Losing the bet was embarrassing.
Being spanked for it was embarrassing.
But whoever had invented the ten minute "time-out period" in the winner's shared kitchen was a complete genius.
They had made the bet after several drinks, loudly insisting that two fourth-years could not possibly lose to two second-years.
The next morning they had to report to the victors' house in matching pyjamas, accept the agreed forfeit spankings, and then, to their embarrassed surprise, were placed in a "time out" and instructed to remain exactly where they'd been left until the timer went off.
Every time they heard footsteps they thought,

The victors happened to share the house with four other students, all in their first or second year. And apparently everyone had suddenly decided it was the perfect time to make breakfast.
One wandered in for cereal.
Another came looking for coffee.
Then a first-year stopped in the doorway.
"Oh my God... they really had to take the spanking over just their panties?"
"It was in the terms," one of the victors replied, without looking up from making tea.
The first-year wandered around the island until she could see the pair's bright red faces.
"And they actually agreed to this?"
The victor finally glanced over.
"Actually..." she smiled. "They suggested it."
"They were very confident."
The first-year tried not to giggle.
She picked up an apple from the fruit bowl.
Neither of them had ever hated the word girls more.
