First time ever when he ate all the provided lunch and snacks at school. Even carrots 😮 Turning three isn’t terrible!!
"Mommy mommy come play with me in my house!" "Mommy has to do dishes" "Okay" Couple minutes later he brings his house to the sink. Maybe it's time for a sibling... Sigh....
Negative vs positive reinforcement
So.. My little man is almost 3 (in 3 weeks) and he's gotten so out of control. Here are some examples: -throwing anything he can grab including heavy objects -taking everything out of his drawers and closet -picky eating to the max -no. No to everything and everyone -starts fake crying at almost everything because well. He feels like it And the list goes on. I grew up with negative reinforcement all the time. Raised by Korean parents that's the method. It gave me "오기" that burning. Desire to prove them wrong. That I am NOT a bad girl that I'm a good girl. Worked like a charm and it still works even when I'm a 30 something adult. Now I'm reading all these articles claiming that's the wrong way to parent. Really??? Here a real life example of "positive reinforcement" that We experienced. This was after D's gymnastics class. One of his classmates had some goldfish in his snack holder. D went up to him and said "can I have some please" (used all the magic words) The kid starts being greedy and pushing D away, and D is confused. Then the other kid's mom : "it's okay z. You don't have to share if you don't want to. It's your snack and you don't have to share. Good job" What in the actual fck did you just say good job to a kid who didn't wanna share??? And this is exactly why I'm against "positive reinforcement" because it generates a group of kids who think they can do whatever they want without any guide or any kind of moral compass and also because ultimately THEY CANT DO ANYTHING because "it's okay good job" for everything In their lives because that's good parenting. And that's why these millennials, (my receptionists included who are 22-25 ish) don't even know how to troubleshoot a frozen computer. Or do taxes. Or have good interpersonal social skills. I see this all around me. And no way am I gonna raise one of those. I'm sorry it won't happen. I think a good balance of the positive and negative produces well rounded kids. Get scolded when you do something wrong and get rewarded for doing something right.
Keeping the tradition alive. 구정때는 무조건 튀긴음식 and 만두s
Finally got the pee stance down!!! (Now only if he can hold it during nap time and night time)... Poop is being worked on, but this has been tremendous progress over the course of 3 weeks!!!

He really is my best friend and I don't want him to grow up :(
Potty training noted
Leaving myself some notes if and when we have another kid(s) so I won’t be stressed out.
age:2.8 (3 in two months)
gender:boy
Time it took: 1 day
How long he’s been trained:1 week
Accidents so far: 1
Pee: yes
Poop: not yet
1. Don’t start too early. Remember we tried to start him when he was around 2.5 years old because all his other friends were starting, but that was because their moms were expecting 2nd, 3rd child. BIG MISTAKE. He just didn’t get it. 2. Other kids are good stimulants. His early education school had kids in his grade already potty trained and that was a big boost. 3. When in doubt ask professionals, i.e. His school teachers. Because, they know better and this is our first time. 4. Patience patience patience. The longest D took on the potty before he let out a tinkle was fckn 3 hours. Yeah, he sat on the potty for fckn 3 hours. And he wouldn’t let me do other stuff around the house. 5. Encourage and be consistent. Like overdo the “good job” “way to go” “awesome” “wow you’re such a big boy” boys love that and so do grown ass men. 6. Try different combos that work. We tried pull ups on it own. Nope. We tried training pants with liners. Nope. We tried just undies. Nope. We tried pull-ups and undies over. YES!!! For some reason this was the exact combo that made Derrick feel like he can go potty. 7. Relax mama. I was always nervous and anxious, asking the poor kid “do you need to go potty” every 30 minutes. But once I chilled out D just let me know “mommy pee pee is coming” 8. Remember little boys can have boners too. And when they do the pee does NOT go into the potty, but everywhere.yes even on your face. Learned that the hard way and had to teach him to hold his penis down, and to shake at the end. 9.Still working on the poop. Will update later. He will say “I need to poop” but once I say okay let’s go sit on the potty! He’ll start freaking out.
