In polyamory you don't leave someone to be with someone else. You USUALLY leave someone bc theres a difference in desire or expectation you or the other person arent getting/cant deliver on.
Communication is so fucking easy to get wrong and getting annoyed by someone frequently touching on expectations of situations, or checking in on feelings doesn't help the situation at aaallll
I bitch about polyamory practices I dont personally fuck with, but I wouldnt put that on folks who participate on those things and they are comfortable with them. Ie: I hate forced kitchen table or the common non-monog dont ask dont tell.
The biggest issue with polyamory n non-monogamy as a whole i have are people's partners being jealous over someone new coming into their spaces. Its my biggest beef because most of the time the jealous partners have way too many unchecked issues that they suddenly make their partner's problem rather than learning how to sit with and address them personally.
The other big issue i have is people getting into relationships because they think the person is cute and have casual feelings about a person rather than knowing they have real romantic feelings for them.
Like so many people get into these relationships casually and end up breaking someone's heart bc that person had real romantic intentions instead of casual flirty dates. Interest is cool, but stop it. Dont rush that shit. maybe talk about expectations

Polyamory is crazy because outside of organizing or rad queer spaces its so misrepresented and hated on.
Ive been practicing since I was 17 (in 2008 btw) and I can guarantee with all the ended relationships id had (both were non-monogamous and monogamous) that the mistakes and endings are more alike than people think, but the access to information you get about yourself about the kinds of things you want, how it changes over time, and what you NEED in other people are so much more apparent when you form a bunch of different kinds of intimate relationships that intersect and start and end and fizzle out and turn evolve into other things......
Idk I dont regret ANY relationship ive had. Platonic, sexual, romantic or otherwise. I do regret not ENDING some sooner but thats only with hindsight.
I wouldnt know myself and what I want and how to compartmentalize emotions vs perspective vs intent if it werent for always loving and trying to understand so many people.
