âNow who is that under those big button eyes?â he asks as he approaches. The costume is so well done that the face it belongs to is undetachable under that makeup job! He marvels openly at the artistry even as he dips in greeting. âYou definitely get my vote for scariest costume if thatâs a category.â
Rinaâs eyes follow various dancers, taking in the beauty and creativity of the fellow attendees in their costumes. Here, the whispers of spirits are drowned out by music and laughter. As accustomed as sheâs grown to working with the dead, itâs nice to have them be quieted every now and then. Sheâs sipping her punch (which is delicious, holy shit!) and minding her own business when she feels it. A soft and warm brush of air like the caress of a summer breeze. Rina suddenly finds it tough to swallow her punch, so much does her body respond to this sudden sensation.
Her eyes search around for the sourceâ. It may seem impossible to see through the button eyes, but carefully hidden peep holes and black eye contacts help the illusion. Those cold buttons land on a familiar face approaching, and Rina feels that strange urge to hide behind her glass. Why? Sheâs not normally the timid type. Itâs just Apollo! Warm, kind, handsome, very handsome Apollo...stop! Rina almost shakes her head before she realizes that heâs waiting for an answer with the smile thatâs echoed in her head for a bit too long since their last meeting.
âUmâŚâ yes, very suave. âThanks. Itâs Rina.â She returns his little bow. Apollo looks positively radiant, as if having recently stepped out of a painting. Rina looks into his eyes and sees no ill intent - just like any time sheâs seen him. He is gentle and his words hold truth, and yet Rina is terrified. Terrified of her own truths, and what she feels when he aims his sunlight smile her way. âOh, you donât have toâŚâ but itâs super nice to have her costume acknowledged. If only she could quit staring like a startled deer and be her normal chill self! At the moment, she feels as if she can barely get a sentence out. âHaving funâŚ?â
