Thatâs when he hears them yelling I fucking swear, that was a cop!
Oh crap. Ohcrapohcrap, that was not a good thing for them to know. Heâd worry about that later, first taking care to bring the lady behind the counter.
I swear! the voice again, letâs kill him, show his head to the big boss. Laughter and Sukjin just aggressively ignored it, the small flash of panic wanting to spark into life. He had no time for that.
âPress here,â he just spoke confidently, keeping his voice low but commanding. If he didnât panic about the words, maybe â hopefully â Chanyeol wouldnât either.
Chanyeol had to hand it to the old guy - he was brave. Â Stupid but brave. Because anyone else, and that was including himself, would have booked it out of that store at the first chance they got. Â
Instead here they both were, carrying the bleeding woman behind the counter while the threats that only got more and more graphic simply rolled off Sukjinâs back. Â That is until the one with the cracking voice that Chanyeol imagined as some pimply faced wannabe badass teenager yelled, âI fucking swear, that was a cop!â
And that was when Chanyeol saw Sukjin flinch for the first time.
The cop tried not to show it. Â Hell, Sukjin didnât even bother acknowledging the very loud and menacing plot that was now being discussed just a few feet away from them but that threat had rattled the older man just like it had rattled Chanyeol.
It was there in the way the commander momentarily faltered - his hands shaking despite how steady his voice stayed as he continued giving instructions while Chanyeol removed his shirt and started applying pressure to the womanâs wound.
But it was clear that Sukjin knew that this situation wasn't good. Â Not in the slightest. Â Not for any of them.
Chanyeol had hoped that the thugs had just been there for the money. Â That theyâd just shoot the place up a bit to prove that they owned the neighbourhood before coming in to empty the cashbox and making a clean getaway.
But there was no way those guys were passing up a chance to off a cop especially if it meant that theyâd finally move up in the ranks.
âCommander,â he called our, forcing the older man to finally look at him instead of the white shirt in Chanyeolâs hands that was quickly turning red.
âI know how these guys think and now that theyâve figured out youâre a cop, it wonât take them too long to figure out that youâre unarmed.â
Maybe it wasnât the smartest thing to be admitting to a cop but his mind was on overdrive- far more concerned with making it out of their alive than whatever Sukjin might make of him.
âSo before that happens, we have to counterattack and prove that we are armed before they come in and execute all of us. Â No offense, but I donât want to die because of you,â and Chanyeol spared the older man a cutting glance before the injured womanâs weak moans caught his attention again.
âCâmon,â he urged, fully aware that they were already on borrowed time. âWe gotta find something⌠anything⌠we can use against them.  I donât care if you start chuckingâŚâ
Chanyeol paused, scrambling to think of something as he wildly looked around - eyes settling on a fallen carton of eggs on the floor.
â...eggs at them!,â he exclaimed, his eyes snapping back to look Sukjin dead in the eyes. Â
