MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM GRAND RE-OPENING TONIGHT!

For the last four and a half months, the Monterey Bay Aquarium has been under construction while undergoing Government funded renovations managed by local developers, Pelican Projects.

Today, the beloved aquarium will be re-opening its doors to showcase its wonderful new main entrance, ocean science center and The Reef, a sustainable, fair-trade plant based restaurant and bar.

The aquarium will be free-of-charge all weekend, opening at 11 am and closing at 5 pm.

At 6 pm on Saturday night, The Reef will be hosting a special celebratory cocktail evening which will be for persons aged 16+ from 9 pm.

SARA LENCZYCKI, (JENNY SLATE) is a THIRTY-SIX YEAR OLD KINDERGARTEN TEACHER who has been living in Monterey Bay for TWELVE YEARS.  SHE is connected to Otter Bay Elementary School.  Played by Nie, she/her, EST

HOW IT WORKS.

This is a plot-optional RP, which means that players will decide whether they would like to engage in a narrative-driven murder mystery plot or whether they would like to use Monterey Bay as a standard form plotless town RP.

THE PLOT

Monterey Bay is set in the wealthy coastal town of Monterey, California. The overarching plot revolves around a group of adults connected to one another by the local public school, Otter Bay Elementary.

In the beginning, many of the characters will live seemingly perfect lives and will be largely unaware of the personal and emotional struggles of those around them, even their closest friends. Tension in Monterey Bay will grow when the Otter Bay community becomes embroiled in a criminal investigation after a body is found at a school fundraiser. It is clear that somebody connected to the school is responsible for the suspicious death and players will have to decide whether their character is more invested in finding the culprit or saving their own skin.

Using collaborative story-writing, strategic thinking and careful manipulation, players will consider their characters' hidden agendas and motivations and work together to either obstruct or help solve a central mystery that threatens to unravel the entire Monterey Bay community.

TALLULAH ‘TULLY’ KIPLING, (MAE WHITMAN) is a THIRTY-TWO YEAR OLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NURSE who has been living in Monterey Bay for SEVEN YEARS. SHE is connected to Otter Bay Elementary School. Played by GRAY, SHE/ANY EST

EMILY STEWART (Victoria Pedretti) is a TWENTY SEVEN YEAR OLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER who has been living in Monterey Bay for TWO YEARS.

HOW IT WORKS

The setting contrasts the luxurious lives of many of the inhabitants of Monterey with the underlying tensions and secrets that lurk beneath the surface of their seemingly perfect community. This dichotomy is used to explore themes such as wealth, power, privilege and social status and how they intersect with the characters' relationships and experiences.

OPT IN: Players who opt in to the plot will be expected to delve deeper into the complex web of secrets and lies that permeate Monterey Society. Your character may face challenging moral dilemmas, complicated relationships, and intense emotional struggles while simultaneously trying to expose the secrets of others and protect secrets of their own.

OPT OUT: Players who opt out of the plot will have a more sandbox experience, using the Monterey Bay setting, characters and other minor plot points such as events to inspire their own stories. This is better suited to players who have less time to commit to RP or who want a less structured RP experience.
