Rami couldnât say anything but to stare at the stranger in shock. Her eyes widen as she stared at her with her large doe eyes. She was about to apologize for waking her up by creating such a commotion but the stranger in front of her didnât give her a chance to. She shook her head and lowered her head a little in embarrassment, ân-no, youâve mistaken. i-iâm not the new librarian!â she responded quickly while shaking her head aggressively. Never in her life would she thought someone would have mistaken her as a librarian. She always thought she had the look of an athlete but apparently, she thought wrong. She shook the thought out of her head and turned her attention back to the girl in front of her. What took her by surprise the most was the girlâs outspoken personality. The things she said threw her off guard and she let out an amused smile. âYeah, youâre pretty good at that,â she chuckled. However, upon hearing that the stranger wanted a favour from her, she got curious. âWhat do you need me to do?â she leaned closer a little and asked.
âWill you take photos of me?â Sera asked, the smile on her face widening following the request. âDo you know what Instagram is? Do you have an account? Ah, of course you have one, youâre really so pretty! You probably post pictures all the time, right?â Brown eyes remained fixed on the other as she dug her phone out of her back pocket, using her thumb to routinely punch in the pass code. âAnyway, since Iâm transferring to university, Iâm going to finally open my own Instagram account--- technically I already have one, but I really never use it.... Itâs so old now. Iâm just going to create a new account, and this one is going to be very pretty! Have you seen any popular Instagram accounts?â She asked, opening the camera app on her phone, shoving the compact device into the othersâ hands. âTheyâre really so pretty, right? Ah, they have so many followers too... I want an account with a beautiful feed and also lots of followers like them, so I have to take a lot of pictures and post only the prettiest ones! Thatâs why I need you to take pictures of me. You can do that, right?â Turning on her heels, Sera put a bit of distance between herself and the girl, posing against a nearby bookshelf. âReally, itâs so easy. Just take lots of pictures of me looking pretty, and Iâll help you clean the mess. Ah, Iâll even buy you lots of delicious foods! Have you eaten yet? Are you hungry? Please build up a nice appetite.â
granted she hadnât focus on who was near her, or if they had talked to her but she still spoke up. paranoia creeping into her. âlet me run more.â she spoke, breathless. this wasnât healthy but the girl was stressed over a letter her mom sent, not that anyone knew about that. but after neglecting her track routine she was trying to get back to where she usually was. dancing made her fit but she went over her time, doing extra laps. but even now she didnât want to stop. and at the sight of someone, she wondered if they came to use the field or to stop her.Â
with the new school year right around the corner, sera was more than happy that she had dropped her position as a cheerleader. the members on the squad were nice, sure, but she still found the process grueling. it took way too much effort on her part --- struggling to memorize routines, practicing longer to eliminate her klutzy performances, pre-practice warm-upâs. she especially hated those. why did they need added exercise on top of already-strenuous rehearsals? in her opinion, they just made the experience ten times worse. she wasnât an exercise enthusiast, and the constant aching of her body parts made that perfectly clear. but maybe track wasnât so bad. all you had to do was race around the track, right? she was a fast runner, after all, so how hard could that be? keeping her hands hidden in the pockets of her coat, sera entered the field, immediately jogging towards the only other person there. sheâd been watching the other for a few minutes, and the way they ran without stopping made the activity seem almost too easy. âhey!!â sera called out, coming up beside her. âyouâre on the track team, right? are you practicing? where is everyone else? do you always practice by yourself? how long have you been running out here? youâre not out of breath yet? ah, itâs really so cold, right? are you cold? do you like cold weather like this?â
It was late at night and the school was deserted. Since her tests were coming, they only perfect place in school to study was the library. And luckily, it was rarely in use and she only chose to go there when she was sure that there was no one there, which was late in the evening. She headed to her favourite quiet corner in the library and threw out all her materials. She looked around and besides the librarian and her, she didnât see any other students. Just as she was about to start, she heard a soft snore coming from somewhere near her spot. Being the curious person she was, she followed where the snore was coming from and found a stranger lying against one of the bookshelves, far back into the library. She debated with herself whether to wake the person up or not, but in the end she chose to walk away. On her way back to her seat, she accidentally knocked into one of the book stands causing everything to topple over. âOh crap,â she muttered, hoping she didnât wake the stranger up with the commotion she caused.
Sera usually wasnât the type of person to fall asleep in such a public place. Although she had dozed off in class maybe once or twice, the idea of sleeping in public made her uneasy --- mostly because she sometimes drooled, and she imagined the sight was less than appealing. Still, she couldnât help herself today. Sheâd spent the last few weeks studying diligently for exams, and between that and her attempts to socialize with people around campus, she was left exhausted. Light reading in the library seemed like a good way to relax (and be productive at the same time), yet there she was, sitting with her back pressed against a bookshelf, head resting on a bulky slab of rigid material. Definitely asleep and paying no mind to the open book in her lap. It probably wouldâve remained that way, had she not been waken up by the sound of things crashing to the ground. She jolted awake immediately, sitting upright and looking into her book as if sheâd been reading all along. Once she realized someone was standing towards the end of the aisle, she glanced over at them, making a correlation between them and the books on the floor. â--- Are you okay?â She said in a quiet voice, lifting herself off of the floor and approaching the other with a curious expression written across her features. âDo you work here in the library? Is it your first day? Ah, you must be so nervous, right? You really made such a mess. You should be more careful, especially with making noise... It disrupts peopleâs study time. Did you see me studying? Iâm really so good, right? I know.â She stated with a nod, inspecting all of the books on the floor. âDo you need help to clean this up? Ah, Iâll help you! But first, will you do me a favor?â
1. What does this characterâs voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Not high-pitched (unless sheâs excited), but not deep either. Iâd say itâs somewhere in the middle.
