Maidism began as a project here out of frustration with how much of the English language derives from masculine language. What started as frenzied hacking each head of this hydra upon discovery has cohered into a linguistic style that others have taken inspiration from and contributed to. This post collects those scattered principles into a single accessible location, to be updated over time, useful for whether you want to maidicize your everyday speech, reference it for creative fiction, or just think it's neat.
Maidism has one modest goal: the total feminization of the English language. Rip out masculinity root and stem, refuse to settle for "gender-neutral" language. Above all, have fun and be yourself, that's why I do this, and always question knowledge you've taken for granted, both in and outside the realm of etymology.
Why Maidist?
My first inklings of Maidism were born from my annoyance at the term Rifleman in military simulation spaces and a desire for a feminine replacement besides the standard, clunky "Riflewoman." I eventually settled on Riflemaid, for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it skews as close to man/mate as one can get while still being visually and audibly distinct, allowing it to easily replace them in existing phrases and compound words.
Secondly, "female" derives from Latin "femelle" (to suckle) but was later altered to match "male" so, doesn’t really serve our purposes here. "Woman" likewise comes from when "man" was neutral and synonymous with "hand" around 8 centuries ago, where we had the feminine "wifman" (wifehand) and masculine "werman" (manhand), but with "man" now masculine, woman doesn’t quite work either. That's where we get werewolf btw.
Thirdly, we already use maid in this way, just uncommonly, with mermaid, barmaid, handmaid, shieldmaid, bridesmaid, and so on. I like it, maid feels good on the tongue, and I work in housekeeping, I think maid deserves to be a term of honor, as femininity deserves as a whole, rather than its historical and contemporary denegrated position.
Why English?
It's my primary language. I've heard from those involved in great feminist discourse happening in other languages across the globe, and while I do some due diligence in basic feminizing of loan words I use in writing (o -> a in Spanish agent nouns, +in for Deutsch), I'm probably not who you should consult for deeper detail on that.
Why Idialect?
In linguistics, an idiolect describes the distinct dialect of an individual, and Maidism is more or less the product of a one maid army, though maybe it won't stay that way! However, the Greek idio- is masculine, its feminine equivalent is idia-. Thus, idialect.
The Fundamentals
So, down to the actual brass tacks. We can largely divide masculine language into two categories:
intrinsically masculine language, which contains a root or suffix synonymous with "man"
extrinsically masculine language, which lacks any masculine signifiess, but grew to be treated as masculine over time
There's gray areas, but let's go over some clear examples.
These feminize as mailmaid, actress, bakster, lieutenante, aquaria, and matriot, respectively. You can also mix up feminine suffixes, -trice/-trix/-tress are synonymous, same with -ster/-stress/ess, and others. Use what feels right to you in the moment! If you don't know the origin of an agent suffix, check it on wiktionary, there's a good chance its masculine.
Generally, avoid -er, -(t)or, -(ar)ius, -eur, -ant, -o. Be particularly wary of words from Latin and French, they're slippery bastardes. At least French you can slap an -e on most suffixes and call it a day.
Traditionally feminize as priestess, lady, queen, shepherdess, bee, duck. Some of these terms (priest, lord, king) have no inherent masculinity to them, they were just roles historically exclusive to men. Shepherd is a clipping from sheepherder, I think it along with terms like priest or baron are fine, it can also be fun to use shepherdess, priestess, baroness, and the like. Femininity isn't something extraneous, it's something to assert proudly and to enjoy!
Drone, drake, and other terms for sexgendering animals are silly, all animals are girls. I also think its fine to keep using those terms as long as you're not thinking of the animal as "male" and still know she's, yknow, she. Use at your own peril.
This is far, far from comprehensive, and I'll likely add more as I learn more independently from others, I'm doing it all the time, it's something I enjoy and, if anymaid else gets something from this, awesome, yknow? Maybe this grows into more, maybe it stays a basic primess I can hand to randoms who download my wargame RIFLEMAID and go "why is this written like that" we'll see lol. And if it gets one person to stop saying "guys/dude/bro/man/buddy" all the time, that's a win in my book

