It seems to be some sort of creepy seal. 

You knew someone in middle school once that was into this sort of stuff. He doodled weird symbols like this in his journal all the time to be edgy.

The adrenaline was starting to wear off now, and she began to take stock of what just happened, which was a huge mistake because as a result a godo portion of her started to freak out. 

I JUST PULLED A GUY OUT OF A PORTAL HOLE??? WHAT??????

And yet, this was what she was stuck with. It seemed that this (rather attractive) person was trying to…t-talk to her!?

A…doppelganger!? Wait wait wait! That means…

“If you’re a doppelganger, what do ya really look like!?”

A regretful sigh and he waved his hand dismissive. “The closest approximate to our real form is just a black silhouette, a 3d shadow some would say. It’s not interesting or attractive at all.” He spoke a bit disheartening. Surprised she knew on a somewhat base level what a doppelganger was.

“Oh on the other hand if you want i can change shape to look like someone else if this form is undesirable. I don’t want to put off my rescuer after all.” He offered plain as day, locking eye contact in seconds with the NEET wannabe. The ball was in her court once more proverbially. He didn’t seem to have any outward prejudice or malice towards her at least.

“U-uh...n-n-no need, it’s a-a-a-alright, youlookgoodanyway.”

...did i just say that?

“I-i mean...you...look...good? Imean you uh...Imean...uh...good? Good. Good? Good.” It seemed someone misplaced the record in Tomoko’s brain, as it was skipping.

“You’re GOOD. FIne! Gorgeous even! An attractive drink! Nice tall glass of somethingorother!”

Honestly I should probably start running now that I’ve embarrassed myself this much.

The look on her face when she went to speak back told him more than he ever needed to know bout her. At least for his assumptions he was guessing she was a mighty people shy gal based on her stuttering. Her clothes were foreign as well. Then the name was heard and he knew they had to be a foreigner. An easy to recruit and influence chance right in front of him.

A wide smile on the man’s face as he finally took note of her pokemon. “Those mons o yours are beauts. Me own are their own kinda lovely. Me ol’ frien’ battie an ‘enrietta like new people, they’d love to see ya! 'ope ya don’ mind.” He mused openly, tossing down two of his pokeballs and in turn, an abnormally large houndoom and an average size crobat came out, one trotting over to his side while the bat fluttered around Tomoko to observe her.

“Tomoko ay? Lovely name, what region ya from? Either way, welcome to sinnoh, biggest region inna world!” His voice took no breaks as he bombarded to her questions, until that sudden stop as he awaited an answer finally. His eyes locked to hers and staring a small bit.

“I...i...”

So many things, happening so fast, in such an unfamiliar way. Unfamiliar person, unfamiliar speaking style, unfamiliar large pokemon!!! Was this a battle!? She’d only heard of how they worked, and judging by how big these things were...there was no way she’d come out of here unscathed if so!

But he didn’t seem, particularly aggressive, so...

The Golbat hovering around her kind of freaked her out a little, her head swiveling to and fro, not wanting to take her eyes off of it until she swirled back to look at...whoever this was, again?

“Wuh...uh...I-i’m from...Johto...d-did ya just say...I’m in Sinnoh now!?”

“S-so forward!” It almost sounds too good to be true!

Brushing up on her leg was already traipsing towards blush territory, but saying something as brazen as calling her cute out loud? And out of nowhere!?

Tomoko froze as she was about to pop the game into the PS3, dropping the disc in without properly seating it.

“U-u-uh………….y-you think…i-i-i’m…h-huh?”

“huh? Cute? Yeah! You’re super cute! The bags under your eyes, the thinness of your arms and body, the way you hide yourself by slouching. It’s just all so cute. Your hair is a brilliant shade of black and your lips look soft and kissable” he was simply being nice if not a little flirtatious

Tomoko is now overloaded with compliments. 

She didn’t think she’d heard so many of them, in such a small amount of time…ever.

Stumbling a little, she missed the PS3 slot, needing a couple more tries before popping Rayman Legends into the console. She…seemed to flop on the floor for a moment, curl into a ball, her face red as a tomato…then uncurl, giving a sigh of contentment, twitched a little, and suddenly jutted back up into a sitting position.

This was…a mummy boy? Who said this? What? What? What? What?

And down she goes again, laying on her back.

She stared into the abyss, and soon it glew a mighty bright blue, eyes appearing in the center staring at her back for a few moments before a voice and two arms came out of the circle. “Uhh…little help….the uh..person didnt do it right..so only half of me is comin through..” a semi deep, late teens to young adult like voice spoke in inquisitive tone as blue orbs from the center of the drawing awaited answer.

“WAH!!!”

Tomoko was so startled that she fell backwards on her rear.

Holy shit! It was REAL!? How’s that even possible!?

…and now they were stuck in there??? What in the…maybe he’s hot! If you’re the savior of some hot guy, it’ll be the perfect in for you! This could even be your future boyfriend, best case scenario!

Scrambling back up, Tomoko went to try and yank one of their arms up with all of her (small) might!

 “I gotchaaaaaa!!!”

