LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE W BUNNY IGLESIAS
synopsis: A series of events leads you to a stranger whoâs not as random as fate makes it seem
a/n: there are parts in this story that deal with sensitive and emotional themes. While it does not directly portray su!c!d3 or se!f-harm, some readers may interpret certain moments as sensitive in nature. This is NOT meant to glorify, romanticize, or diminish the seriousness of su!c!d3 or those who are struggling with it. My work is just a personal and interpretive way on how I think Bunny would cope with his emotions and thoughts. BUT if this topic is triggering or close to your experience, please take care of yourself, consider reaching out for support if you need it and know that youâre not alone and I sincerely hope youâre doing okay.
Seeing Bunny Iglesias leaning against a bridge at night made for one hell of a first meeting.
It wasnât anything worth noticing.
He was dressed in a black cap, everyday clothes and nothing wouldâve gave him away, aside from the faint glimpse of lavender hair peeking through. Not many people were out there at this time anyway, so most wouldâve passed him without a second glance.
You wouldâve minded your own business and kept walking too.
You almost did.
But just as you were about to pass him, you noticed the way he leanedâŚjust a little further than what felt safe.
Thatâs when your (flawed or not) instincts kicked in.
âWAIT-â
Grabbing his hoodie, you yanked him back, practically tackling him to the ground as he let out a sharp cough from the force.
In an instant, you were both on the groundâyour leg half-thrown over his, one hand pressed against his chest as you tried to keep him still, your breathing shaky under the sound of passing cars overhead.
Time kept moving.
He didnât.
Steadying yourself, you quickly sat up, immediately grabbing his face between your hands.
âAre you okay?â
Soft lavender locks fell into his eyes as Bunny let out a low groan, noticing the warmth of your hands against his skin, your eyes locked onto his crimson ones.
Not his scars.
No recognition in your eyes either.
Just pure worry. Care. Whatever. Maybe even a few tears threatening to form.
âYou have the most gorgeous eyes Iâve ever seen, queridaâŚâ he muttered, smirking at the look of confusion on your face.
âDudeâŚI think I caused you a concussion.â you said, before turning his face left and right for any signs of injury. âAt least youâre alive and arenât bleeding.â
Alive?
âŚOH-
A loud echo of his laugh filled the midnight air of Spain, despite the ache in his body.
âYou thoughtâŚ?â he breathed out.
âWhat?â you sniffled, now more annoyed than worried, but still refusing to let go of him. âThat you were about to die? Yeah, I fucking thought that.â
Slowly sitting up, he steadied himself with one hand on the ground while the other clutched his cap before meeting your gaze more properly now.
âI didnât mean to worry you, sorry for that. Really. Swear on my life, I was just trying to grab my cap.â, he said with a hint of teasing, voice much softer now, lifting it slightly in his hand as proof. âThe wind blew it offâŚâ
Letting out a sigh, you climbed off him and got to your feet before offering a hand to help him up.
âIâm sorry too. For the misunderstanding,â you mumbled, glancing at his now ripped pants. âAnd for your jeansâŚâ
At that, he simply ruffled your hair and placed his cap on top of it, before leaning down and carefully wiping your tears away with his thumb.
âItâs okay, mi heroĂna.â
For a second too long, he lingered like he wanted to say something else, but decided to just smile and pull away. Casually walking off, he turned his head back over his shoulder halfway down the bridge.
âKEEP IT!â
And with that, he was gone.
You stood there for a while, the bridge quiet again except for the distant city noise and your heartbeat still hammering in your chest.
Once your breathing steadied, you crouched down, the adrenaline slowly draining from your body as you took a closer look at the strangerâs cap.
A rabbit stitched neatly on the front.
ââŚcuteâŚâ
Running while weaving through the crowd, you were just about to avoid it when the restaurant door swung open and someone walked straight into you.
âOh shit, Iâm so sorry!â you blurted out, wincing as you looked at the white shirt now stained with coffee.
âItâs okay.â
That voiceâŚ
âOh, mi heroĂnaâŚis that you?â
Looking up, your eyes caught on the familiar black cap.
A rabbit stitched on the front.
The very same one youâd been wearing for months.
Today was no exception.
Then you took a closer look at his face.
Same grin and dead eyes.
âYou?â
âYeah, me.â he seemed surprisingly pleased by the sight of his cap on your head.
It had been months since that incident, and you hadnât expected a reminder of it here, of all places. But fate, apparently, had other plans.
Standing in the middle of the crowd, he looked around before gently grabbing your wrist as he led you toward a quieter corner.
âWanna grab a drink?â he offered, completely unbothered by the fact that he was already soaked in your coffee.