2. How do they normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Do they talk easily, or do they hesitate?
Same as the first answer, Iâd say sheâs somewhere in the middle. Sheâs not the loudest, but she definitely isnât the quietest either. She has a tendency to ramble incessantly (meaning she talks a lot) and she does it rather quickly, so itâs not uncommon for people to ask her to repeat herself.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
She doesnât have a distinct accent or dialect, as she uses the standard Korean dialect. If you talk to her, youâll notice she has certain things sheâll say a lot. These include: ah, really so, right, you donât look (constant emphasis on the word look), cool (usually paired with really so). So, hereâs an example:Â âYouâre an actress? You donât look like an actress. Have you ever worked on a film with Leonardo Dicaprio? Ah, thatâs really so cool! Heâs so handsome, right? Is he nice?â
4. What language(s) do they speak, and with how much fluency?
Korean is the only language that Sera is considered fluent in. She can speak basic English, but itâs not enough to hold a conversation and stands at the level of a two or three year old. The same would go for Spanish, but sheâs not even at a basic level. Unlike English, she never tried to learn Spanish, she just took a liking to its music. She can probably sing along to certain songs, though she wonât understand what sheâs saying. Definitely doesnât know the basics either, aside from the universal term, hola.
5. Do they switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
No, but if she finds out you speak English, sheâd probably try to speak it mid-conversation.
6. Are they a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
Sera runs off at the mouth, so sheâs a pretty good impromptu speaker. However, not thinking before you speak can be an issue, so itâs not rare for her to say something and take it back.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Are they book-smart or street-smart?
Book-smart. Sera is much too naive and inexperienced to ever be considered street-smart, but when it comes to academics and out-of-the-book knowledge, she thoroughly enjoys learning, and so she manages well. Iâd say she has fairly high marks, aside from math related classes, where the highest grade sheâd ever get is a B.
2. Do they think on their feet, or do they need time to deliberate?
A mix of both, although sheâs more prone to thinking on her feet.
3. Describe the characterâs thought process. Are they more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Iâd like to think sheâs more of the logical type. Or at least, she tries to be.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
Sheâs been attending top-notch schools ever since she was a child, therefore was brought up to receive a quality education and nothing less. Sheâs currently at third year student at Mokwon, and is preparing to transition into its University division.
5. What are their areas of expertise? What, if anything, are they interested in learning more about?
Arts and crafts. Sheâd never pursue it as a career, as itâs just fun side-hobby but sheâs especially good at creating things out of nothing and putting them to good use.Â
6. Are they an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert. Sera is energized by interacting with friends and strangers alike, and usually prefers more stimulating environments that give her frequent opportunities to see and speak with others.
7. Describe the characterâs temperament. Are they even-tempered or do they have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Sera is an overall cheerful person. Sheâs nice to everyone, and isnât the slightest bit aggressive or confrontational, so if youâre mean to her, she usually tries to brush it off. Sheâs also very âout thereâ and is always asking questions and exploring around outside, so.
8. How do they respond to new people or situations? Are they suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Iâd say new people/situations mostly spark her curiosity. Itâs why sheâs so drawn to them.
9. Are they more likely to act, or to react?
Depends on the situation, honestly.
10. Which is their default: fight or flight?
Flight.
11. Describe the characterâs sense of humor. Do they appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Sera has an interesting sense of humor. Jokes often confuse her, pranks that hurt people donât sit well with her, and she doesnât quite understand (or care for) the concept of dark humor - but she does get a common laugh out of childish things.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how do they deal with them?
Nope.
13. What moments in this characterâs life have defined them as a person?
Her entire childhood pretty much shaped her into who she is today, so I guess that.
14. What do they fear?
Never amounting to anything, probably.
15. What are their hopes or aspirations?
By this point time, I think everyone knows that Sera is more than desperate for popularity. Sheâs out for everyoneâs praise and approval, but beyond that, she wants to get into acting. The idea of fictional story-telling is interesting to her, and while sheâs not particularly good at acting (seeing as sheâs far too dramatic), she still enjoys it and wishes to someday land the lead role in a TV program or mega-theater film.
16. What is something they donât want anyone to find out about them?
Eh, her brother, maybe? She brings him up a lot, usually to insult or make fun of him, but she usually never mentions in name, in fear that people will start using her for her relation to an idol.
Relationships
1. Describe this characterâs relationship with their parents.
Sera has a semi-distant relationship with her parents, but sheâs a lot closer to her father than she is to her mother. Growing up, neither party was negligent in the sense that they both looked after her and provided basic necessities, but thatâs as far as it went. They were never the affectionate type, and most of their attention went to their eldest child, which made pleasing them impossible. Still, sheâs very obedient and doesnât hate either of them (she could never), but their relationship could use some improvement.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Sera has an older brother named Ilhoon, and although heâs never treated her poorly, they donât have a great relationship. Sheâs really resentful towards him and it all started with him being an over-achiever. According to an actual study, firstborn children tend to be achievement-oriented, often performing well in school and thriving in leadership positions, and that was pretty much Ilhoon growing up. He did almost everything, and that was the problem. He would accomplish something, their parents would be thrilled about it, Sera would do the exact same thing sometime down the road, and suddenly her parents wouldnât bat an eyelash at it because, well, her brother already did it. Obviously he got an advantage because he was older than her, and if that wasnât bad enough, everyone in their neighborhood seemed to favor him, always going on and on about how great and smart and likable he was, whereas Sera got the short end of the stick. The entire ordeal eventually turned into a competition, with Sera always attempting (and failing) to do things first or better than him, and the situation worsened altogether when Ilhoon became an idol. Now she canât stand him, and she just slanders his name whenever she gets the opportunity.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom they are close? Are there ones they canât stand?
