he can feel emma’s tension and her worry. if this doesn’t work then julian will be burned, and badly too. the sensation of the rune being applied does feel like magic, it’s somehow wrong and the most right thing he’s ever felt. it happens slowly, julian’s hands heat but he’s not burned. and then flames lick his hands, before long he’s pulling emma away, “let’s get out of here, i can’t believe that worked.” julian’s voice is slightly haunted by the fact that it actually lit the brick church on fire. that wasn’t supposed to happen. but emma’s love is as real as ever and he can feel it beating inside him, a living, breathing beast. he begins jogging away but not before slipping his hand into emma’s. they are two hearts beating as one, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU LOVE ME. well, that wasn’t gonna be too hard to do. he took up ninety-nine percent of her mind. he was in all her dreams. love was all-consuming, and emma could attest to that without a doubt. her wrist twitches from how tightly she's gripping her stele, so she takes a moment to steady herself before she places it to his skin. it's almost like magic. she's marking him, but she feels stronger, too. she finishes the rune and tucks her stele into the pocket of her jeans, hands shoving into the pockets of her jacket. ❝ alright. try that. ❞

she's always been a bit of a flight risk. when things got too tough, she bolted. fight with her parents? you could find her crashing on a friend's couch until things calmed down.
she's been taking ballet since she was four, when her parents decided that she needed to do something to expend her energy, aside from bouncing all around the castle and tearing things up. she had wanted to give it up when she was in middle school, but stuck with it, and now she's an accomplished dancer, with awards and medals lining the walls of her bedroom.
she's majoring in dance at university, while teaching ballet to little kids at a studio in charmington on the weekends. she likes that she can inspire new little ballerinas and see them come into their own as dancers. if life as a professional dancer doesn't work out, she'd be perfectly content to teach for the rest of her life.
though she thinks it practical to have a career to fall back on, she knows that she's likely never going to have to work, and could just as easily be a professional princess for the rest of her life. maybe that would be easier, but it didn't give her the same satisfaction that chasing her dreams did.
