There’s Marc, Steven and Jake. (+3)
It depends on who’s writing them, but I can see Moon Knight and Mr. Knight as their own guys. When reading through the 80s comic, I can definitely view MK and Marc as two different guys instead of it just being Marc in the MK suit. The way I think about it is that Marc runs around in the suit as MK, but there is a separate MK alter that takes the role sometimes. I can definitely see it being the same situation with Mr.K, especially with the existence of these panels:
Something about the “it’s not a mask, it’s your face” “smart kid” lines makes me believe it’s possible Mr.K is his own guy. (+2)
Then there’s Moon Knight One (the space guy.) I love him a lot actually, I personally believe he’s still around, but doesn’t front often / at all. (Mackay bring him pls it’d be really cool plsplsplspls) (+1)
As much as I love the concept of Inner Child, to my knowledge, she’s never been shown to exist in Earth 616. She appeared in the Ultimate universe, Earth 1610. Same goes for the Ronin alter, but I’m not as big of a fan of him. I personally HC that she exists in 616 and doesn’t front as often as the others, but like I said, she’s never been shown to canonically exist.
When it comes to Khonshu, I never really considered the idea of them having an alter of him. I think it’d make for a really interesting storyline, and it’d be cool if a future writer made it an official thing. I’ve gotta go re-read Lemire now bc I never considered a Khonshu introject and that’s a cool interpretation. (+1?)
And finally, the Bendis thing. I will preface this by saying I quite dislike that run. It doesn’t feel like Bendis knew enough about what the character does, and basically just went “huh this guys weird I’m gonna make him do weird shit!” and wrote the comic. I kind of like to pretend that run didn’t happen, it’s not my favorite. As of Wolverine, Spider-Man and Cap- putting aside my opinions on the run for a moment, they definitely could still be around. Just like with MK One, I think it could be interesting to reference them in a future issue, though nothing recent (to my knowledge) has brought them up since Bendis’ run. (+3?)
Being completely honest, I have no idea what this panel is supposed to imply. I’ve seen people interpret it as them gaining an alter based on her, but it could also just be Marc thinking about her after what happened? (+1?)
At the least, there are only 3. (M, S, J.)
At the most, there are 12. (M, S, J, MK, Mr.K, MK1, Inner Child, Ronin, Wolverine, S-M, Cap, Echo.) ((Maybe 2 more if you count the 1610 versions of Steven and Marc?)(
There is not an official number out there, and a lot of it is up to the reader’s interpretation. A good chunk of this is also features my bias towards certain runs + characters.