She has an extensive family, but the only relatives she could be considered âclose toâ are the ones who currently attend Mokwon. Otherwise, sheâs pretty distant from the rest of her family as well, but that has less to do with her and more to do with her parentsâ superiority complex. They pretty much isolated themselves from everyone else.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom they consider part of their family? What are their relationships with them?
Not really, but thatâs not so much of a bad thing, seeing as Sera isnât too family-oriented and doesnât believe in the whole âblood is thicker than waterâ thing.
5. Do they make friends easily, or do they have trouble getting along with people?
Not everyone enjoys her presence due to her overly talkative nature, but still, she finds it easy to get along with others. Definitely the former option.
6. Which do they consider more important: family or friends?
As a result of her upbringing, sheâs not really family-oriented, so friends matter more to her.
7. What do they look for in a romantic partner?
Sera has never been in a relationship, so I donât feel like sheâd look for anything in specific. Her standards are low (almost nonexistent if I must say so myself), therefore if youâre cute and you give her attention, thatâs good enough.
8. What is the characterâs sexual orientation?
Sera has never acknowledged her sexual orientation, but regardless, sheâs pansexual (meaning not limited in choice with regards to biological sex, gender, or gender identity).
9. How do they feel about sex? How important is it to them?
Not important at all. She tends to shy away from the topic itself, and in her mind, sex is just an intimate process for reproducing, so she doesnât care for it. Also, Iâd like to bring this post to light.
Daily Life
1. What is the characterâs financial situation? Are they rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
She comes from a wealthy background, but sheâs not spoiled and she doesnât recklessly spend any of the money sheâs given. Iâd say sheâs comfortable.
2. What is their social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected them?
Sera is considered an outcast around campus, and has been since her very first day. I donât think thatâs changed much, but sheâs probably known more as the girl that talks too much - which is honestly better than nothing.
3. Where do they live? House, apartment, trailer? Is their home their castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Do they share it with others?
Sera lives on campus, her suite is her home and the place that she feels most comfortable. Her actual home is two hours away in Suwon, and although itâs luxurious, itâs not a place that Sera prefers to spend her time. Sheâs rarely there and likes to keep as far away as possible.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what do they spend their money on?
Sera isnât a big spender and prefers to save her money for when sheâll actually need it, but still, sheâll sometimes splurge on art supplies (because, yanno, sheâs crafty). In addition, Sera is a lot more likely to spend on other people, as opposed to herself. Sheâs the go-to girl if you want a cup of coffee, but donât want to buy it yourself.
5. What are their interests or hobbies? How do they spend their free time?
YouTube! Sera has a YouTube channel, where she posts all kinds of vlogs and cute DIY videos, like this and this. She has a lot of time on her hands, so working on crafty projects is her thing, and sheâs good at them - hence the YouTube channel. Sheâs also interested in acting, which is why sheâs in the drama club.Â
6. What are their eating habits? Do they skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
She eats a standard three meals a day, as per her motherâs request, and tries to avoid snacks in between (though sheâs a sucker for sweet candy). Thatâs about it, really, thereâs nothing thatâs too  interesting about her eating habits. Definitely no alcohol involved, as she usually dines inside of the cafeteria.

Doesnât have a favorite in particular, but she likes light, pastel colors like so.
2. Smell?Â
Cinnamon and vanilla, be it mixed or separate. Most of her her homemade fragrances smell like this.

Spring.

âprobably. i wouldnât blame them,â sage responds, laughter evident in her voice. after all, doesnât everyone have their exclusive gatherings where they make fun of everyone else, whether theyâre aware of it or not? âi think getting made fun of is just a part of life⌠you have to take it with stride, or something like that. well, their blood feasting parties are probably great bonding, just like humans have potlucksâ we just think of it as bad since theyâre feasting off us.â she snickers again. typical human nature, fear everything without knowing the real details behind it. ânah, i think vampires still need blood. thatâs kind of their whole thing. but maybe twilight was onto something, and they can just feast off animal blood. i think that all the names are the right namesâ but maybe they have their own terms for it, so no oneâs really wrong. like how a certain word has a different meaning in each language⌠but itâs still the same word at the end of the day. something like that, maybe.â sage shrugs as she speaks, glancing down to get a better look at the high schooler. âyou could totally be a fairy! youâre all small and cute and adorable, i could see it. like tinkerbell⌠yeah. she was a smart little thing, i can see it. but i think all the actors are just actors. everythingâs a little too normal in the world for them to secretly be mutants. can you imagine the government scandal if that gets found out?â she fakes a gasp, pressing her hands to her cheeks in a somewhat exaggerated manner. âat our school? i dunnoâŚ. theyâve been keeping themselves pretty well hidden, i think. but thereâs this math professor⌠she might be a vampire. she wonât take a picture for the yearbook or the school paper. maybe because she wonât show up in them?â
âbut isnât it mean to make fun of people? i donât like getting made fun of. do you like getting made fun of? ah, does anyone even make fun of you? youâre really so pretty, so probably not, right? plus, since youâre a mermaid, it doesnât matter. you can just smack someone with your tail --- except that might really hurt, and you could get in trouble, so i donât think you should do that.â she warned,  the solemn expression on her face reflecting her words of advice. when sage made a comment about vampires bonding over blood-feasting parties, sera shifted uncomfortably in her seat, lips pressed together as she thought about it. maybe the other had a point, though. the idea of vampires feeding off of humans seemed a bit horrendous, yet somehow, the idea of them feeding off of animals didnât seem so bad. in fact, it seemed like the better option. âah... this is really such a scary topic,â she shifted once more, âdo you think vampires could be nice and not so scary? why would they steal blood from people who havenât done wrong? why not just take it from bad people? what would you do if you were a vampire? you wouldnât feed off of me, right? ah, blood doesnât even taste good, anyway! it tastes really bad, like metal.â she fell silent, eyes widening at her own comment. â--- i only know that because sometimes i hurt myself while making stuff, iâm not a vampire. i donât even look like a vampire, right? iâm only a human. but i should really be a fairy, so iâm going to buy a costume--- ah, what am i saying... i could make one! should i make you a mermaid costume? but you probably wonât need it, right? instead iâll just make you the top!â she reached for her pencil, eyes focusing on the notebook in front of her as she begun drawing her own depiction of what a mermaid top should look like. âhave you tried taking a picture of her yourself? what happens if she really is a vampire?â the girl asked, pausing the sketch as she looked back at sage with a worried look on her face. âisnât it scary that we might go to school with vampires and weâll probably never know?â
