IHS Digital

A) I have gotten most of my interviews from members of the Asian American Club and Mr.Cass (advisor). I also have b-roll of the group meeting and their interactions. I am figuring out how to smoothly put together clips with limited narration. 

  Shot 1: Put a Go-Pro on the student's head to capture his or her morning routine and how he gets ready for school. Capturing what he or she eats for breakfast and get shots of his or her family. 

Shot 2: At school, I would get a shot of the hallway and all the students rushing to get to class. I would speed up this shot to show the chaos of a packed hall. 

Shot 3: rather than having a camera on the student's head in class, I would like to put one on the teacher's head or body if possible to get a different point of view while still focusing on the student. 

Shot 4: For gym class, if they were playing kickball I would put a go-pro on the student's head and then try and get the view of the ball flying in the air.

Shot 5: Capture the student's group of friends socializing maybe in the cafeteria or the library.  

Shot 6: et a shot of the students taking a test. Adding drama to the shot by using effects or a specific shot. 

Shot 7: Put a Go-Pro on the car on the student's way home. 

Growing up in Ithaca has given me the opportunity to grow up with an open mind and live more independently. This may be because Ithaca is generally a safe place with lots of places to walk to and experience. With such a diverse community, the atmosphere of Ithaca feels very accepting.                        

A) I need to figure out a smooth way to illustrate what I imagine as I walk with the actual walking footage. I am planning on using YouTube videos to illustrate my inspiration. The length of the segment will need to be experimented with. It can't be too long because the audience will get bored but it can't be to short where my point does't get across. 

1) If you are going to college and you plan on working. What type of job is the best one to get money as well as manage your time to finish work? Waiter, Bartender, tutor?

2) After graduating high school, you have ONE more summer before going off into college to spend with your friends you've had since elementary school. How do you spend that summer? What type of activities will be most meaningful and memorable?

Question: What are three projects that you think a student-lead panel could engage in with the Superintendent and his office – beyond what we do here –WITH DIGITAL MEDIA? What kind of programming / clips / youtube channels could begin to create for the school, the community, or broader? (Think: school issues, college transition issues, job opportunities, ways to change / improve the school, etc.)

*B) Which 5 of those things do you think are not talked about enough / correctly? 

I think citizens of Ithaca take advantage of the landscape in Ithaca and all the beauty it has to offer. There are not a lot of places like Ithaca in the world.

Staying on this theme, Ithaca gives the community lots of things to do such as festivals, concerts and lots more. I think we need to give back to the community through volunteering and keeping Ithaca clean by keeping up recycling and reducing food waste. 

Women's rights can always be talked about more. Maybe there are different ways to approach women's rights. 

I think women's lacrosse isn't as popular as it could be. People always ask me how to play the sport and what the rules are. 

*C) What are 3 of those things that you have a personal connection to / specific stories of?

A) I enjoyed how they showed b-roll and provided information before seeing the anchor talk more about the subject. As Mr. Reiff said in class, their ability to do an entire story on Chapo without him ever speaking was interesting.

B) I like when they showed the photos of when we was caught and in handcuffs because he looks a little vulnerable but at the same time like he didn't care at all.

The problem with small publications is that the information given may not be accurate and it may be extremely biased. However at the same time this may be good because we are hearing of another opinion that we may have never heard before. Having a lot of different publications to refer to leads to a good paper or debate!

A) I would like to hear about the teacher tests put in play this year. I forget the name of them but how a teacher's abilities are measured using these tests. Is there any error such as students not feeling like progressing over the year?

1) My camera skills have improved since being on the floor during recording. I've also improved on my interviewing skills and creating an idea for a segment from all the practice we have had. 

A) I enjoyed the rush I got during recording and after. It was fun feeling accomplished and as I watched our segment record, I picked up some things we could work on for the next segment. 

B) Time management definitely had an impact on our final piece. I need to stay on task more and prepare better for the following day.
