“Ah, that’s good enough of a reason. So, no to ‘Rosie’, ring around the rosy, and yes to ‘Rose’, yeah? Though, you know, ‘Rosie’ sounds more like a term of endearment than ‘Rose’ does.” 

“Good, thank you for understanding. And it may sound like it, but trust me - it is not. It’s belittling, and I just do not like it, and ultimately prefer if everybody ever refrains from calling me that.”

“Acquaintances works, too. Was just trying to be friendly, sorry.” 

“And if it’s an issue for you, it really shouldn’t be… I’m pretty sure you’re one of the few people here who can actually sing without making me want to gauge my eyes out.”

“Well, um - thank you? I'm sure the others aren't that bad though. You’re not so bad yourself.” 

“I’m about sixty percent sure that what you’re doing will end in injury. Just saying,” Jefferson sighed under his breath.

“Well,” Mathilda sighed, sending Jefferson a large grin from her position standing precariously on a rather unstable branch, “it’s the only way to get these apples. Do you happen to have a better idea?” 

                      ❛ Personally, I think Rosie’s cute. But maybe your issue stems out                                 of it being cute. Either way, I suppose I’ll avoid calling you that, if                                 only to keep my head on my shoulders. ❜

“That’s partially it. Good idea, if you completely abstain from it - we could maybe even be friends.” 

                       ❛ I don’t exactly see what your issue with people calling                                  you Rosie is. After all, they could be calling you things                                  that are a lot worse. ❜

“It’s mostly a thing of personal preference. I don’t like it - end of story. And, I’m well aware of that, but as far as I know, people aren’t calling me worse, so for now I’m dealing with this.” 

“What’s wrong with Rosie? It’s a pretty cute name.” 

“It’s not cute - it’s belittling and terrible, and I loathe it.Rose is better - and it has less syllables. They add an extra syllable for no good reason!” 

“Well, it was that or a crossbow aimed at somebody’s body. I was trying to be nice and reasonable about it, and not hurt anyone.”

“Okay, wait. Aren’t we all technically related? Obviously I have my cabin siblings. But isn’t Zeus like everyone’s father, so technically–we’re all cousins? Anyway... I don’t really know how this tree works, but the point is: I’m pretty sure I’m the hot one of the family.”

“Yeah, I guess so...Rightio, okay. I’m glad to know that self-esteem isn’t an issue for you, then.” 

“Uh, I think the arena’s fine as it is but if you were to try just keep them out of the middle.”

“Yeah, of course. Wouldn’t want anybody to trip or hurt themselves - there’s enough of that already...”

“I’m sure, but I’ll keep it in my mind.”

“Okay, cool, cool. I was also thinking of making a vegetable patch, I even asked Mr. D...except e  only wanted it to have grapes...Oh well...You don't think that the arena could do with some flowers or something?”

“Nah, I’m good it’s alright.”

“Are you sure? Well, if you change your mind I’ll be in Demeter’s Cabin, number 4 - it’s the one covered with flowers, as you can guess.”

“Uh-Sure, to each their won.”

“Would you like to help? I’m thinking maybe some violets, or maybe some daisies?” 

“Yeah in the middle of camp nowhere near any of the gardens is a bad place.”

“Well, I was thinking of maybe starting a garden here. Flowers make everything better.”
