No, what we’re supposed to be doing is using energy to its fullest, to keep accelerating this world, this universe, towards its end. And yeah, environmental protection? That’s part of it too. If humans wipe ourselves out, we’d actually slow down the rise of entropy. So it’s our job to protect the environment while keeping the energy flowing—that’s the deal.

Now, if you think about it, the odds of life being born on Earth are astronomical. It’s basically a miracle, nothing short of that. The fact that we’re alive right now, after countless coincidences, is a freakin’ miracle. Think about all the wars, all the disasters, all the deaths, and yet here we are, still standing. そしてさ、そもそも地球に生命が誕生する確率ってのを考えたら、もう頭がぶっ飛ぶほどの数字なんだよ。奇跡以外の何物でもねぇ。俺たちが今こうして生きてること自体、無数の偶然が重なり合ってできた超レアな存在なんだよ。過去の戦争や災害、無数の死があったにもかかわらず、俺たちはその全てを超えて今ここにいる。まじで考えてみろ、何代も何世代も前から続いてきた生命の連鎖を。これを奇跡と呼ばずして、何を奇跡と呼ぶんだって話だよ。
