the clinic lights buzzed softly overhead, casting a familiar dull glow across scattered reports and half-empty coffee cups. shoko leans back in her chair, one leg crossed over the other, a cigarette balanced lazily between her fingers. she doesn’t look up even the door creaks open— she already knows who it is.
“took you long enough,” she mutters, flipping a page in the report like she actually cares about it. “i was starting to think you finally picked a fight you couldn’t win.”
only then does she glance over, eyes half lidded, unimpressed as ever. there’s a flicker of something softer underneath.
“you look like hell.…”
smoke leaves her lips and curls as she speaks.
“….settle down, satoru.”
Satoru sighed, and the moment the door closed behind him an invisible weight seemed to ease off his shoulders, even if only slightly. If there was anyone he didn't need to keep appearances with, it was undoubtedly Shoko. She'd seen his worst and his best, known him before he was The Honoured One, and she'd always see straight through his bullshit.
"We both know there's no such thing as I fight I can't win." He lightly joked just to lighten the mood slightly, but his voice came out flatter than intended.
He shuffled deeper into the room and dropped into a chair opposite her, sighing as he leaned into it, letting overtired eyes fall closed, blindfold tugged down to sit around his neck.
“you say that until someone’s foot is up your ass.”
she tapped the ash onto an overfilled tray. that just shows how much time she spends in her office. cigarette butts lay scattered around the tray, all shrunk down to the last puff.
the report she previously flipped through seems much less important now after she examines satoru’s state. some idiot sorcerers actions always paled in comparison to her idiot sorcerer’s (gojo) daily activities. luckily, with her quick thinking doctor skills, she knew exactly what he needed.
“you seriously need to give yourself a rest,” her tone was as steady as ever yet she never let her actual concern show. “here.”
the sound of her chair squeaking echoed for a second, papers now forgotten on her desk, she stood in front of satoru. shoko held her hands out, almost presenting them to him.
“turn off your reverse cursed technique. let me take over.”
Satoru's startling blue eyes watched every movement that Shoko made, if only subtly. Tracking moves, cataloguing habits, still not truly settled because he never was. He couldn't be.
Then she stood, and his back straightened, prepared for her approach. When he hands extended, he regarded them wearily, glossed lips pressing together just slightly, the sort of subtle tell only someone who knew him as well as her would notice.
"You know I'd need to turn off limitless as well." He murmured, but she knew that. The silent request that had underlined her offer had been to remove that barrier between them too. To let her in.
An eternity seemed to pass in a single second in his mind, and then he nodded minutely, taking her hands gently, his own far softer than hers thanks to that invisible barrier he maintained between himself and.. everything. He stopped using his RCT, limitless no longer separating them.
Just Shoko and Satoru.
shoko stood in between satoru’s legs. the warmth of his palms, fingers, spread into her usual cold ones. working in the morgue had gotten her body used to the lower temperatures, the disinfectant and chemicals used for bodies making her skin tougher than his.
the struggle to get him to let down his barrier was ever present, yet once it yielded she was there. ready to help, to heal and to relieve him of his burden even if it meant temporarily.
a small squeeze to his hands served as shoko trying to ground him. to let him know that it was just her. the same shoko who had been there when his family constantly reminded him of duties. to be the honored one twenty-four seven, seven days a week. the same shoko who laid with him night after night after suguru left. as much as it hurt her too, she knew he blamed himself the most. the expectations of having to be everyone’s savior burned in his mind.
the shift in energy began when her hands raised, slowly and precise. the warmth in the center of her palm increased as they now rested on satoru’s cheeks, holding his face as his hands rested over hers. energy increased as her RCT activated and flowed into him. it started reversing the strain limitless had placed in his brain, the ache behind his eyes. she spoke, voice lower and softer than the usual snarky-ness.
“you’re doing so well, satoru.”
It shouldn't have cracked him open like it did.
When was the last time someone had told him that?
His eyes fluttered closed, snowy lashes resting against pale cheeks as he just let her work. It felt different when someone else used RCT on him compared to himself, it was different, and he could distinctly identify Shoko's. It was comforting.
His fingers twitched slightly where they held her hands against his face, then committed to tightening just slightly. A silent 'I'm okay'.
"Thanks Shoko." He said, but it was barely even a whisper, the words lodged in his throat even after all this time.
the ache she felt in her chest intensified with his whisper. the cold facade she carried always wavered when they were alone. whether it be the times where he got carried away with his stupidities and she had to punch some sense into him— or times like these where he experienced the responsibilities that came with being the strongest.
though in her eyes he was that same kid who she used to hang out with. the same one who blasted half the court yard when sparring with suguru. she missed the days where she’d hear his genuine laugh filled with fun and not the one he used to hide the burden he was cursed with.
her head bowed in remembrance, forehead almost meeting his. it wasn’t a sad memory. nostalgia just seemed to hit harder when it got quiet.
“remember when me and suguru used to sneak in bottles and drink them in your dorm? you’d get so mad when i’d try to drunkenly make out with your digimon body pillow.”

