Bleeding tooth fungus, scientific name hydenellum peckii is a fairly uncommon fungi located in the northern hemisphere, whike widespread its rarely seen in large groups and very sensitive to soil changes.
The mushroom gets it nanes from a discharge it produces, the mushrooms absorbs to much water from the surrounding soil and roots, throigh a procces called guttation ibternal pressyre builds up causing it to 'sweat'. It apears red due to the water mixing with natural pigments in the mushroom
Inside the pigments is atromentin, a natural anti coagulant
It grows in acidic and mossy soil in confirous forests near tree roots
1912: it was classed as hydenellum

Did you know theres a mushroom thats completely fine to eat unless consumed with alcohol? Its called the common ink cap, it contains coprine which temporarily blocks a liver enzyme (aldehyde dehydrogenase) which causes coprinus syndrome! Which causes the following:
Intense facial and neck flushing
Severe throbbing headache
Rapid heartbeat
Nausea and vomiting
Shortness of breath
Tingling sensations in the limbs
Ink caps are one of my favourite mushrooms as their wgat got me into mushrooms!
