Viral Interventions: Final Artifact
Sentence: The music seemed welcoming at first, but the disturbing lyrics revealed a story of abuse.
Medium: Cables and headphones.
For our final artifact we decided to bring in the cable and the headphones. Such artifacts emphasize the use of sound in our installation, which could have also been improved if the tune was softer and more delicate as it is a sensitive topic. Moreover, we decided to wrap the cable around in order to reflect upon how we used trees and we wrapped the cables around them. And the headphones to reflect upon the music we were playing.

Viral Intervenions: Final Documentation
Sentence: The music seemed welcoming at first, but the disturbing lyrics revealed a story of abuse.
Medium: Cables, images(paper), tape
For our viral interventions group project, we decided to create an installation reflecting on abusive relationships. Our sentence was, āThe music seemed welcoming at first, but the disturbing lyrics revealed a story of abuseā. In order to transmit the sentence, we used cable to emphasize sound or lyrics, and we attached symbolic images as well as letters from victims. We played through a speaker, the sound in this video, at a moderate volume level. Throughout the day people approached the project, but we decided to stay as anonymous identities meaning we were not intending to connect with the audience.

Viral Interventions: Final Proposal
Sentence: The music seemed welcoming at first, but the disturbing lyrics revealed a story of abuse.
Medium: Cables, images(paper), tape
- Would be using cable, images, letters and audio. The audio would be transmitted through headphones or in a speaker.
- For our final proposal, we decided to create an installation using a tree, as it is frequently present throughout the environment and it helps sustain the cable which we would use to attach the images. The audio playing will follow a structure as said in the sentence, which is about music that seems welcoming, but the disturbing lyrics revealed a story of abuse. This installation would take place ideally by Miami Beach where there is movement or by 8th Street where thereās also a lot of movement throughout the streets.

QUOTE
āMaking art, I think, is not about one track, not one method, but the diversity of mediums and techniques is minor. But the diversity of ideas and how they survive and the methods they are transmitted is very importantā
COMMENT
I selected this quote because it emphasizes the importance of ideas over techniques in art. Art is a means of communication, and the message or concept often outweighs the medium through which it's expressed. I agree that the diversity of ideasāand how they are passed on through different formsāshapes culture and creativity. In my "experience" of processing creative expression, I see how ideas transcend specific methods, whether through painting, music, or digital media. This speaks to the nature of art: it's not just about how something is created, but what it communicates and how it is communicated.
QUESTION
How do you think the way we communicate ideas through art has evolved with technology and social media? Have digital platforms or virtual spaces, changed the way we value the concept or idea of art?
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS
IDEA #3
Based on the original sentence, this proposal idea takes the concept of "music hiding something disturbing." A box would be made that uses a lock that will only open to a certain tune, in this case the last 4 notes of Ring Around the Rosie. When it opens, inside the box will be a "posie" made out of paper, and the rest of the song will play. To present this to the public it will be put in a place that is accessible to the public and easily found, similar to geocaching puzzles and containers. The point is to make the people who interact with the box uncomfortable when they hear the song and see the flower based on the context of the meaning of the song.
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS
IDEA #2
For this idea, we thought of portraying the message through the use of materials and creating a brutal exhibition. As the base of the project we would use a wood board and place images attaching them with nails. We would place cables around the images like a crime evidence board. The cable will eventually lead to the headphones which will be playing an audio in this case the song, āLove the Way you Lieā or another type of audio.
VIRAL INTERVENTIONS
IDEA #1
For this idea we thought of pasting CDs on a big piece of cardboard/styrofoam. On one side some of them are going to be painted with colorful acrylics, then some of them are going to be broken into pieces and spread to the opposite side. In between the broken pieces, we are going to include black and white images that communicate toxic behaviors or sadness. In addition, if we decide to work with the song we used for the video, Loce The Way You Lie, we could add phrases of the lyrics. During the exhibition, we could also play the song in the background. We would present this idea to the public in Wynwood during the day.

VIRAL INTERVENTIONS
For this assingment, our group decided to do a performative act rather than writing out sentence down. Our phrase was; The music seemed welcoming at first, but the disturbing lyrics revealed a story of abuse. Furthermore, we decided to enact how people will typically listen to songs with dark abusive meanings but will not realize the real meaning behind the artistās words. The song we decided to use was, Love the Way you Lie by Rihanna and Eminem, as it is a song that talks about toxic relationships. As we played the song, we decided for one of us to act as if he was going to class listening to music and two of us sitting down, crying to portray the songās meaning and symbolize the meaning of the song.