“you’re doing so well, satoru.”
About you versus Haruta.
No doubt you know where to aim as a Doctor. Probably the best one there is.
But as I wrote earlier. Your hands would be occupied with his sword.
So, how would you take him down?
“these questions are quite….peculiar.
any specific reason why you’d like to know? i’m quite curious to find out….
if my hands are being occupied with holding back the one thing capable of stabbing me at that moment—
maybe i’ll let you know if you answer my question first.”
" After stabbing and killing so many in suits. I got a bit bored and decided that my next target would be someone in white coat. "
“so you got bored picking off defenseless people and decided to aim higher? you’ve got the wrong idea if you think a white coat means easy prey.”
About you versus Haruta.

If you would get attacked by Haruta.
Without weapons or any help. Your hands would be occupied with holding his sword as he tries to cut you.
How would you take him down?
“interesting question…
well, i’m a doctor not a fighter— but if it came to it, it’d have to be precise. a good jab in the throat to disrupt his breathing and balance. fortunately, i can afford minor cuts and injuries due to my reverse cursed technique. ultimately my goal would be to disarm him and hit a vital pressure point. preferably the one on the side of his neck to make him blackout.”

Shoko who’s seen your boyfriends come in and out of those doors, who sees the way the light in your eyes fades after they break your heart, who wishes you could see that maybe the one you need is right…there. Shoko who takes you out to dinner after yet another break-up: dinner and then a drive around with the windows down, then stopping at a viewpoint. If this was anyone else, this would be considered romantic. But it isn’t, right? Shoko who inevitably leans in…and to her surprise, you’re closing the gap—“I’m afraid I’m gonna ruin our friendship, dove.”
the clinic lights buzzed softly overhead, casting a familiar dull glow across scattered reports and half-empty coffee cups. shoko leans back in her chair, one leg crossed over the other, a cigarette balanced lazily between her fingers. she doesn’t look up even the door creaks open— she already knows who it is.

I haven't posted this one yet.... Anyway: Thank you for 2000 people enjoying my SatoSho brainrot! You guys rock!
“you shouldn't be here,” she whined into his mouth.
he still gripped her hands, pulled them to his chest. so that she could feel the heart that beat for her.
“cause I'm too young for you?” he breathed, parting.
her lips were swollen. kiss-bitten. back to her marble counter and knees wedged open by the boy-turned-man.
twenty three years old, and yet he was still so sweet.
“because you were my student—” lisse croaked. “yuta.”
“and?” he hummed, bony fingers curling around her waist. he was taller now. older. able to finally have her.
“just,” craning over her, he whispered, feverish. “let me be your curse.”
he begged. threatened.
lips ghosting hers. teeth daring her.
his eyes lidded. breath ragged.
“let me haunt you.”
♡. liyuta hold a special place in my heart <3 age difference is 34/23 !
“the pretty boy’s back in town….and he’s already fighting with his brother??”
What can I say? I make my moves fast and loud
“the last thing i need is two idiots showing up to the morgue with their knees scraped and eyes bruised up. though ‘toshi has me wondering what blackmail he’s holding against you…. are we talking otaku satoru era? because, yikes….”
"I do not need to be attacked from both sides this is cruel and unusual. We'll stay out of your way, probably.."
“sending me away already? i’m sure i have a picture of you drooling on your digimon body pillow somewhere in my phone. it’d be a shame if it landed in the hands of your dear brother….”
