hello, it is me, the problematic 2000

If you ever needed a good demonstration of the quote "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", have I got an exercise for you.

Somebody made a small article explaining the basics of atomic theory but it's written in Anglish. Anglish is basically a made-up version of English where they remove any elements (words, prefixes, etc) that were originally borrowed from romance languages like french and latin, as well as greek and other foreign loanwords, keeping only those of germanic origin.

What happens is an english which is for the most part intelligible, but since a lot everyday english, and especially the scientific vocabulary, has has heavy latin and greek influence, they have to make up new words from the existing germanic-english vocabulary. For me it kind of reads super viking-ey.

Anyway when you read this article on atomic theory, in Anglish called Uncleftish Beholding, you get this text which kind of reads like a fantasy novel. Like in my mind it feels like it recontextualizes advanced scientific concepts to explain it to a viking audience from ancient times.

Even though you're familiar with the scientific ideas, because it bypasses the normal language we use for these concepts, you get a chance to examine these ideas as if you were a visitor from another civilization - and guess what, it does feel like it's about magic. It has a mythical quality to it, like it feels like a book about magic written during viking times. For me this has the same vibe as reading deep magic lore from a Robert Jordan book.

We need about $675 for beds, mattresses, sheets, blankets, pillows, all the shit to make this a proper home that's livable. We'll be able to afford everything else (groceries, bills, etc), we just have a super urgent need for the aforementioned things. After that, we will have finally gotten a place and made it a home.

If you can spare anything towards these necessities, please consider doing so. You can send it to my PayPal, which has been secured against the recent hacker and though my card is canceled so they can't use it, I can still access my account and withdraw whatever comes in as it does to Kalen's bank account, so it's safe and available for our use (instead of stolen).

Once we have these, most of our needs will have been met and I can shut the fuck up about it and pay it forward when I can.

Even if it's $5, every dollar helps so much more than you know. And anyone who has ever had to buy furniture knows how expensive this shit is. 😭 I hate that this is the society we live in, but the revolution will come in time. Then we feast on the rich rich.

These last couple of months have been really rough mental health-wise, and honestly I'm still going through a lot of shit, but if my brain is gonna electrocute itself and jolt me awake, I at least need it to be in a bed that's my own and I can fall asleep quickly in (sleep is hard to come by, maintain, etc.)

I cannot stress enough how bad this current bed situation is. This singular tiny cot came with the apartment, and it's nigh-identical to the ones in the insane asylum, barring it not being bolted down.

It is tiny. Two people fit like sardines, very uncomfortably. The blankets that came with the cot is way too small for both of us to share, meaning one of us usually gives up fighting for it during the night and just opts to freeze in this room instead. It is very unpleasant.

Both our physical and mental, not to mention emotional, health will SKYROCKET once we get our own separate beds, mattresses, blankets, pillows, sheets, etc.

We were banking on the delivery of a check that was supposed to be hand delivered to us by the transitional company meant to facilitate our relocation, and now they're literally just dodging calls and no longer even pretending to give a timeline for when to expect it.

This has screwed us over severely, since our phone/internet bill is due in like 5 days and is $200 total (first month, activation fees, prorated start, etc). We would've been able to pay that no problem, and every month after, but that relocation company refuses to answer our calls, leaving us in the lurch for the final time (since we won't ever have to interact with them again once business is concluded by providing us with that outstanding check).

That check was also what we planned to use for furniture/beds and mattresses, etc, but because they're just fucking around with us and seemingly have no intention to actually hold up their end of the transaction, we are simply ... fucked.

This is why I am asking, for what I keep saying is and what I really do intend to be, the final hurdle. We need to pay the internet/phone ($200) so that we can start off our relationship with AT&T not in the shitter and defaulting on the very first bill, and furniture. A blender. A toaster. Literally just essential stuff.

My brother recently started sending me a couple hundred a month, which is enough to take care of groceries or the phone/internet bill. However, it's taking a toll on him and he already has to provide for the rest of the family, so I don't want to be the reason he (or anyone else) goes into the red often just to help me.

We're okay on food, but that means we're at $0 now for the bills + furniture. We should be able to self-sustain once we've survived this initial/starting hurdle, and it should be smooth sailing from there on.

If just 35 people sent $20 each, we'd be golden and solid and finally, mercifully okay. We'll be in an even better position when that check finally is given to us instead of the run around, but that plan is scuppered beyond my control.

I'm gonna have to boost this a lot, so I'm very sorry if you grow tired of me and understand if you have to unfollow/block me. I won't hold it against you.

But once we get this last fucking Rubicon crossed, it'll be back to your regularly scheduled stupidity, courtesy of yours truly!