She shrugged. âI guess I couldâve been reckless and messed around if I wanted to, my parents wouldnât have stopped me, but I wasnât really into that as a child.â Jisoo couldnât help but laugh a little. âYou can definitely ask how old I am. Iâm pretty sure women only get pissy about that when theyâre over thirty. Luckily for you, Iâm only twenty, so I donât have a problem with it.â She nodded. âIâm the oldest, but that isnât doesnât feel like much when itâs just me and my little sister. I like it. I mean, weâre close so that helps. If you want we can trade siblings, but just for a little bit. Iâve never had a brother before so Iâd love to see what itâs like, but Iâd need my sister back over a little bit.â Jisoo didnât mention the stress that came with her sister. The stress that she would never be able to make enough money to support her, that she couldnât be the older sister she needed. Still, she wouldnât give up her sister for the world, no matter how many concerns came with her. Jisoo looked up, thinking for a moment, before giving a small nod. âI suppose it is pretty fun, but not because of the trip, and more because I like playing the sport. It would be fun whether for me whether we were playing here or at another school. So I guess it doesnât really count as a field trip.â Jisoo grinned. âYou donât have to worry about that. I like art, but Iâm not particularly good at design or anything, so youâre completely in charge of poster design. I can help by getting people together to help protest. The sports teams love having something to fight about, so I can get a bunch of them on board if we need them.â Jisoo held in her laugh when the high schooler leaned down, quietly inquiring her about whether or not she was a spy. Holding back the grin that was threatening to break out Jisoo put on a serious face, cautiously looking around the library dramatically, before bringing a finger to her lips to make sure the other kept her voice down. âIâm afraid I canât really answer that, and itâll be easier for me if you donât bring up that idea in public areas like this.â The second the subject was changed Jisoo straightened herself, pretending she hadnât said anything odd. âAspects of it are difficult, but I donât struggle too much with it. If anything itâs just a ton of work and I wouldnât mind more free time.â Jisoo raised an eyebrow. âIf your eyes are burning you definitely need to take like a ten minute break and drink some water. That tends to make the feeling go away.â Jisoo shrugged. It was weird talking about this. She was better at playing the dumb jock than being honest about the amount of work she did, and how good she was at subjects like math. Despite the honesty this didnât feel natural to her. âWell, it is pretty scary, but there are ways to have options. Iâm a double major for example, or you can have a major or a minor. But you should make a decision youâre comfortable with, thatâs whatâs the most important. You seem like you think a lot. As long as you donât rush into a decision without thinking about it, youâll be fine.â
"Ah, really? Isnât that a bit... sad?â Sera inquired with raised eyebrows, genuinely curious about the othersâ home life. âWhat were you like as a child? Did you change a lot since then? Have you always been this pretty, too? Did you get plastic surgery? Do you have baby pictures I can see? I'd show you mine, but I was really so ugly growing up. Iâm a lot prettier now. Itâs because I donât wear pigtails and glasses anymore---â She paused the moment the words left her mouth, shifting her gaze towards the pair of girls sheâd previously been working with. One was sporting effeminate eyeglasses, complete with a dual color frame, and svelte, rectangular lenses. â--- Ah, but yours are so cute!â She offered a warm smile, attempting to save herself, although it was too late. The surly expression on the othersâ face made that obvious. Pursing her lips together, Sera continued observing for a few more seconds, then returned her attention to Jisoo, who (for some reason) didnât seem to be getting tired of her. âItâs not that glasses are ugly,â She continued, still trying to redeem herself. If she wanted people to like her, she couldnât have people thinking she was the insolent type. âBut mine really were, they were so thick. Itâs why I wear contacts now. Can you tell Iâm wearing them? No, right? Iâm really glad I traded, I donât know why my mom let me wear those glasses outside. She must really not like, right? I wish she would burn all the pictures of me from that time period...â She sighed, voice trailing off while she made a mental note to actually ask later. It was unlikely that her mother would agree to it, but worth the try, anyway. âDoes your little sister look up to you? Is she a mini-you? Do you boss her around?â She continued with her series of questions, seat turning, one leg folding over the other. âAh, trust me, you donât want my brother as a sibling. Not even for five minutes. Not even for five seconds! Heâs just really so annoying, ah, heâs such a know it all, that one...â It was true that her brother was a show-off, but Sera acted similarly, whether she wanted to admit or not. The outcast possessed a genuine love for learning, and took great pride when it came to showing off what she knew to her schoolmates. âDo you really like art? When is your birthday? I promise to make you something thatâs really artistic! Do you like candles? I can make cupcake-shaped candles--- ah, but if I make them for you, you have to be really careful you donât forget that theyâre candles. I forgot once, and it was really so horrible. They look so delicious, but they taste so bad...â When given an ambiguous response about whether or not she was a spy, Sera was left speechless, cluelessly looking around to see if anyone else had heard that. No one. âUh...â She leaned forward again, the volume of her voice dropping. â--- Could we please talk about it later? I really have to know more.â She nodded, retreating back to her original position. âWhatâs a double major? Is that where you major in two things? At the same time? Is that allowed? Whatâs a minor? Ah, college terms are really so confusing. I bet itâs funner than high school though, right? Do you prefer university over high school? What are the classes like? Can you do whatever you want? Your teachers donât tell you what to do, right?â
