You have reached the main blog of a twenty-something, avid enthusiast of biology, merriment, and several things fiction- Call me Scarlet! The homegrown flowers here bloom in many shades of passion, so feel free to take a stroll.
So yeah, this is mostwhat of a multi-fandom menagerie and dumping ground for the things which rattle around in my brain. It is mainly Queue-fed, and while my top interests are hella diverse and ever-fluctuating, this is the main group/area of media you can expect the most return engagement with from me in the foreseeable future:
• Dredge
• The Sly Cooper Game Series
• Rainworld
• Making Fiends
• Invader Zim
• Madcom
• The lesser discussed works of David Firth
• Underrated Indie game creators the likes of KHS, Edmund McMillen, Scriptwelder, etc.
Honestly if you’re hoping for something else on or off this list, don’t be too shy! Who knows, you just might unstick a creative block somewhere.
Cont. on for some lists ‘n links.
Tags Guide, Sorta:
+ Scarlet talks about things - I release my worms, i.e. the takes. Pretty much what it says on the tin, a catch all for personal text posts ranging from long winded essays about Blorbo from my shows, infodumping about science, to just sharing something ponging around in my head lately. Usually try to reserve this tag for mid to long form original content.
+ Scarlet rambles about things - same deal, less filter, much more stream of consciousness. Includes short takes. Think of it like a bonus reel.
+ My Memes - self explanatory, ya goof.
+ Masterlists - if you showed up here off of, say, one of my media takes and wanted to know if there’s a highlight reel of mine dedicated to that specific show or series. Right now I’ve only got a couple but would be happy to pile together something else on request if there’s enough material.
Other bits of note:
* Following my interest trends, a lot of psychological and physical horror adjacent stuff is to be in-and-out expected here. Mostly on the level of stuff that wouldn’t get a show kicked off of a tv slot, but with lenient outliers. I’m also a massive bug enthusiast and it will bleed into the overall vibe and in the occasional real life photos i want to share. I will do my best to tag any potentially triggering content, but discretion be advised for the particularly sensitive. Lovecraftian terror fuel makes me go gaga and we’ll probably get along if it does you as well.
* Suggestions and friendly pokes about my blog content in general are welcomed in anons/asks, but not in my dms, thanks!
* This is user is critically and staunchly 🌈🍖
^ Only bothering to get this litmus test out of the way because I have noticed that some of the fandoms I am interested in are magnets for spicy discourse, and media discussion in today’s climate is a hotbed for this bandaid to get ripped off sooner or later. If you are someone who’s knee-jerk response to that emoji pairing and statement without any further elaboration was one of vitriol, extreme discomfort, and/or aggression, this is not a DNI; however, it is a request for good faith and clarification in whatever engagement you may or may not voluntarily choose with my stuff. It is a stern reminder of the old saying about assumptions. Something-something, makes an ass out of u and me. The less asses in the world, the less shit there will be all around.
* Not only am I quite the fanatic for others’ kinetic aesthetic, I’m something of an animator myself, sometimes! You can check out my Flipnote Studio projects over on my YouTube channel or as well on my art side blog (under-maintained at the current moment but looking to improve on that).

A scene from Invader Zim I seem to find way creepier than anyone else does
It’s just weirdly good horror to me as a years later rewatch somehow. Dripping with menace.
Long time fans know this is one of the most theatric and chatty characters in the show, alone or not. He also more often than not gets over -ahem, denies- setback and mission fumbles in record time. Not here. Just the silence that lets you truly hear that eerie ass ambience in the background. Just watching him reviewing back collected surveillance, on presumably what’s supposed to be human child behavioral data (this was still season 1 after all), but he’s neither mocking the subjects nor boasting about himself for once. He’s not even complaining of getting into one of his spiels. It’s just that cut back to the reel of a dozen pains he’s suffered at the Skool, cut back to that stone still expression, cut back to the tapes. You don’t know if they’re all from a singularly horrible day or a pile of weeks of humiliations stacking on a camel’s back. You get nothing of explanation except for that quiet seething in his expression- The scariest kind of angry. It’s Zim, ruminating on a god’s honest murderous rage, toward this species that seems to only justify his contempt of them with every single interaction. Almost as if you can watch this and imagine his hatred just getting hotter and hotter for all mankind under the surface, and then narrowing in like a magnifying glass straight onto the worst and most frequent offender of all. Those four consecutive Dib clips are what finally seem to make him feel like he’s seen enough and he’s fully decided on beginning to craft what we later find out was the Moosey wormhole plan. If it was only about Dib standing in the way of the mission, like he frames it, this episode intro wouldn’t serve any purpose. It was about so much more than Dib probably ever thinks about, the axe forgets and all that.
To me this clip is like the one moment where I swear to Tallest Zim was feeling on a kind of Nny wavelength in that isolated instant,
AND it’s one of many moments where I shake my head remembering how Dib’s average Tuesday is spent more recklessly than poking a sleeping dragon in the eye with a stick.
