My first ever bat study skin is done. The skull took 4 weeks of cold maceration to carefully clean.
Prince Baskettail (Epitheca princeps) with eggs at the tip of her abdomen.
At home, I've finally gotten into the right brain space to return to working on my personal research insect collection. Gonna be working on my dragonflies and large butterflies first as they are taking up my freezer space.
Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta)
Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele)
Halloween Pennant (Celithemis eponina)
Monarch (Danaus plexippus)
A Question Mark (Polygonia interrogationis) and Common Green June Beetle (Cotinis nitida) sharing at a Cup Plant (Silphium perfoliatum)

Putnam's Jumping Spider (Phidippus putnami) exploring my car windshield in my parking lot.
Leafhoppers are thankfully so polite and sit still for photos.
2 morphs, Meadow Spittlebug (Philaenus spumarius)
Four-spotted Clover Leafhopper (Agallia quadripunctata)
Initial photos before I begin work on my first ever bat study skin. Sculpting the fake body will be challenging since their body dimensions are so odd compared to the many birds I've done. I hope I can do this bat justice.
Western Dusky Slug (Arion subfuscus)
Plains Garter Snake (Thamnophis radix)
Taking macrophotography of a snake is so difficult when they keep wiggling and musking all over you.

Brood XIII: Pharaoh Cicada (Magicicada septendecim)
The highlight of my year, seeing the goth cicadas for the first time :)
A collection of little guys I found last week. The ants farming aphids was fun to watch.
Bold Jumper (Phidippus audax) doing what they do best
Started working on an American Robin. These guys pretty rarely have window collisions compared to the vast majority of their thrush relatives.
The frosty white on their orange chest feathers as well as the whisker-like feathers around their beaks are my favorite aspects about the species.
Every so often I find deceased worker bees on plants but this is the first time I've seen one dangling dead mid-sip.
Ok wow I completed missed this. There is actually an ambush bug (Phymata pennsylvanica?) in the photo holding and predating on this bee??? Mega thanks @celestialmacros for pointing it out.

Lab supervisor articulated this Belted Kingfisher skeleton! Hopefully I will learn how to do a full skeleton soon.
