[ anya sighed, her one measely bag in hand. when you're born into a cult, you don't exactly acquire many worldly belongings. the same couldn't be said about her former associates, of course, but she'd never bothered with it. breaking her lease was... obnoxious, but she'd silently thanked whatever higher being there was that she'd never have to deal with her sleazy landlord anymore. she hesitated outside the door for a moment before taking a deep breath and nodding lightly. this wasn't the first time she'd stood outside of this door like a wet dog, she just... never would've admitted to being that way the last time. ]
[Mort perked up from his place at the dinner table, pushing himself to his feet in a little bit of a scramble. He checked the peep hole, and pulled the door open.]

maybe i should've waited. you're obviously stressed out right now.
[He took a step outside, throwing his arms around her tightly.]

[ she flinched a little at the contact, hesitating for a moment before lightly patting his arm with her own hand. ]

[ she squared her shoulders a little, nodding as she made her way into the apartment. she white-knuckled the straps of her bag a little, taking in the... strangely domestic look of the apartment. ]

After I left closeknit, I was faced with a difficult choice. A few of them, in fact. I took in a young harpy. She was a product of closeknits.. hatred. It was heartbreaking. I tried to take her to the department, but- she wouldnāt have it. I tried to care for her myself. Though I did a pretty lousy job.
Nadine and Kam. Me and them are close now. Theyāre good people. They visit sometimes, for movie nights. And I see them a lot at work.
After I had started keeping tabs on closeknit again, I got in touch with Vernon. Lazarus dying had adverse effects on him. It seemed Lazarus had him convinced of something that wasnāt meant to be. As he did me.
I tried my best to help. It seemed to work. Now weāre.. pretty close, Iād say. Heās rough around the edges. Sort of a prick sometimes. But heās good company for a man like me.
Just recently, with everything going on I decided to give the harpy to a.. friend. I figured sheād be happier there. And safer.
I think.. that about covers it.

i knew about it-... kam, nadine, and vernon. leonardo was convinced you were trying to form a resistance. it seems he wasn't that far off.

lazarus is... a problem for another day. last i heard from closeknit, leo's death was being investigated. as much as i know you disapprove of their methods, as soon as they realize a feede- ahem. a demon is involved, it won't go unhandled.

after leonardo broke me out, i think i just became more apathetic to things.
i think i was supposed to be sad when i heard what happened to him, but... i just felt the same. i mean, obviously it put a sour spin on going to work, and staying in the apartment. it's weird to go from seeing someone everyday to not seeing them at all, but i don't know if i was really sad about it.

I think Nadine was upset, too. Leo tried to kill us. Time and time again. But we still sort of felt for him. A little.
[He stepped forward, inspecting her face.]

[ she looked up at him, her eyebrows knitting together a little. ]
i don't think i'd be here if that wasn't the implication.
[He smiles, cocking his head to the side.]

Vernonās.. in bed right now, I think. I doubt heāll be any trouble while you get acquainted with the apartment.
[ she nodded, thinking for a moment and chewing on her nails. ]

leonardo had us keeping tabs on you guys, so... i kind of know what's going on. but... i can't be sure.

Okay. That.. makes sense.
After I left closeknit, I was faced with a difficult choice. A few of them, in fact. I took in a young harpy. She was a product of closeknits.. hatred. It was heartbreaking. I tried to take her to the department, but- she wouldnāt have it. I tried to care for her myself. Though I did a pretty lousy job.
Nadine and Kam. Me and them are close now. Theyāre good people. They visit sometimes, for movie nights. And I see them a lot at work.
After I had started keeping tabs on closeknit again, I got in touch with Vernon. Lazarus dying had adverse effects on him. It seemed Lazarus had him convinced of something that wasnāt meant to be. As he did me.
I tried my best to help. It seemed to work. Now weāre.. pretty close, Iād say. Heās rough around the edges. Sort of a prick sometimes. But heās good company for a man like me.
Just recently, with everything going on I decided to give the harpy to a.. friend. I figured sheād be happier there. And safer.
I think.. that about covers it.

i knew about it-... kam, nadine, and vernon. leonardo was convinced you were trying to form a resistance. it seems he wasn't that far off.
and... i met your harpy last night. she seems pretty convinced that she's coming back. but she's also upset. i'm not sure why you let her live with that belief for so long, but perhaps you should clear that up.
as for lazarus... i didn't know he was still around. it's interesting that that didn't come up from my sources. i guess maybe i didn't know everything like i thought.
I understand her frustration. I wasnāt a good caretaker, and leaving her wasnāt.. good. But I canāt care for her.
Since willow- Iāve been terrified to have children. I feel Iām incapable of it. And sheās not safe with me. Ever.
As for Lazarus? Heās the one who did Leo in. Iām not exactly sure how heās back, but it spells bad news for everyone.
you know i support your decisions--for the most part--i don't even know that i'd be willing to stay here with a child anyway. you know i feel about children. but at the very least, you should make your intentions clear so you're not tied to this responsibility for the rest of your life.
lazarus is... a problem for another day. last i heard from closeknit, leo's death was being investigated. as much as i know you disapprove of their methods, as soon as they realize a feede- ahem. a demon is involved, it won't go unhandled.
Okay. That.. makes me feel a little better.
I have do advise you though. I know itās difficult to break the cycle of hate closeknit put us through. But please watch your vocabulary when others are around. I.. want them to see you change. I donāt want this to cause any conflict.