âI think Iâm just gonna wring your shirt out,â you replied, digging through your bag for a tissue.
Letting out an amused laugh, he squatted down, pulling his cap off and ran a hand through his hair, tilting his head as he glanced up.
âWanna see me half-naked?â
âYouâre gonna be half dead if you donât shut up.â
Grinning, he watched you for a while before pulling out his phone, and holding it out to you.
âYou can give me a call once you find a dry cleaner.â
âOrâŚI could just pay you for itâŚâ you said, pushing his phone away.
He clicked his tongue. âThatâs boring.â
âWhat?â
âMeeting you again sounds better.â
You rolled your eyes, stepping a little closer before squatting down to his level, though it didnât help much as he was still taller.
âBecause you think Iâm interesting or something?â
âYeah.â leaning in slightly, his tone turned playful, eyes glancing over your face. âIâm also pretty interested.â
It was outside the stadium where you were told to wait for him.
The crowd was still spilling out in waves, voices and footsteps blending into one loud blur.
When he finally showed up with two drinks in his hands, you assumed heâd just been there to the watch a match or somethingânothing about him really screamed âprofessional athleteâ. Not when he looked that put together without a drop of sweat in sight.
Not yet, at least.
âSoâŚhow did the match go? Did you cheer?â
He paused in his steps, tilting his head. âWhat do you mean, cariĂąo?â
You gave him a confused look, now confused at his confusion.
âLikeâŚyou were cheering. As a fan. Right?â
And then, like a light bulb flicking on, he nodded.
âAh, yes. Totally. We won.â
As the two of you kept walking without any real destination, you decided to break the silence once again.
âExactly how many of the same cap do you have?â
Taking a sip, Bunny glanced between the one on your head and the one in his hand.
âA few.â
âA few?â
âA lot.â
You stared at his grin with growing concern as you took another sip of your drink.
âRich people scare me.â
That earned a laugh.
âLetâs just say I used to be a football fan, querida. Iâm allowed to own more than one cap.â
âPretty sure owning ten identical ones count as a crime.â
âGood thing I never said ten.â
âOh my god.â
The grin on his face only widened as he continued walking ahead.
Meanwhile, the city around you was buzzing with chatter and laughter, cars passed by, and people hurried along the sidewalks as the heatwave continued to rage. Somehow, it felt strangely similar to that night on the bridge.
Just less dramatic.
And significantly less crying.
Taking a break on a nearby bench, he rested his face on his hand, eyes flickering to his cap on your head.
âYou kept it.â
Reaching up, you touched the brim.
âWell, you told me to.â
âMost people wouldâve given it back.â
âMost people donât save your life on a random night even if it was a huge misunderstanding.â you argued.
âThatâs your reason?â
âOne of them.â
âWhatâs the other?â
You shrugged.
âIt seemed pretty expensive. You could have changed your mind and stalked me down to get it back. Some kind of exclusive merch, yâknow?â
With a raised brow, he scooted closer, a sly grin on his face.
âSĂ, claro. My favorite playerâs.â
âAnd remind meâŚwhoâs your favorite again?â
âSUPER GOOOOOLAZOO!
BUNNY IGLESIAS!â
Sitting in front of the TV, you didnât know whether to act surprised, offended, or simply stupid at the fact thatâŚ
âYou didnât tell me you were a freaking world-class athlete!â
Staring back at his own face on the screen, Bunny let out a small laugh, shaking his head before dropping down onto the rug in front of the couch while you sat surrounded by cushions and his bunny plushie from ages ago.
âI meanâŚâ he said quietly, eyes fixed somewhere past you. âWould you have looked at me the same way if you knew?â
Stunned, you just stared at him for a moment, the noise from the TV fading into the background as his words replayed in your head.
Would you have looked at him the same way if you knew?
The question stuck with you in a way you couldnât quite shake.
It wasnât about football, fame or that heâd somehow forgotten to mention he was one of the best players in the world.
It wasnât the revelation that bothered you.
It was the doubt behind it.
The quiet assumption that finding out who he was might somehow change everything.
As if the person youâd met and the person sitting in front of you were two different people.
Something in your chest ached at the way he asked it, but your answer was already clear in your mind.
âObviously.â you grabbed a cushion and tossed it at him. âWho are you to get my special treatment?â
It hit him square in the chest.
For a second, he just stared.
Bunny looked genuinely caught off guard.
It could have been your answerâsimple, but honest or the fact that, for once, heâd felt seen without everything else attached to him.
You saw him as just a living person named Bunny Iglesias.
At the thought of that, he gave you a ghost of a smile.
