My beautiful children ❤️
I loveee this movie so much so had to do some art for it!! Probably the biggest drawing I’ve ever done and I’m so happy with it. might have to do some more posters like it
@hanakagari
He probably meant “from within the clan”?? A shinki was blighted, but they found a way to hide it from everyone (just like Kugaha did in Aiha’s case). And since they wasn’t sincere during the ablution, it didn’t work on them. Or so I believe.
i’m not so sure about that…
Hmm.. I assume you were talking about this panel?
The official translation is quite different. I checked the Japanese version too:
Seems like the official version is correct. 亜種 means “subspecies.” The blight was a different type, a sub-type of blights. It didn’t come from one specific shinki but from the clan as a whole, with them being suspicious of and attacking each other. They were not thinking of their God but selfishly trying to protect themselves from being accused of causing the blight. I’ve always felt like that the old guide is to blame….
She was the one setting the tone for the clan and causing the fear and paranoia among the shinki she was supposed to be guiding. She treated them unfairly and also seemed jealous and suspicious of Kazuma, and yet her self-righteousness prevented her from seeing her own flaws. When push came to shove, she chose to protect herself, not her god. She wouldn’t even come near the blighted Bisha. Kazuma, on the other hand, was willing to risk his life to save her. That’s why it’s so interesting to see Kazuma blaming himself for blighting Bisha. I think there is a lot of guilt there .. he knew he was being selfish when he went against Heaven to save Bisha. He wasn’t thinking about what was best for Bishamon, the warrior god who bears the wishes of her worshipers, but Veena, the woman he loves and wants to protect at all cost. He felt like he acted wrongly because he wasn’t fulfilling his duties as her guide but his own desire to keep her safe. That has always been one of the central conflicts of the series - personal happiness vs duties as a god or shinki.
God, I miss Noragami.
i’m… still confused
“ It didn’t come from one specific shinki but from the clan as a whole, with them being suspicious of and attacking each other. “
but they started being suspicious of and attacking each other after the blight had spread, right? where did it came from, at first? unless you mean everyone fearing the original guidepost was exactly that source of blight? (i’m not a native english speaker, sorry)
i mean, i always thought it was the tiger guidepost blighting her and throwing the blame on touma, but i’m second guessing now
I got the impression that the clan didn’t really get along that well under the guidance of the old guide, even before the blight happened. There might have been a lot of jealousy and resentment already? But you could also be right .. if anyone, I felt like it would most likely be originated from her. She seemed to care more about her position than the wellbeing of Bisha, but to be honest, I don’t think we know how the blight thing works really .. it seems like it’s mostly about guilt? But the old guide doesn’t seem like the type who would feel guilty about her actions. She seems really self-righteous .. just like how Kazuma could be sometimes. Either way, your theory is definitely possible. The blight could have started from her and gotten worse after all the ablutions they performed on each other.

OK i need to talk to yall.
as a fan translator i’ve been incredibly lucky to translate for lots of lovely folks who are very patient and respectful. however this isn’t the situation for everyone. someone i work with has spent vast amounts of their own time and money to bring their readers lots of amazing content on the one condition that they only read it on their website and not upload it to for-profit aggregate sites like myreadingmanga because they respect the authors and the publishers. however, without fail, every couple weeks, some self righteous asshole who thinks they have the right to share that content decides to take advantage of my friend’s hard work and breaks the ONE rule they have for their work. they don’t ask for donations, they spend so much time on this. every time this happens they’re devastated and depressed. right now they were considering stopping altogether. luckily for yall, they decided not to, even though they would have been completely justified in doing so.
you are not entitled to the work fan translators do. just because we’re not official doesn’t mean we don’t deserve respect. we’re doing this for free. for you readers. we don’t need to fucking do this. we have no responsibility to you readers. we choose to use our own time, our own money to bring you everything you’re reading, to share this with you.
please please please. don’t support for-profit aggregate sites. respect the people who do this for you. follow the conditions we set for readers. it’s not like we’re asking you to pay us per chapter or to jump through hoops. yeah sure it’s easier to just go to one site for all your manga needs. fine. i realize that. however, i think you can handle a little bit of inconvenience if you respect the work that’s being done. having to click through a couple bookmarks isn’t the end of the world.
I am seriously so sad at the lack of Ebisu fanart/edits or anything, please love Ebisu too! why won’t people love this child of mine…
