A new study suggests that happy peopleâfar from being self-centered or disengagedâare more willing to tackle social problems.
A new study suggests that happier people are more motivated to act when it comes to social problems. Community organizers and social justice advocates should keep this in mind when developing engagement strategies. To get the most out of our engagement efforts, we need to minimize cynicism and hopelessness in our language and actions. Instead, at every opportunity, we must inspire, enable, and reinforce a sense of happiness and hopefulness to keep people engaged and maximize their potential as community partners. Our role as visionaries is to see the brightest future possible and help others see it too.

As we transition from the relaxing days of summer to the fuller days of fall, it behooves us to think about protecting our vibe.Â
Many people say that happiness is a choice. At first, given all of our social conditioning, this may seem like absurd advice. You may initially ask to yourself:Â if everyone could choose to be happy, then weâd all be happy, right?Â
The truth is choosing happiness is a skill that takes practice. Not to worry, weâre here to help!  Above are some questions you can ask yourself in real-time to evaluate whether your actions are turning you towards or taking you away from happier experiences. Below are some additional questions you can use in times of frustration or when you are struggling to maintain your positive vibe. As soon as you feel yourself become the slightest bit agitated take a moment to check in with yourself.Â
Overcoming FrustrationÂ
Frustration happens! Having a plan to manage it can help you recover from temporary setbacks more quickly.
Ask yourself:
Am I dealing with a current frustration, or am I letting a past frustration or potential future frustration rob me of the happiness I could be enjoying right now?
Are my thoughts about the frustration real or imagined? Am I creating and reacting to a story Iâve made up about the situations before I have all the facts?
Is the story I am creating part of a pattern of stories I tell myself as a defense or coping mechanism?
Is my frustration my own or am I trading in my happiness to take on someone elseâs frustration?Â
Do I want to allow this temporary frustration to ruin my moment, hour, afternoon, entire day?
Protecting Your Vibe
Being intentional about our thoughts and energy is key to vibe maintenance.
Ask yourself:Â
Are my thoughts, intentions, behaviors, and words pointing me towards a path of inner peace and happiness, or are they taking me down a road of unnecessary drama and suffering?
Did drama find me or did I unconsciously and unnecessarily invite it into my world?
Are my actions aligned with the "me" I aim to be(come) or the "me" I was previously conditioned to be?
Sometimes all it takes is a few questions to get us right back on track.
I'm rooting for you and your happiness!!!Â

Do you want to get the most out of your mornings?
Do you want to get the most out of your mornings?
Some people say that happiness is a journey, not a destination.  I believe that happiness is a practice and that if we are deliberate, focused, and routine in our happiness practice, we can build and strengthen the mindsets, habits, and behaviors that enable happy lifestyles.  If you have an interest in cultivating your own happiness practice, I encourage you to check out this list of 11 Incredible Habits of Buddhist Monks from DFORTUNER.COM. Â
Once youâre done, Iâd love to hear your thoughts on the list, particularly which habits you already practice and which habits you hope to pick up over the next few months. Â As for me, there are two habits on the list that I aim to work on for the remainder of the year. Â The first is to focus on one thing at a time, or perhaps more accurately, stop the learned behavior of multitasking. Â The second is to give it (whatever that it may be), my all. Â My intention is to practice both habits vigorously (a training of sorts) over the next 4-5 months until they each become reflexive.Â
Dope Vibe Tribe: Â What are some of your most healthy happiness habits?
Remember, VibeTribe, around here, we share because we care and we want to see everyone succeed. Â Share your thoughts and be an inspiration to someone who needs it.

Joy | Alysia Harris Obese as the night sky is⌠Its greed does not outweigh the first mouthful of dawn. Iâll tell you what joy is: It is the movement of 5,000 men dancing to the voice of 10,000 women Their feet wrestling with their knees to stay beneath them. A strong and common song Pouncing upon their chests. Joy, it never lingers long In the apex of another personâs laugh, But Iâve found it reflects perfectly From the level of my undecorated hips. Long it went unnoticed. A chimney sweep in a London street, Crying for 6 pence and parents I felt like I would suffocate Under the weight of all that darkness A gargoyle of disappointment, watchmen over my bed. I prayed that the beast would consume me Instead of prowling from one relationship to the next. I feared the croak of silence And felt this bar unraveling by the rhyme. But I promised my loneliness: One dayâŚone day, I will write myself a Glass Essay and then I will love like it cannot break. I prayed: âLord, give me good legs and an open road. Lord, give me a juggernaut heart and a Japanese car. Benevolent change.â And yesterday, Yesterday Under the honesty of 60-watt light bulbs and eye-worn passages ThereâŚthere was my story, Happy ending superimposed Looking final and unchallenged.â So joyâŚjoy is in the Song! Itâs in the beauty of the husband and the bible clenched in her white teeth I dare you to tell me that Iâm not mending because joy⌠Joy is back bending in what you think is submission, But is really mercy. It is the watershed that comes from a good deed rippling into great character. My mouth, it found my face again Found it can still spread. Not as easy as butter; not as fast as rumors. But it can still light up a room or two. Sometimes it means you have to be an archaeologist and an astronomer rolled into one. But this smile right here is a Genesis older than the doubt cubbyholed in the big bangâs center. So though, though I have been shaking in my boots and my beliefs I am proud of my ankles- They be no turncoats. Proud of my knees- the creaking martyrs to dancehall. Sometimes they had to break to keep me upright. Proud of my thighs- who unlike the Red Sea never parted for a man posing as God. So even though he left me, What is not sunny about today, Even the rainclouds can bless me. So what if he wonât appreciate me, The homeless man will hug me. And the street corner will open up to me And it will thank me for humming Aretha And listening to its creases. Joy is not being in love And not being bitter. It is friendship. It is agreement. Joy is the gift of childhood wrapped for the orphan. A Polaroid army crawling its way into life. Joy is being beautiful without a man telling you so. It is finding yourself warm enough for those lonely winter nights. It is finding yourselfWholeAfter so long. So, to shaved heads and unsaddled burdens,To the lionâs mane of insecurities,To my favorite broken heart and every lover Iâve ever had the pleasure of loving:I know it might sound forceful to youâŚBut I am laughing like Iâve conquered something.BecauseâŚ. I have.