She had a wild imagination, he would give her that. She seemed to always have questions and be impressed easily; like a child. Maybe thatâs why he had let his guard down so much around her. âOf course they donât do that much.â, he started while laughing slightly. She just kept surprising him. âI tend to skip a lot but they ignore it since my grades are high and iâm the vice president. Even if I do something wrong, theyâll never think I was the one who did it.â, he explained. âThey do mostly stuff like that. I would love to get candy though.â He honestly was satisfied with his school life; others wouldnât have it as easy as him after all. Well, one way or another, he would find a way to make them shut up; his role as the vice president just made it easier for him. âNo we donât, normal since this is technically a club. We have to do something. I guess you could considerer anyone below me in the student government my staff though.â, he said with a bright smile. âDonât tell them I said that.â They probably already knew but why would he try to aggravate them and say it in their faces? âYes they can be anonymous, as long as everything else is filled. You wonât get in trouble but we may ask you to come to the meeting if we think itâs necessary. That never happened though, no worries.â, he nodded his head with a slight smile. âI wonât forget my loyal follower thatâs for sure. My nameâs Sehun.â
âOh, really? You skip a lot? Why? What do you do when you skip? You must not like your classes if you skip them, right? Why not? Are they hard? Do you hate your classmates? Why would you hate them? Do you get bullied? Thatâs really so bad, you should have them expelled from---â She paused, carefully eyeing him from head to toe. Come to think of it, he certainly didnât look like he got bullied. Upon first glance, he had an intimidating demeanor. And aside from that, even if she wasnât sure of his name until now, Sera was well-aware of the high status he carried around Mokwonâs campus. It was likely that most of the student body looked up to him, not down. â--- Ah, wait, that was a stupid question, right? Of course you donât get bullied.â She chuckled, simultaneously shaking her head. âThey donât give you candy either? First no feasts, and now no candy...â Perhaps having a staff team behind you was far better than a few sweets here and there, but Sera still felt like student government members at least deserved candy for their efforts. The news only furthered her assumption that they were mistreated. âWhat kind of candy do you like? Iâll purchase it in bulk! And ah, donât worry, I wonât tell anyone. Iâm really good at keeping secrets. For example, when my brother was in middle school, he made a shrine for his crush, and every night, he would sit in front of it and pray that she would be his girlfriend. Thatâs really so embarrassing and creepy, right? But because Iâm a good person, Iâve never told anyone---â She paused again, cheeks flushing with color once she realized what she had done. Again. âExcept you.â It went without saying that she really needed to give more thought to her words before she spoke them. This wasnât the first time sheâd told of her brotherâs former pastime - but at least she hadnât directly named him, right? âAnyway,â She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, eager to change the subject. âWill you really remember me? When you become president of student government, I think you should give a thank you speech and mention me - you know, to be nice. Are you going to university? If you do, are you transferring to Mokwonâs secondary education division? Are you going to join student government there, too? Do you like it that much?â
âYouâve been busy preparing a better image for yourself? Huh?â Subin repeated, even though she heard her correctly the first time. She just couldnât believe those words had come out of her cousinâs mouth. âBut youâve always been the pretty one between us two! How could you get any prettier? Seeeeraaa, are you trying to make me jealous?â She nodded anyways, scooting a bit closer, âlet me see the clothes! I hope you know Iâm going to borrow them eventually.â Subin nodded excitedly, unsure of what question to answer first. âI watch YouTube a lot when Iâm bored.. sometimes I even get distracted while Iâm supposed to be studying because Iâm obsessed with videos of people making mini foods. Have you ever seen any of those? Itâs usually a Japanese guy and itâs so cool! He even made mini tempura once!â Subin didnât waste another moment, fingers digging through the pockets of her gym pants to yank her phone out - bringing the YouTube app up. âType your username and follow yourself, Iâll start watching your videos later.. Iâll comment, subscribe, like, and share!â Her eyes widened, âwe can do one of those make-up challenge videos or or or like..â She didnât really have any other ideas at the moment, but sheâd come up with something else eventually. âSunhwan confessed to this girl he liked and got rejected so thatâs probably why heâs been so moody lately. Itâs kind of sad actually.â Her eyebrows creased in deep thought, she recalled seeing something about a man well into his eighties conceiving, so she was sure that there was some possibility. âI donât think theyâre too old⌠plus they could always adopt! Thatâs so annoying, I donât know how you manage honestly. I guess this is one of those moments where I should cherish being the oldest sibling! Ah, thatâs it! Youâre a genius, Sera!âÂ
âAh, you shouldnât say things like that, itâs not true!â Sera whined, playfully reaching out and nudging the other on her side. Subinâs compliment was flattering, adding an unnecessary boost to Seraâs ego, but sheâd never considered herself the âprettyâ one of the two. Instead, come to think of it, her cousin was ahead of her in the appearance department. âAnyway, I donât want to be prettier. I just want to be cooler--- and Iâm really going to be! By this time next year, Iâm going to be Mokwonâs popular Sera, and everyone is going to love me! Plus, Iâll get invited to cool parties, because cool kids get invited to parties all the time. Thatâs so cool, right? Are you going to come with me? I think you should, I donât know what I would do there. Weâd have so much fun, too! Have you ever been to a party? What are they like? I heard people do illegal stuff, but thatâs not true, right? Wouldnât they get in trouble?â She passed her phone along, allowing Subin to get a glimpse of the clothing. âIf youâre going to borrow my clothes, you should help me pick them out! I donât know what to buy! Also, will you help me dye my hair? Brown is starting to look boring on me, right? I want to dye it, but I donât know what color would look nice. Blonde or red? Or neither? What about purple? I saw someone with purple hair once, she was really so pretty! Ah, her makeup was so nice, too. I should really learn how to do better makeup.