People think hard work tastes like success. It doesn’t. It taste like too much coffee. Like not enough sleep. Like there are a million things you’d rather be doing. It tastes like sacrifice. Like hanging on the edge. Like discouragement. Like loneliness. Like shaking faith. It tastes like 4am. Like all guts, no glory. It tastes like inadequacy. Like uncertainty. It tastes like responsible choices. And the aftertaste doesn’t always taste like success. But if you can swallow it and keep moving forward, it tastes like fulfillment. Like purpose. Like worthiness because you plan to put good into the world. Eventually, it starts to taste pretty damn good. And if you do get to taste success, you’ll know it was all you, your choices and your effort. So to put it simply, hard work doesn’t taste like success. But success tastes like hard work.
