He wanted to look his best for Arthur. 

Beautiful lithe Arthur, who was sunning himself on the patio as Eames ducked through the hedge. He stopped at the edge and gave himself a shake to make the bell ring out. 

He saw one of Arthur’s ears flick. 

Tail held high he swaggered forward, making sure the fetching new bell dingled as he went. 

Arthur rolled over so his back was turned. 

Eames was not to be dissuaded. He sat down beside Arthur and gave himself a good long scratch behind an ear. The bell ringing clearly and constantly while he scratched. 

Arthur rolled back over to face him, lazily opening one eye. Eames flopped over onto his side and batted at Arthur’s whiskers with one paw. 

Arthur twitched away at first then wiggled forward to inspect the new bell on Eames collar. He gave it a sniff before rubbing his cheek against Eames.