âYou sometimes make me wanna die, cariĂąo.â
âYouâre welcome, but I wouldnât let you.â
âI know.â
âGood.â
Shaking his head, he leaned back against the couch, sitting on the floor between your knees.
The conversation drifted off after that, replaced by whatever movie was playing on the screen. At some point, you absentmindedly started playing with a loose strand of his hair.
He didnât comment on it.
Didnât move away either.
His apartment felt unusually quiet, warm sunlight long gone from the windows as evening settled outside.
After a while, you felt his head grow a little heavier against the couch.
âAre you falling asleep?â
âPara nada.â [not at all]
Holding his face between your hands, you leaned in until your nose brushed his.
âYour eyes are literally closed.â
âResting them.â
You snorted.
Right.
He was the one playing tonight just a few hours ago.
The same person youâd accidentally met months ago.
The same person youâd called out for having a ridiculous hat collection.
And somehow, the same person whose apartment you were currently crashing in simply because heâd asked.
Damn.
You were down bad.
And judging by the bunny caps sitting side by side on the coffee table, you were way too deep in this rabbit hole to pretend otherwise.
Occupied by your own thoughts, you didnât even notice when he fell asleep.
Careful not to wake him, you pulled a blanket from the armrest and draped it over his figure. Without even opening his eyes, he reached out and caught your wristâinstinctively, like he wanted to make sure you were still there. The grip loosened almost immediately, but he never let go completely.
And for some reason, you didnât bother pulling away either.
âStay, mi heroĂnaâŚpleaseâŚâ
You silently watched the way his face rested so peacefully against your palm before you finally gave in.
âUgh, fine. Iâm gonna steal your clothes tho. Be right back.â
There was something both intimate and irritating about lying in the same bed as Bunny.
âCouldnât you have taken the couch?â you asked, patting the pillow wall youâd built to separate the bed.
Even through it, you could feel him inching closer, like he didnât care much for boundaries.
âShouldnât I be the one asking that?â he mumbled, half-asleep, though you could still hear the faint smirk in it.
âWerenât you the one begging me to stay?â you said, pulling the blanket closer.
âBegging? Thatâs strong.â
âIt was. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.â
âLucky you then,â he murmured. âYouâre the first person Iâve ever acted like that with. And the only person to call me pathetic.â
You laughed, turning toward the window instead, the view of the night sky and the yellow lights that the city bathed in bringing an odd sense of comfort.
For a while, neither of you spoke.
âBunny?â
âHm?â
You hesitated.
âTo be honestâŚwhen I first saw you, I thought you had the saddest smile on your face.â
Silence followed before there was a small shift beside you. The bed creaked as he sat up slightly, looking at you now instead of the ceiling.
âÂĄQuĂŠ locura!âŚâ he murmured. âToday a guy at the restaurant said the exact same thing to me.â
âReally? Must be true then,â reaching for his hand, you started to trace slow circles over his knuckles as your hands rested on the pillow barrier.
âDoesnât mean it isnât beautiful though,â you added.
Silence settled again.
Then Bunny shifted closer, kicking down the pillow wall entirely.
âMaybe it was just waiting for someone whoâd actually see it,â he said under his breath.
Before you realized it, the space between you was gone.
The pillow wall collapsed somewhere in the dark.
And neither of you bothered to fix it.
You fell asleep like thatâhis arms loosely around your waist, face tucked into your neck, breathing slow and steady.
And for the first time in a long while, Bunny had a real, genuine smile gently resting across his face.
ADDITIONAL TIME:
You woke up to the sound of cheers and whistle, commentators chanting Bunnyâs name from the TV.
âWhy are you replaying your own goal?â you mumbled, lying in his borrowed shirt with open arms as he dropped onto you, back facing the ceiling, settling into your embrace.
âGood morning, amor,â he greeted. âI was just analyzing yesterdayâs match. The team was great, butâŚI realizedâŚâ
âMmâŚâ you hummed, fingers already tangled in his hair, urging him to continue.
âI want my own. Why donât we make our own football team?â
He said it like it was the most normal idea in the world, punctuating it with lazy kisses as you tried to push him away.
Laughing, that was when you decided to grab a pillow and use it as a shield against his lips.