No, but this scene IS terrifying, because it's Zim harboring resentment. Like I was just saying, Zim is vindictive, but rarely openly resentful—largely just because, well, a working memory that goes farther back than the last week is kind of an emotional prerequisite (which is a fun addition to these being recordings, because like—would he have even remembered all of these if not for being reminded while viewing his footage, or capable of recognizing the sheer number of instances without viewing them back-to-back?) but also because acknowledging any budding resentment he might have requires acknowledging the sheer breadth of how much he's failed (by his own standards). Which is never something he's inclined towards and downright Not An Option when it's in the context of his own people... and that just makes the human children even more of a perfect target for his wrath as horrible vermin who obviously cause nothing but suffering, which is an admission he can bear to make.
Point being that it's a REALLY GOOD THING Zim isn't more inclined towards this kind of anger, because honestly if the moose incident tells me anything it's that he very well might break the fabric of reality getting revenge if he was ever able to fully, simultaneously, consciously conceptualize even half of all the indignities he's suffered in his life. The delusions of grandeur are there for your protection, y'all
There's literally a subreddit called r/fuckwasps with over 26k members, and I want to move to Mars. Someone else on Reddit in the r/Waspaganda community worded it quite eloquently:
Some people would rather be on their high horse, act like an idiot, and be defensive than to rightfully step down and admit that they were wrong about a certain topic. The most obnoxiously opinionated people are also the most uneducated when it comes to wasps in general.
Oh hi me! Seeing your own Reddit comment in the wild on your Tumblr dash is definitely an experience!
If I could elaborate a bit on my two cents. It goes well beyond wasps, but they are one of the biggest victims of it I’ve noticed. I make it no secret that my day job is in pest control. In real life, I have to deal with a lot of hearing people brag about illegally killing snakes or nagging me about every spider or ant found still alive on their porch step. I think it gives me a very ugly and very close-up perspective of the worst that fear, ignorance, and even hatred of nature has to offer. Funny enough, it gives me a very close-up and fascinating perspective of the other side of that conflict. I’ve been up close to bald faced hornets, yellow jackets, paper wasps more times than I can count and given them extremely justified reasons to bring me hell for it. And yet the more I work around them, the more I kind of fall in love with them. I’ve been doing this for over four years, hell, I even collect wasps on the side for hobby entomology, and I legitimately have never taken a wasp sting in my entire life. Fireants on the other hand I get attacked by all the freaking time (and yet I’d still swing the bat for all local Hymenopterans)
I don’t love wasps because I mythologize them from a distance. I love them the more I actually understand and learn about them. And I used to be someone who screamed at ran at the sight of them because that was the trajectory from growing up in southern America taught me to follow. Bees good, wasp bad is something you have hammered into your programming probably from toddlerhood on. And I can promise from experience there is literally no way back out of that without curiosity and facing up to years’ worth of being proudly self-reinforcing of that truth the way people are about things as ground level as “apples are good for you”. Recent cultural spooks like the killer hornets headlines haven’t helped.
People who have been stung have an extra layer of anger and often legit trauma confounded that of all things, actually, reminds me strongly of the rhetoric I see in cat and dog hating spaces. “Cats/dogs are horrible they have hurt me and I’m RIGHT to hate them” isn’t a statement of empirical fact, but lived experience that you attack via perceived invalidation. That’s where and why the defensiveness and aggro.
All of this to say with way too many words that our ultimate struggle as wannabe entomological loraxes is the difficulty of trying to use logic to bring people out of a conclusion they never logic’d themselves into.
And I don’t hate them. I feel bad for the beauty they have closed themselves off from. I hope one day they can find it.

It was damn good. In hindsight I kind of regret not catching the theater release because I should’ve known it was artistically-visually going to be really, really freaking beautiful, and it was. Bittersweet, and a lot of what I suspected and predicted ended up coming to pass. What ambiguity is left at the end serves for hopeful outcomes and I appreciate that too.
I think I’m really happy and proud of everyone who made this show happen. I think it rounded out to a very solid piece that is going to outlive every crapstorm that surrounded its production and initial popularity spike. I think it was something a lot of people really needed to see in the big scary 2026. I thank every friend of mine who pulled me into it to begin with.
I don’t know if we deserved it, but I’m glad we got it.
I apologize to everyone who kept begging me to jump on this game bandwagon already and watched me drag my feet at getting around to it you were right and it’s super fun
If I were Dib honestly I wouldn’t be doing TikTok prank antics with Zim like throwing lunch meats and cheese slices at his head when he’s not looking I’d be pelting that bastard with commercial pesticides based off whatever hunch about his biology entered my mind. There’s so much room for REAL investigative science here, like learning what happens when Irken skin comes into contact with DDT or triadimefon.
Nothing to speak of the astronomical chemistry between my personal theory about Irkin tissues being chitin based and the funny idea of bringing a spray bottle of fungicide solution to a ray gun fight