â She made a mental note for herself, then turned her head, shifting her attention to Subinâs phone. âOh really, youâll do all that?!â She looked toward her cousin excitedly, then glanced down at the device, the pads of her fingers tapping against the screen. âYouâre really such a good cousin! Our video will be really popular--- but whatâs the makeup challenge?â She inquired, looking up as she pulled her YouTube channel up and returned the device. âWe should play chubby bunny on camera! Or do the smoothie challenge, but I hear some people get really sick from that, so maybe not.â She pursed her lips together, raising her eyebrows when told about Sunhwanâs recent rejection. âWell, maybe he should buy her flowers and make a card for her. Tell him he should try! Girls like that - I think. I donât know for sure. But thatâs really so sad... What would you do if someone rejected you? Do you like anyone? And you canât lie either! You have to tell me. Really, Iâll even keep it a secret.âÂ

Jisoo did her best to play herself off as nonchalant. âEh, you wouldnât know it. Itâs a small town a few hours out from here.â She quickly dropped the topic with a wave of her hand, moving to the girlâs next comment instead. âWell thatâs good. Independence is definitely fun, although my parents had never been particularly strict to begin with so I havenât gained much by leaving them. Not to mention it would be nice to see my family a little more. I miss my little sister after all.â Jisoo didnât see a problem in admitting to missing some of her family, they were close after all and she didnât plan on pretending that they werenât. Jisoo laughed slightly. She was slightly overwhelmed by the girl. Even with her talkative nature this was a bit much for her, but still, she did her best to keep up with what was being said to her. âI mean, who doesnât want more field trips? I thought that was a common goal of all students. Although, to be fair, I get to travel some for sports games, so I guess I see more than the average student, but itâs typically just other schools and fields that I visit so I donât think that counts.â Jisoo frowned, given the way half the student council acted she highly doubted complaining to them would do much, nor did she believe they were being starved, but not wanting to bring negativity into the conversation Jisoo kept her mouth shut. âIâll prepare for a protest just in case, so that weâre ready if it has to happen. And I mean hey, I donât have much interest in the student council meeting room, but Iâm always down for a top secret break in mission sort of thing, if you want to go snoop around, but if you donât want to get in trouble you better be good at running and hiding. We canât get in trouble if we donât get caught after all.â Jisoo laughed, in an attempt to show that she was joking, despite the fact that if the girl legitimately asked Jisoo would definitely try to break into the student council room with her. Jisoo shook her head in disagreement. âYeah but thereâs a difference between pretending to, I donât know, like someoneâs dress, and be in love with some stranger whoâs payed to be your romantic interest. And I havenât tried modeling, but itâs probably not for me. Iâm definitely not tall enough, and Iâd rather wear sneakers than heels.â Jisoo laughed with a short nod. âIt could include making robots, but thereâs different kinds of engineering, like mechanical or chemical. It really depends on what I want to do. It can be a little overwhelming cause itâs a lot of math and science, but I enjoy it enough that it doesnât matter.â She paused, before deciding she shouldnât be the only one answering questions, and added, âDo you know what you want to major in?âÂ
âReally, you donât have strict parents? Whatâs that like? I bet itâs so cool, right? Did you do whatever you wanted growing up? How old are you, anyway? Can I ask that? Youâre not older than twenty-five, right? You donât look twenty-five. You donât even look twenty-four.â Sera noted, eyeing the other up and down as she made an attempt to guess her age. Eighteen? Nineteen? Early twenties? âAh, you must be twenty or twenty-one, right? Are you the oldest? Do you only have one sister? Whatâs it like? That must be really cool also, right? I wish I had a younger sister. I would trade my brother for one, but my parents are probably too old to have another baby.â She paused briefly, wondering just what it would be like to have a second sibling. Fun, maybe. She would have someone that looked up to her, and more importantly, she would have a chance of having a ânormalâ sibling relationship. Her brother was nice, there was no denying that. He made it clear he loved her and he always seemed to express concern for her well-being --- but Sera had grown far too resentful towards him for their relationship to ever be considered normal. And if they werenât under the same roof, she made sure to avoid him at all costs. âAre visits to other schools fun?â Sera lifted her gaze, looking towards the other again. âIf not, it doesnât count, so we should definitely prepare to protest! But donât make any posters, okay? Iâll do them. Iâm really so good at design.â She nodded, prideful as ever about her crafting skills. âSo how do you break into a room and not get caught? Have you ever broken into a room before?â She raised an eyebrow and leaned forward, the volume of her voice falling to that of a whisper. âAre you a spy? You donât look like a spy - but you sound like one. You must be one, right?â She nodded again, correcting her posture, allowing her voice to return to regular volume. âAh, thatâs so much cooler than being an actress or a model. But I bet itâs hard, right? Why do you like hard stuff? I hate it. Especially math, I can never remember anything unless I study it until my eyes burn. Have you ever done that? It really hurts a lot.â When asked what she wanted to major in, she shrugged her shoulders lightly. It was a good question, but she hadnât given that much thought. âI donât know. Maybe acting, because I like it so much, right? But I donât think my parents would want that. How do people choose what they want to study? Isnât that scary? Picking one thing to do for the rest of your life - what if you get your degree, but get a job and realize you donât like the field? Ah, that must really be so sad. I donât want that to happen to me. I should choose carefully, right?â