Am I the only one that finds those posts that are like, "Oh, I hate Jax and want to beat her to death, but I won't ever misgender her!" Kinda fucked up and transmisogynistic? Look just hear me out on this.
The issue is not them hating Jax; genuinely, if you dislike her character, that's perfectly okay; not everything is for everyone, and not liking a character doesn't make you a bigot.
But fantasizing about doing violence to a trans woman isn't woke just because you don't misgender her as you do it. Even with the most charitable interpretation, these kinds of posts still just read as "fanbase is violently hateful and misogynistic to a female character for the crime of being a little too annoying."
Like, if she were a genuine monster with no redeeming qualities or did something super fucking evil and twisted, then whatever, but, like. Objectively speaking, she's not even the worst person in her own fucking show.
Caine literally skins Jax alive while mocking her for her dysphoria; has Pomni violently mangled by the fucked-up visage of her friend that he himself murdered; summons the image of Ragatha's abusive mom to impale her with knives; mocks Zooble's dysphoria in the cruelest way possible; and destroys Gangle's entire fucking sense of self, not to mention he is directly responsible for Kaufmo killing himself and indirectly responsible for the other abstractions as well.
Caine is an objectively worse person than Jax by every single measure possible, and yet from the way the fans act, you would think Caine is literally an infant and Jax is the devil from the Bible.
In TADC we watch a closeted, repressed trans woman lash out, try to kill herself, have a moment of despair, beg to live, and then die filled with regret as she mourns the girl she could have been.
If somebody can see all of that and fully comprehend why she acted the way she did and how her abuse affected her, and they still don't feel even the slightest shred of empathy or compassion towards her and instead fantasize about violently torturing her while making posts about how she's the worst person in the circus and deserved what she got, then why would I feel safe around them as a trans woman?
I have two example posts here with names cropped out so people don't jump them because I'm not a fucking pos. First, this one:
Oh, a trans man went to the movie and found out the character is a trans woman and came out hating her more? How fucking interesting. Care to elaborate a bit on why that is?
And then there's this one:
"Ahaha, guys, it's not weird at all that I'm publicly fantasizing about torturing a trans girl! I'm doing her the great service of not misgendering her, so it's actually woke!" bffr.
These people see correctly gendering a trans woman as a reward and think it somehow gives them carte blanche to say fucked-up shit about a trans woman. This is functionally indistinguishable from the "trans-inclusive radical misogyny" jokes, which have been funny maybe two times ever.
Anyways, TLDR: ffs, please just be normal about trans women. I've got smut to write, so rant over.

My favourite parts of this post are how you seem to be under the impression that because the space is not specifically catered to you and your invisible demands, you feel the need to make a grandstanding moral statement about 'other spaces' being inevitable while evidently not feeling the need to put in any legwork yourself to achieving such a goal (or at least, none that you have made apparent).
I do also like that you haven't actually provided any evidence of your alledged aggreivances with the moderation team. Presumably - as is usually the case - because you either don't have any or because they would make you look bad.

do we have to do away with any luxuries? do we really? the .1% will certainly have to lose some, but we are not the .1% or probably even the 1%. all the numbers I've seen have said we the proles could continue living at the very least not less comfortably if not more comfortably if wealth were evenly distributed.

last year I made $21,000 USD gross income for a household of 2, placing me just below the federal poverty line, and I live in an expensive city, very frugally, paycheck to paycheck. Despite this, I'm in the top 25% of incomes globally and live with a number of luxuries that could not be sustained globally, and indeed, even the current level is already killing the planet.
When I go to the store, everything is the product of deeply inefficient global supply chains because it's cheapest thanks to colonialism suppressing the cost of labor and fuel for shipping outside the imperial core. This, combined with all the disposable plastic and goods generally built to be quickly replaced instead of kept and repaired, is unsustainable. My ability to cheaply buy any fruits and vegetables I want year round is unsustainable. I do not own a car, but private car ownership likewise is unsustainable. All these practices rely on mass exploitation and pollution. Even the poor and oppressed in the United States and her imperial sisters reap these luxurious benefits that much of the world cannot access and could never sustainably.
Any kind of equitable global arrangement where we abolish the class divides that drive this exploitation, whether we call it anarchism or communism any other ism, will mean that some luxuries must be done away with.
However, crucially, I do think that we'd all be living more comfortably and happily as a result. We are currently deeply alienated, from our work, from our communities, from ourselves, as a result of these systems. At all times the forces of capital seek to further alienate us, to bulldoze what bonds of common sisterhood between all maidkind remain and put up more walls, make less space for us and more for the sake of profit, pave over life for parking lots and six-lane roads. You can afford a great many treats, but the only comfort in your life is that which can be bought.
I would happily give up much of the convenience in my life for true comfort, and I'm involved in local organizing to work towards it. For a world without advertisement, without private walls around knowledge and art and the outdoors and everything else, without bosses and landlords and armed jackboots, where I live in common sisterhood and self-govern with those around me at my workplace and my home? There is little I wouldn't give up for that, and I earnestly believe that most others feel the same, or would if they got a taste of it
