people never discuss this but i think jackie's death would have been really traumatizing for travis. imagine you lose your virginity to a girl after she gives a suicidal nihilistic monologue about how life is pointless and then immediately afterwards you start getting shroom hallucinations and then most of the other girls you know bust down the door and attack both of you and lock her in a closet and try to rape you and you escape but then they catch you and tie you up and try to kill you and you are only saved because your not-gf and the girl you lost your virginity to show up at the last moment. and the next day you find out your brother went missing during all this so you go look for him with your not-gf and break down crying about what happened to you but you can't find him and it's dark and cold so you go back to the cabin where all the girls who tried to rape and kill you live. and then in the morning the girl you lost your virginity to is found dead outside in the snow and you find out she was outside to begin with because the group shunned her for getting mad at them for what they did to you. like. it's no wonder he shut down and folded himself into the group so completely. what else could he possibly do after that

the most humbling tv watching experience i've ever had was when i was watching riverdale 4x08 "in treatment" and guidance counselor gina torres said jughead was "chasing windmills" and i was like :/ it's TILTING at windmills but ok and then 30 seconds later jughead said I'm not going to be psychoanalyzed by someone who doesn't know the phrase tilting at windmills. the mortifying ordeal of being known by jughead