sage can see how seraâs expression quickly falls due to her statement, and she pouts, mind racing for a way to make her feel better and keep the conversation from veering down depression lane.  âi think they would be a little happier to stick around their own people, and reveal themselves as they see fit. maybe they have really nice secret societies that we donât even know about, and all it takes is earning their trust to be revealed to it!â she adds, enthusiasm present in her voice as she makes a mental note to keep these ideas in mind for her next short story. âtheyâre based off comic books. a group of mutated humansâ it parallels a lot of discrimination that people face. theyâre not really scary, just action packed. i like movies like that⌠lots of action. and the marvel movies, comedies tooâ iâm not too big on romance movies. sometimes theyâre cute, but a lot of them are the same.â as she talks, she canât help but peek at seraâs screenâ maybe there is a supernatural doctor out there, right in front of her face, but her suspicions are only proven right in that sheâs alone. âi donât knowâ maybe somethingâll happen and itâll just pop out the blue like an epiphany. shrink, a psychiatrist? therapist or something? i dunno why theyâre called that, actually. heâs just not good⌠his movie was all over the place and didnât make much sense. i donât think heâs cute. i think he looks kinda old.â she scrunches her nose as she pulls out her phone, looking up the name on google before turning the screen towards sera. âthey are undead, yeah, so they probably arenât all that cute. no, i donât think so? zombies lose their brain, complete control of themselves⌠vampires are still themselves, just different?â even she knows that her statement makes little sense, she canât move the words from her brain to out loud, so she simply laughs instead. âiâm glad too, i wouldnât want to have to live off blood. sounds like a deal! iâll watch all your movies and pay attention to them if you keep my secret.âÂ
sera raises her eyebrows at the others, lifting a free hand and scratching the side of her head as she contemplates what life as a supernatural being might be like. âdo you think they have club meetings where they make fun of humans?â she asks, scrunching her nose slightly. âah, thatâs really so mean.. i donât want to be made fun of. plus, what if they have really scary meetings, huh? what if vampires have blood feasting parties together? they probably---â she realizes sheâs projecting stereotypes again, and her words come to a halt mid-sentence. thereâs always the idea that supernatural beings are portrayed as evil in movies because the government wants the general public to shun them. of course, sera is above that. and the more she discusses them, the more eager she becomes to meet them. âwhat if vampires donât really need blood? what if they donât even call themselves vampires? who named them that in the first place? do you ever think about why mermaids are called mermaids? and witches? and werewolves? i really have to know, i have to speak to them - ah, but i donât know where i would meet any. i think since youâre a mermaid, you should find out where they all hang out. you can do that, right? since youâre one of them? and then you come get me, and iâll pretend to be one. i can be... a fairy. right? because i look like one?â she pauses again, lifting her hands and using them to frame her face for added effect. âi could be tinkerbell--- except i donât have wings and stuff, but i could buy it at a halloween store. itâll be like iâm acting in a movie, kind of like the xmen one. i bet thatâs a really fun movie to be in. ah, what if theyâre not even actors? what if they use real mutants?â she turns her head, eyes peering at the screen displayed in front of her. sage was right in her opinion that he wasnât cute. at all. âhmm. do you think thereâs real vampires at our school? do any of your teachers seem like a vampire to you? because really, i think some of mine are questionable - but also some of my classmates.â
Everybody knew that if were talking to Sera you were ready to get into a rollercoaster of stories and questions that would never end. When there was a slight stop on her speech Sunghoon actually looked up at the girl, just in time to catch some words of preoccupation. âIâm not sad, donât worry about it.â The athlete fixed his sitting while running a hand on his hair - completely unsure of for how long he was sitting in that chair. âI guess Iâm just a little tired.â And after that sentence his eyes locked on her food once again like it was made of something shiny. Maybe it was the lighting.
"Are you sure? You can talk to me if youâre sad, Iâm really good with listening. One time I listened to a girl cry for three hours straight. Ah, thatâs really so long, right? I didnât know that people could cry so much, it was so surprising. It was also really tiring too, honestly, sitting on the floor for three hours really hurts your bottom. Are you going to cry? For three hours? Ah, you really shouldnât... too much crying can deplete nutrients in your body. I know this, because I read about it once.â She paused, scrunching her nose in thought as she attempted to recall where sheâd read such a fact. A textbook? The internet? A poster at the doctorâs office? â--- I canât remember where, but I really read it, Iâm not lying. You should search it online if you donât believe me. Anyway, why are you tired? Did you stay up late? Do you always stay up late? Even on school nights?â She curiously inquired, raised brows quickly furrowing together when she discovered that he wasnât even looking at her. âYou know...â She began, eyes following his gaze until she realized what he was looking at: the food she hadnât even bothered to touch since sitting down. âDo you want this?â She questioned, pushing the dish towards him and dropping her hands in her lap. "I canât eat it. I was going to, but shrimp crackers taste really taste so good, I ate too many of them. But I usually donât do that, because my mom says I shouldnât have so many snacks in between meals, since it sabotages your diet. I try to listen to her even if sheâs not here. Do you listen to your parents? Or do you disobey them? Ah, I donât know how people get away with that... I think my parents are aliens, anyway. They know everything. Itâs so weird.â
Jisoo just smiled and nodded as the girl thanked her, not really sure if she had meant to compliment her, but glad that the girl was happy. Jisoo couldnât help but frown slightly at her questions about her high school. She didnât want to tell the girl about how she had gone to a rundown high school and that she was really only making it to Mokwon on scholarship, but she had to say something. âWell, my family isnât from around here, so I stayed close to home for high school. Donât worry, we didnât have enough field trips there either.â She paused, trying to figure out what to say. âI wound up coming here for university though because of the education opportunities. The academics are a lot better than a university near my home town.â It was basically the truth, it just left out some major details that Jisoo didnât intend to share. She shook her head, trying to reassure the girl. âNo no, most of the teachers are fine. This particular teacher is just a bit of a pain. Heâs not particularly patient.â Jisoo laughed off the compliments. She wasnât used to people commenting on her looks, but it probably partially had to do with the fact that she was most seen on the field, in gym clothes, covered in sweat. Jisoo shook her head again, a small smile on her face. âOh no, I could never act, and the modeling industry isnât for me. Iâm actually double majoring in dance and engineering, so I canât just escape university for fame Iâm afraid.â
