. “You sure ‘bout that? I can just go ‘bout my night?”

Cara wasn’t usually one for being a beacon of smiles or sunshine around Frostford. Catching her looking like she was enjoying herself was a rarity so she forced her smile away the minute she was caught eating at Custard’s. “I swear, if you tell anyone you saw me here lookin’ like a kid in a candy store, you better tell ‘em it’s cause I was here and this stuff is too good to be mean about.” @frostfordstart 

“I make no promises,” Diana replied, her lips turning up into a slight smile. “You mind if I join you, though? Mine is already startin’ to melt, I don’t wanna end up drippin’ all over the place.”

“it’s pride month which means everyone owes me at least a $20 donation for keeping things interesting around here so… where’s your payment?” she asked, deadpan serious for a few moments before cracking a laugh to show she was clearly joking. ( @frostfordstart​ )
