The new brute neoteny look, eyes always closed but eyelids are transparent enough to still look around. These fellas, despite their name, will no longer be a hint on what caste it'll grow into. Like some mites take their time going from worker to butcher, some neotenies take their time going from fish thing/crawling little ball sack to worker... or if they're unlucky, runt.

A farm moon being mostly colonies that chose to concentrate mostly on farms on top of the planet, but building below the grazing fields to keep the plant clear,

Industrial worlds just go from there, dig out the planet for the materials and produce metals and machines,

Lab worlds are mostly left how they were, other than major super structures where tests occur, pushing physics and the like.

Each can sustain themselves, but in the cluster, they can deviate and do a specific role if they wish to

In a way, yes! It can apply to a nest/colony made up of predominantly workers with butchers being the mites of influence/leaders, or a scavenger butcher who is tending to their makeshift herd of livestock mites to pamper and eat, often selling that product to the colonies they come across but never settling in one place.

I would like to but I'm going to be honest, mite script was mostly meant to utilized as a bit of a cipher both in-universe and when drawing out mite-dialogue in writing, less of a language and more of a code. Miteish in-lore is completely unlearnable, an insult to the very concept of language with them babbling incoherent, inconsistent gibberish while drawing horrid lil scribbles on walls yet somehow being understood clearly by their own, hell some even babble/write coherent english words but in very bizarre forms that make 0 sense but to another mite, is a very clear statement.

One mite can go, "euro plane bath tail waffle!" And the other nods, having instead heard, "Want to mug this guy with me?"

BUT! I see what direction you are wanting to take and is honestly what I've been doing with mite script!

With each character basically being vowels and consonants, you're just building the word from that! I've mostly shown them off building english words such as "hungry" "moon" and whatever else I showed previously, but this is very doable with other languages as well! I know I'm missing a few more vowels and consonants to cover even more languages but those can be designed eventually.

With mite script being code, I like the idea of building a sentence and changing every other word to be of a different language before turning them into mite script, making it fun to decipher what a mite is saying in what languages solely on the characters used to build said words!

i adore what youve done with the concepts of these sorts of "joke races" of creatures, trying to explain their traits by describing the worlds they originated from and the capitalist world they were brought into. The latter especially is so interesting, since the origins of these creatures are very human serving: the rabbids are something to laugh at and enjoy the silly antics of without thinking too much, how would that work if they were real sapient beings, and what society might they come from/life might they lead that causes them to act like that? The fluffies existed for people to indulge in cotton candy hedonistic fantasies, how might a creature that actively caters to human whims come about and what might be the consequences of that? It feels like you're really taking these concepts seriously and making the most out of them. This is an excellent exploration of ideas, and a good way of investigating the way the real world works.

Someone previously mentioned how the mist meeks were like AI in the way they used human language. They also reminded me of the demons from Frieren, creatures that prey on humans and only use words to lure us in. At one point, a demon cries out for her mother despite never being raised by one, because that word "stops humans from killing [them]".

What sorts of values do mist meeks generally hold? Are they programmed to desire human approval above all things, in the same way that humans seek meaning and AIs seek positive feedback? What do the brat mist meeks think of the world, and how does that differ from a human that might hold their same demeanor? In other words: what do mist meeks care about?

Also, what do these species call themselves? We call them moon mites and mist meeks, but how do they refer to themselves in their original culture?

I really love spending every ounce of my energy to overthink an silly critter's place in a cruel, evermoving universe, mind and all.

To live up to their "living plush toy of unconditional love" brand, meeks are designed to feel fulfilled with acts of affection and simple pleasures, motivating them to utilize their built-in instincts to recognize the most basic of social norms without being taught (being polite, empathetic, playful and conversational), their weak telepathy better motivating them in their attempts at bonding. Overall, they have a somewhat innocent world view, vaguely aware of their purpose as well as concepts such as good and bad, but they mostly indulge in careless wonder. That includes meeks with Brat and Rat temperments, who despite their entitlement, ignorance and outbursts, yearn for the simple pleasures as well. Smartys being the exception, becoming more aware than intended, feeling disgusted by their purpose and their nakedness... think garden of eden.

If Mist Meeks are pretty much always horny, do the more sentient ones do any spay/neuter so they aren't as horny or do they just deal (or take medication)? Would they decide to copulate with any other alien species or would they stick to their own?

For Moon Mites in populated areas, are there any of the feral ones that just decide to calm down and be a 'pet' to someone, or are they completely feral and refuse to be tamed? Saying feral since I've seen art one ones that act like people while others are more akin to an animal.