âGross. Just shut up and go back to sleep, Iglesias.â

i just hope one day you find a person who makes the world feel a little lighter. someone who helps you discover the little joys you may not have gotten to have when you were younger..and who never makes you feel embarrassed for finding happiness in simple, childlike things.
i hope they hold your face in their hands and give you gentle kisses across your cheeks and the tip of your nose and tell you theyâre proud of you. not because youâve earned it..but because they see how hard youâve tried. how far youâve come.
and i hope they dance with you for no reason, and make you laugh so much your stomach hurts..and meet that softness you have with their own. that they never make you feel small for needing reassurance, or affection or gentle words.
that they make sure you understand that those needs arenât burdens, theyâre just places where love gets to show up.
on swing sets, and slow dances in the kitchen, and stargazing on a trampoline.
baby,
tell me about the little girl you used to be.
was home the place you ran to, or the place you dreamed of escaping?
when your heart hurt, who did you reach for?
who made you feel safe?
who made you feel like you had to earn love?
tell me about your family.
tell me about the women who came before me.
did they hold your heart gently?
did they love the parts of you that were hardest to believe deserved loving? what pieces of them still live inside you?
what pieces of you are still waiting to be found again?
i want to know every version of you.
the little girl who needed someone to understand her.
the woman i'm lucky enough to love.
and every version in between that fought so hard to become her.
tell me everything.
then curl up a little closer..
and let me tell you about mine.
ME X YOUďźft. nagi seishiro
IN WHICHďšnagi was watching cute cat videos in the middle of the night as he was unable to sleep, as he suddenly saw two cats cuddlingâa fluffy white maine coon and a cute ragdoll cat. seeing them, he had the urge to reach over and wake you up next to him to show you the two cats, saying that âitâs us.â
established relationship. pure fluff. gn!reader. reader is a bit grumpy at first being woken up. nagi being nagi.
âmmph..â nagiâs small hums filled the air, his earbuds tucked into his ears as to carefully not wake youâhis partner, whom he held with one arm thrown lazily over your waistâusing your shoulder to prop his phone against. for once, he didnât feel tired. he didnât want to sleep. but you did, after a long day full of stress.
the ceiling fan buzzed as cold air left its tips, a comfortable contrast to the warmth of the blanket haphazardly covering the two. his phone created a barely-there glow over his face, causing his lidded eyes to shimmer under the light. the overall atmosphere in the room was cozy.
howeverâdespite how soft and sweet this moment may seemânagi was bored and had nothing to do. he had done all of his dailies on the games he frequents, there were no new events, nothing to save up for, and there was somehow nothing interesting to watch on any streaming apps. the night quickly became a bore as he endlessly scrolled through his recommended on youtube, on the verge of opening the addictive allure of tiktok to scroll until the sun came up.
just as he was about to close the app, a thumbnail caught his eye. it was a video from years ago that had only recently grown in popularity, with two adorable cats cuddling on the thumbnail. as lazy as a cat himself, of course he loved the little critters. and so, he clicked on the video.
it was only around sixteen seconds, short and sweet. small purrs flowed into his ears, and he recognized the cats by their breeds. a ragdoll and maine coon. he couldnât help but see the two of you in them, all cuddly and lazily affectionate with one another.
he had the silly urge to wake you up and show you the video, rather than just sending it to you through discord and leaving it for you to watch later. was it stupid to wake you up in the middle of the night? absolutely. did he think about the stupidity of it? not even once.
âangel, wake up..â he murmured, his voice oddly softer than usual. he rolled one leg over yours, full-on clinging as he rubbed his head against your neck in an attempt to grab your attention. âwanna show you this.â he prodded, hearing your sleepy groans as you drifted between dreamland and the real world.
âsei.. mmgh, what the hellââ âlook.â the low light of his phone being showcased in front of you left you blinking, attempting to adjust your eyes from the darkness to his screen. squinting, you made out two cuddly cats. normally, you would swoon over such a cute scene.
however, it was currently 2:44a.m. and you were on the verge of hitting him upside the head for waking you up. rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you stared up at him. not his phone, which he is very clearly trying to make you look at despite the several failed attempts.
âwhat..? did i do something?â you almost wanted to laugh at how innocent he sounded. as if he didnât just wake you up in the middle of the night so he could show you a video of two cats. gods, you loved this man. thatâs why you asked for forgiveness for what you were about to do.
snatching his phone out of his hand, you threw it haphazardly onto the nightstand and rolled onto him. it was safe to say he was a little puzzled. not shocked, no. just staring at you without a single thought behind those blank eyes of his. it was awkward and silent for the next minute before you finally spoke up, voice full of rasp from sleep and eyes half open,
âi love you. but go the fuck to sleep before i banish you to the couch.â there was an audible gulp. another awkward minute of silence. luckily, the man was smart enough to wrap his arms around you and place a kiss on the crown of your head. and then stupid was back not even two seconds later.
âyou forgot to throw my earbuds with my phoneââ ânagi.â âyep. knew it as i said it. good night.â
