How do you feel about being Black and Filipino? Can you speak Tagalog? Do you feel connected to both sides? I'm planning to move to the Philippines and would like to marry a Filipina so my future kids would be Black and Filipino.
It just is. It's something that I understand, love and accept. The same way that I accept that I am a woman or an American, I also am of black and Filipino descent. In terms of family and I guess so culture, I do feel a distance to a certain to extent. My relationship with my family is very limited due to the distance and the other side of my family lives in Chicago and I don't see them much. It is up to you as a parent how much you want to expose family/culture to your children. My parents raised me around other families who had half black/Filipino children and I consider them my cousins/fam. I don't speak Tagalog, but it's not a language that's foreign to me and there are words/phrases that I do know. Hope that helps!