âAh, really? Where are you from? How far away is your family now? Are they really far? My parents live two hours out. Itâs not sad at all, I really like the distance. I feel like an adult. Itâs really so cool.â Sera mused, a content expression flourishing on the features of her face as she spoke. She then crossed one leg over the other, comfortably propping an elbow on top of deskâs surface. It was cool to be independent and not miss your parents, right? Missing them made you a  big baby... or so, she figured. She never saw anyone crying for their parents. Even on her very first day at Mokwon, it seemed like everyone sent their families off with a hug and smile, so Sera followed suit, saving her tears for the private bathroom in her dorm. These days, thankfully, she didnât think about them as much. Having this new-found freedom was nice - even if she didnât utilize it.  âDo you want more field trips? I want more field trips. We should start an official protest--- oh, but we canât do that yet because I made a complaint with student government and we have to give them a chance to fix it first. Donât worry though, since Iâll be a first year student in university next year, I also made a complaint with your student government, so you donât have to do it. Iâm so cool, right?â The grin on her face grew in size, and she nodded in response to her own inquiry. âAh, but maybe you should have attended a school that has good academics but also treats their students better... Do you know that Mokwon mistreats student government members? They starve them, itâs really so bad... I hear they donât get the special treatment they deserve. Have you seen their conference room? Itâs boring... but because Iâm not a member, they probably hide the good stuff from me, right? They probably have a top secret, hidden room for members only... Ah, we should just sneak in and see for ourselves, but then weâd get in trouble, right? I donât want to get in trouble.â She shook her head, waving it off. âWhy canât you act? Anyone can act, youâre just pretending. I donât know about modeling, Iâve never done it. Have you ever tried it? How do models walk in heels? Doesnât that hurt? It looks like it hurts. What about engineering, do you make robots? Why? Isnât that difficult? Do you like it a lot?â

"ah, thereâs really so much stuff...â sera mumbled to herself, her voice shattering the silence that enveloped the entirety of the room. she glanced around, eyes shifting from one cardboard box to another, wondering what she should put on next to complete her look. a jacket, maybe? â--- luna!â she glanced in the mirror, slender frame turning and twisting as she threw on a denim jacket and examined herself. it didnât look right. she didnât get that glamorous feeling she got from looking at models in magazines. âluna!â she called again, head turning and listening for faint footsteps. of course there werenât any. âah, she must have really bad hearing...â the girl sighed. she took off the jacket, hanging it over her arm, then sauntered over to lunaâs side of the suite. âwhat are you doing?â she questioned, eyeing the girl from where she stood. âare you busy? you donât look busy to me. please help me. this top - good, or no?â she paused for a moment, looking down, making a mere attempt to flatten out any creases in her crop top. she felt awkward wearing it, like she was baring too much of her skin. a free hand slid over her stomach, covering what she could. âah, itâs not good, right? should i remove it? should i wear this jacket over it?â she held up the lone article, âno? is this ugly too? should i send it back? what do you like wearing? i want to dress cooler. but i donât know what style of clothing to use. fashion is really so hard.â
Jisoo grinned, doing her best to laugh into her hand, although she wasnât too concerned about having the other high schoolers across the table yell at her, she was an upperclassman after all. âWell then, youâre already way more prepared than I was. I got lost so often I had to draw a map for myself. But then again I didnât come here for high school, so you have an unfair advantage with that.â She frowned briefly, more to be dramatic than anything. âIâm a good student too you know. Itâs not like I cheat on tests or anything, sometimes homework is just difficult and I need a little help. Theyâre two completely different situations.â Jisoo tried to put her hands up to calm the girl next to her but it was difficult when she was still giggling. âDonât worry, no oneâs gonna force you to do their work for them, that only happens when you come off as a complete and total nerd.â Jisoo was joking at this point but she wasnât sure if the girl would pick up on that or believe her completely. Pretending to check Jisoo looked down at the page in front of her, still just as blank as it had been when she first arrived at the library. âI think itâs supposed to be chemistry but honestly it all looks like a foreign language to me. Maybe itâs actually a message from aliens and Iâm not picking up on it. That would make more sense than if it was actually supposed to be chemistry.â Jisoo nodded quickly to show the girl she recognized what she was talking about. âYeah Google. You can find a ton of information there, but I get super distracted on computers, so I might just be getting even less work done than I am now, which should be impossible since Iâm doing literally no work at the moment.â
âAh, you think so? Thank you, I worked really hard. Ah, this campus is so big!â Sera grinned, completely flattered by the otherâs statement. When she mentioned that she hadnât attended Mokwon High, the expression on Seraâs face shifted to that of curiosity. â--- Wow, really? Where did you go? Why didnât you go here? Why did you decide to attend Mokwon for college? Do you think Mokwon is a good school? Ah, you really should have come here for high school, itâs really nice... except we donât get enough field trips. But thatâs my only complaint.â She nodded, continuing to ignore her study-mates. Really, what kind of study group was this, anyway? Everyone kept their nose pressed into their books. Aside from Sera, no one really spoke. It was boring, and it wasnât really an effective method of studying, seeing as Sera hadnât learned anything while sitting here. âIf your homework is difficult, why donât you tell your teacher? Donât they help? If they donât, ah, thatâs so bad. University must be so horrible then, right? They assign difficult homework, and they donât even help you... Wow, I should hurry up and become an actress so I donât have to go to University. Can you act? You look like an actress. Ah, but you probably model, right? Youâre really so pretty. You should quickly leave school, in that case. Popular pretty people donât need it.â