Well bred and trained mist meeks are normally not extraordinarily hormonal, those that are often originate from the backyard breeding of casual collectors, creating Rat and Brat meek temperments. Meeks are made to be socially aware and polite, using their weak telepathy to gather what social norms are meant to be followed within their households and communities. While they will experience the natural urge to breed, its relatively manageable, easy as giving the meek additional activities to enrich them as a lot of the time a meek getting humpy is from boredom and loneliness. Never should their attraction focus on anything other than a meek, and never should they breed without the owners permission. But if a meek goes as far as pursuing another species, refusing to put a stop to their hormonal behavior and even becoming aggressive, then you may have a Rat or Brat in your hands, in which you'll have to neuter. If it continues after, it's no longer hormones, its pure spite and you have a Brat that hates you.

As for moon mites, while some are more wild in their demeanor than others, it really depends on the mite themsleves and their way of meeting their unique priorities if they would willingly choose to become house pets. Even the most outwardly sapient may decide to become a pet if willing. Some mites, wild or semi-civilized would rather stay free spirits than to be held down by leash, but some may consider, just to see what it's like. Very often people that think they've successfully tamed a mite find themselves surprised when the mite suddenly leaves, no matter if the mite has been staying for months or even years.

I do have a question on whether or not they have thier own way of entertainment, other than fighting. Like whether you play dodgeball mixed with the game of chicken or is there something different they like playing?

They have many forms of entertainment, whether its making up games or songs on the spot, or managing to hijack their way into other societies broadcasts and interwebs to lurk and watch whatever entertainment they curate, sometimes sneaking in something mite-made.

Low yet high, a worker can have the most unaltered growth and somehow still manage to grow a new limb without rhyme or reason, outliers are spontaneous!

If that one old moonmite is technically the last untouched dna of the species would he not be the same as the others? (Having ovetesies i mean) and if so wouldn’t it be possible to actually extract those little eggs to bring the species back to how it was? In the sense of 1 becomes 2 becomes 4 and so on and so on

This mite is Caedmon, a solitary soldier living in the ruins of what was once one of the most powerful super colonies of the Moon Cluster. He wasn't a leader, not even a soldier (as a role and as a caste), just a humble little worker who spent his days letting his artistry run wild. He'd read the oldest of mite literature, he'd write the thoughts that ache inside, he'd paint visions, skulpt futures, and play songs that combine them both. He was an artist, which is another way to say he was a complete loser. Even in a colony full of artists, he was the odd one out, teased and bullied for his creations. Somehow, amongst losers, he was the most loser of them all, far too eccentric for their tastes, but even then, he wouldn't give up on his craft. The bullying would be the smallest of his troubles when his colony and another went to war. Conflicts between colonies are common, wars especially, but a war between super colonies is a devastating event, practically two entire moons going after each other while endangering any colonies settled on neighboring moons. This war would force all of Caedmon's colony into the front lines, workers forcibly turned into soldiers and butchers as their numbers dwindled, in the end, his colony fell. Survivors would flee to neighboring moons, but Caedmon would stay.

Despite the devastation, Caedmon has never been happier to have the ruins all to himself. Though many structures were crumbled or half buried underground, it was no issue for him, he rebuilt the structures around his little home (which is even deeper underground) and kept whatever remained of his moon tidy. He'd preserve the literature he can find and continue his craft as if nothing had changed...

But then, a new colony would find themselves settling in the ruins, very small in numbers and visibly inexperienced, likely having left their own colonies with the goal to start their own. A village would be built where the most intact ruins stood, and seeing them move things around would bother Caedmon enough to suddenly and rudely intrude. He'd scold them, threaten them to not ruin the ruins, he's instruct them on the purpose of the structures they begun to occupy, what a colony should and shouldn't prioritize, and so on. Caedmon didn't care if his barking chased them off, but he'd be caught by surprise when it had the opposite effect. His commands and threatening stature would make the village see him as a potential leader. They would begin to seek him out for advice on how to build up their young colony, and in his insults and spitting, caedmon would begrudgingly guide them. Though he doesn't show it, he his happy to see the husk of his colony filled with new life, as if his colony never fell... with new occupants, he, of course, takes the opportunity to show off his art as well as condescendingly explaining certain mite literature and philosophies to the new village. Despite having a new crowd, they also think his art is dogshit.

As the only soldier and honorary leader (despite not ever agreeing to that role), he protects the village from raiders when the time comes.

Moon mites are sapient but have been mislabeled as "feral" or "primitive" by larger societies for unknown reasons (there are many conspiracies in universe to what could've possible led to such mislabeled, the most common being to covering up their severe mistake of selling moon mite eggs as easy pets)
