his jaw clenched, eyes hardening as he looked at the papers before him. he didn’t need a break, what he needed was to finish his investigation. the sooner they located where the confounded cult was the sooner he could break off and they both could rest.

ah boy i hope this wasn’t sent too long ago. .. . . ..

i came back to this like e -e? cuz i didn’t have an oc rule but i realize thAT’S what you’re asking about lol

i’m okay with ocs, and would be happy to hear/write with people about them (and doubly so if you wanna hear about/write with mine too <3). i’ll warn you now that i’m not overly active on tumblr ever (unless nix drags me on) but i do always get back to this blog at some point lol

he glances at yoko quietly, then looks back to what he was doing at his desk, pen scribbling notes in the margin of his paper. “of course i am. what makes you think otherwise?

other than the bloodshot eyes, bags underneath them, and the sunken in face, he means.

alucard looked up from the papers in his hand and raised an eyebrow, confused at the sudden declaration. “wha– SOMA, NO.” but it was too late. he was too close. alucard looked quickly between his almost empty hand full of papers and the other holding a full cup of coffee. 

there’s a loud clatter and smash noise as the cup is released and hot coffee sprays across the floor as alucard catches soma he hurtles toward him.

Well… that was surprisingly easy. Soma hadn’t exactly planned on Arikado just out and admitting it. He rubbed at his cheek a little and averted his eyes for only a second. Did he … feel threatened by him now that he knew? No, not really. Arikado had been there for Soma enough that he didn’t think he was going to hurt anyone.

“That’s why Mina said you hadn’t aged in the ten years she’d known you… isn’t it?”

Then, before Arikado could answer, because he hadn’t been expecting an answer…

“…Can I ask how old you are? Or is that rude?”

arikado nodded, a hand moving from where it was secured across his chest to rub his eyes. he wondered for a moment if mina knew, if soma had told her. he trusted him enough to feel confident that he wouldn’t be going around spouting off that arikado was a vampire of some kind, but then again. they were best friends.

a sigh of a chuckle left his lips and he raised an eyebrow, a hint of smile playing on his features. “is it rude? i suppose it is for some, but no. i... am old. i don’t know how old, but... old. a few centuries.”

he’d already reached up and batted the hands of the belmont’s at least three times. at this point, he accepted his fate. with a heavy sigh, alucard slumped, relaxing. “if you’d been there to do something i wouldn’t have been thrown about as much,” he complained lightheartedly, glancing back to look at julius.

eyes turned back forward and he picked up a strand of his mussed blond hair. “… well. i suppose i could stand to get some help with this…”

Soma took a deep breath, as if he were about to unveil some great secret. And perhaps he was, for all Arikado knew. Soma took a deep breath and looked him dead in the eye. He started to walk up to him.

“Just so you know, I’m not afraid… I know that you’ve been hiding stuff from me and I get why.”

“You’re…some kind of vampire, aren’t you?”

eyes didn’t waver from the other’s gaze, arikado knowing that this situation deserved all the respect and attention he could give. arms crossed firmly over his chest as soma approached, as if preparing to fight or flee should he need.

the preface told him what he needed, told him that soma knew. there was almost no need for the question. a long silence followed that was heavy with a strange mix of anxiety and concern.

rarely does alucard allow himself times of weakness around others, a strange paranoia that came with his age. mix that with an outdated sense of pride and dignity and you get a very alert man. however there were always going to be situations that were out of one’s control.

... like the fact that he hadn’t slept in close to three days now. it’d been nonstop unavoidable circumstances one after the other... first a shift that went far too long, then an irritating bout of insomnia kept him finishing up paperwork he’d been putting off. work the next day had come too soon, and again, he stayed late. 

when he sat on the couch in soma’s apartment for a quick check in, he hadn’t meant to close his eyes. but he had, and sleep overtook him quickly. 

he wasn’t sure how long he’d been out, because it hadn’t felt like he’d been asleep at all, but he woke with a start when he felt tugging at his hair. eyes shot open and turned to the side to discover the culprit, a hand having reached up impossibly fast to catch the wrist of...

soma.

“what are you...” alucard blinked as his brows furrowed, releasing his hand. he sighed and covered his face. “i’m more exhausted than i’d thought...”

“Hey… Arikado? I think it’s time that we had a talk. I’ve finally figured everything out… about you.”

jaw clenches in response, gold eyes turning to steel as the gravity of the statement settled in. he takes a few measured breaths through his nose before nodding slowly. “... then by all means. tell me.”
