Pelhar Dam Lake, Vasai Virar Pelhar lake is a rock earth dam situated in Vasai Virar region which is a part of water supply unit to the cities. This dam was est in 1975. When viewed from above this reservoir looks like a heart shape. The length of this dam is about 500 meters. Vehicles are not allowed inside. The dam area is appx 700mx700m. The water level goes down during summer but during rains the iron gates are removed and kept which releases water and on the opposite waterfall is formed. The water gushes down the rocks with rapid force. Dam is deep and rich in flora and fauna. During heavy rainfall water level can increase abruptly. The waterfall part is dangerous as the rocks are slippery and force of water is great. Lake is pristine untouched. Since this is a water supply unit the lake is clean. The dam gets its water through rivers from Tungareshwar Hills. The river name is abma (from other sources). Coronavirus: India’s pandemic lockdown turns into a human tragedy…RBI governor Shaktikanta Das has called the corona virus an “invisible assassin” that could wreak havoc on Asia’s third-biggest economy. With prolonged nationwide lockdown, millions of daily wage laborers suddenly lost their jobs, forcing hundreds of thousands to travel hundreds of kilometres back to their home villages, often on foot. Some died after being run over by a freight train on the way, while others were crushed between two lorries while returning back to their villages. One viral clip showed a group of migrants being hosed down with chemicals, One showed the Child is playing with his dead mother’s cloths on railway platform. Others have been stranded in cities in cramped, unsanitary conditions where the virus could spread quickly. Lockdown itself shows the deathly silence in all the lanes everywhere and all those heart-touching visuals are heart-rending. I tried to depict some of those on my canvases.
