And now he's laughing. Who did this man think he was? The grit and gravel could practically be tasted with his tongue as he grit his teeth with disdain. Still mildly ionized from the static reaction to the electronic device, Kashimo steadies himself before sitting up on his knees.
" You think I'm not capable of snatching a satchel of rice off of a stranger? " Insult to injury. Clearly, the sorcerer was dealing with a self-proclaimed comedian.
Blue strands of hair hang in his face, and Kashimo gets up onto his feet. He snatches the phone away from the man with a defiant huff.
" Fine. Tell me how to get the money off of it so that I don't have to use this accursed magic object. OR, you can point me towards a sorcerer capable of lifting the curse off of it so that my money is retrieved, because there is no possible way that coins and paper are inside of this. "
He waggles the phone with frustration to make his point.
" See????? Nothing falls out. "
Okay, point taken. Stealing probably wasn't that hard. This guy probably could probably just fend for himself, steal rice, and cook it in his yard if, as Raiden suspected, he didn't know how to use a stove, either. He didn't particularly seem like he was curious enough to learn.
Although... it did seem like he was at least trying to figure out the phone when he'd first seen him. Maybe that was enough to work with. Raiden drags a hand over his face as he mulls over how exactly to explain this.
"So... money is fake, you know."
Please let him guy understand that much.
"It's just a number of some arbitrary object, like coins or bills or whatever people agree has value. So now, in a lot of places, we just get rid of the objects. When I buy something from someone, we just agree that I have one less 'dust' and they have one more 'dust'. That's the only way anyone pays anyone here, no cash."
He points at the phone in the other man's hand. "That's a communication device. It's how you keep track of that money and exchange it with other people."
guy who's having gauzy idealized wife flashbacks for the whole adventure but it turns out she isn't dead or anything he just really misses her and wants to get home

" It is difficult to adjust", Masa admits, understanding struggle, regardless of their presumed differences, " it must be for most but... "
" Collective hallucination? " he then repeats in quizzical tone.
As the man introduces himself Masa stares at him for a while in surprise. He hadn't expected Japanese name that was for sure. Certainly it could well be a name from another world and be a coincidence. He wants to make sure of it at least:
" As in... the god of thunder? "
"I couldn't think of a better word for it-- that thing where half of the city lost a few weeks of time and vaguely remembers being in school together."
The pause makes him feel like he's committing some kind of social blunder. The question Masanosuke asks doesn't really dispel that feeling. Raiden puts a hand up in denial. "Oh-- no. As in, just thunder."
Could he even explain where the name came from? He's getting the feeling that this man might not be familiar with airplanes.
"So, uh... what time are you from, exactly?" If he had read this wrong, he's going to look pretty dumb, but he might as well give it a shot.
Not as cool as the first portrait but I think I’m starting to get into the swing of this style

Octavo grimaces as the flower twitches around. "Please try not to do that. I apologize. I'm sure you can't help it."
He busies himself browsing the shelf so he can look at anything else. "Well! I can only hypothesize, but it seems like the worse you want to keep your secrets in, the worse the infestation is. How that metric is measured, I couldn't tell you. I didn't want to go telling everyone I met that I'm an instrument that wished it could be a man, but I didn't try and resist either, and that seems to have spared me the worst of it."
Raiden turns his head away, leaving his face in profile with his good eye facing Octavo. For about thirty seconds. Before he even finishes his explanation, Raiden snaps his eyes right back onto the man with a look of confusion.
"Wait--" He pauses, trying to swallow his surprise at this new information. Octavo certainly had gotten enough people commenting on this if he had told it to everyone. "Okay."
The hypothesis makes Raiden grimace. "I hope this doesn't keep going for much longer. If telling every person I meet my whole backstory is what keeps more of these from growing, I'm probably gonna go blind. How much do you think you have to tell someone?"
