He stands there for a moment, frozen in place. Contemplating every word, running it over in his head. It's vague enough that there's space for assumptions, but he doesn't like those.

"Vengeance." The Batman had heard the curly-haired male snooping about, but hadn't perceived him as a threat ... yet. He wasn't sure if he'd been following him or seeing him from the corner of his eye had become just a mere coincidence, but he didn't rightly believe in those. He slowly turned, facing the other.

Bruce visibly cringes at the words. He doesn't mean to be so defensive and yet, without the mask, he feels barren -- too visible to the human eye. He pulls on his shirt despite the pleas to not hide because he's not sure what else to do.

"You shouldn't." He shakes his head, never looking at the other, "Battle scars aren't meant to be pretty or loved. They're ... supposed to be remembered only by the wearer as a lesson."