The small might pulled and slowly more of a top half became apparent, a male’s head popping through along with his elbows and part of his torso. A dark black hair and pale skinned boy with an undeniable case of Pretty Boy Syndrome™ coming to view. Soon the head staring at the ground and slowly pulling the rest of himself out using the elbows as a prop up point.”Thank you very much ma’am.” he spoke, as almost the rest of him was out, flashing a smile her way.

The final parts of the man’s form coming out, a lean but not muscular figure and somewhat tall, standing at around 6′. He was wearing an ugly tracksuit but a decent scarf. He also had a patch on the tracksuit in the shape of…an anime character. Specifically, Camilla from Fire Emblem Fates. “Right you’re probably a bit confused… i’m a doppelganger..also known as a shapeshifter. Someone tried to summon me but stopped half way. I woulda been stuck there for ages if you didn’t show up. Name’s Jiko. Jiko Ai, with the kanji for narcissism, and yours?” Wait, he was actually trying to have conversation with her? Indeed he was.

“Ji...ko...”

Tomoko gave a small look back and forth, trying for any way out of this situation. Why did she always get distracted? It was so dumb!

“Oh g-geez, really? T-t-then I guess…’scuse the intrusion, eheh.”

Tomoko entered the shrine into the main area, taking off her shoes along the way as was customary. Awkward and clumsy, Tomoko didn’t really know how to make conversation well.

“…this place…u-uh, ‘s pretty big. Nice, too.”

“Thank you. If there’s anything you need, just let me know.” She bowed to Tomoko and head off to the kitchen, returning with a fresh cup of tea for her visitor. “Do tell, how did you find this place?”

“Um.”

It was a little embarrassing to admit. 

“I…uh…”

She scrambled to find some sort of excuse, but to no avail.

“…”

Tomoko’s eyes couldn’t help but widen.

Tomoko shifted slightly away, putting her knees up and wrapping her arms around her legs, effectively curling into a ball against the tree.

“…no, it’s n-not bad…”

The white Vulpix was basically trotting back and forth between Tomoko and the black furred Furfrou, who remained lax.

“Maybe we can start off with some introduction.” He says sitting down at the wall across from her to try and seem less intimidating. “I’m Hachiro, and you?” He asked trying to break the ice with the girl.

“…”

The girl took a couple of deep breaths, trying to calm down. If something like this little thing was supposed to get her to drop her guard, he was in for a rude awakening. This could all still be a ruse! Hell, they could be trying to steal her pokemon!

…but…they seemed…mmmm…not…bad.

“…Tomoko.”

“Alright Tomoko, It’s nice to meet you.” He says as he nods. It wasn’t long after that it had started to drizzle which quickly seemed to turn to rain. “Oh shoot, its starting to rain, and i only have one umbrella.” He says as he started to rummage through his bag before he opens up an umbrella and goes to hand it to Tomoko. “You want to head to the local pokemon center? We can wait there till the rain stops.” He says as he offered to lead her there.

“…”

At the very least, in a pokemon center, if he tried anything, he’d be caught.

“O-okay…”

As Tomoko was led into the pokemon center, she couldn’t help but blink a little. Did she give off the impression that she was a trainer at all? She didn’t even know what she wanted to be, other than away from Johto.

A calm smile upon the man’s face as he approached the woman from behind, giving a light tap to their shoulder to get their attention. They weren’t new to hearthome city by any means, but they still couldn’t help but offer guidance to those who looked lost or scared, and boy, did the woman in front of him look like a prime example of BOTH. 

“Excuse me. Are ya ok?” Quiet words at first so he wouldn’t startle them too much…hopefully. “Ahvin trouble gettin’ round here? Ah can guide ya to tha major sites if ya need me ta.” Each word was picked up in tone a small bit more now, a slight jolly tune to their voice, mixed with almost thuggish gangster like dialect. It was a distinctly feminine voice pairing well with their feminine appearance, but not well with their manner of speaking. “Me name is Lufine by the by. Ah’m from Veilstone to tha’ east.”

Lost and scared would be the exact way to describe Tomoko’s predicament now. Then again, it had been months since she hadn’t felt that way.

She’d been walking and traveling so long that she didn’t even know where she was anymore. She’d found her way on multiple boats, but no one really approached her. Was she just that sneaky? Was she just so unpopular that she was invisible to others’ perceptions? Did she just blend in the background? Or were people scared of her, creeped out by her presence to the point where they thought it best to just not approach?

Often times she was just...there. Not really taking or giving, never interacting or being interacted with. Just...somewhere in the corner, behind a wall, in a stall, or in the background. Lands started to become a blur to her.

The only things that she could talk to were her white Vulpix and black Furfrou. And even then, she didn’t really understand them at all. It was more like talking at them than to them. They followed her wherever she went - the Vulpix was far more shy and tended to stay directly behind her, while the Furfrou didn’t really seem to care much, traveling at her side.

So, for the first time in months, she was...being approached. Interacted with. For a few moments, she just stared, wide-eyed, dumbfounded, not even sure what in the hell to do or how in the hell to respond.

“.......”

Someone actually bothered to talk to her? How long had it even been?

“...n-name’s Tomoko.”

She didn’t even think about it, but...she had no idea where she even was anymore. She’d been living off of stray berries for a while now, just...wandering. It was like she’d been slightly snapped out of a daze.

“...u-uh...where...wha...sure...”
